I think Nic has the skills to be as good as Kevin Durrant. He just needs to believe in himself. Maybe run some plays for him.

Nic's specialty is in defense, not offense. Yes he's a good 3 pt shooter but we don't use him to rack up points. That's what we have roy and LA for.

To be honest a starter should be just as good on offense as he is on defense, and starters should have lock down D.

I love Nic but no way will he ever be as good as Durant.  Durant is a future hall-of-famer while dear Nic will ultimately be an afterthought.

Kevin Durant = Tracy McGrady 2.0
    Nicolas Batum = Scottie Pippen
I don't know about you guys, but I'd take Scottie over T-Mac any day...

Nico is just getting started on offense.  When he gave Pau the peace sign I was sold. Durant will NEVER be Nico on the defensive end.

Nic had a 30 point game last season. He was unstopable. I don't know if he could ever average that but I think he has the a skills to be one of the offensive weapons the Blazer need to get pass the first round, but he needs to know that before they get there. The Blazer need to light a fire under his behind (mod edit, watch language please) and give him the ball.

It was not a peace sign, he held up two fingers representing the second time he has dunked over pau gasol. There is footage of the first time it happened with Nic shaking a finger at him. IMO a peace sign would have been really stupid, but the two fingers for the two times was nasty (mod edit, please watch language)

Running plays for Batum will not equal 30 PPG and 8 boards.  Enough said.

To all you people who claim Nic will never be as good as Durant .. or is not as good as durant ..

Nic is as solid a defender as you can find in the NBA .. But he is not the focal point of the offense .. Roy and Aldridge are the focal point of the offense.

Durant gets the first offensive everything on that team. Thats not even comparable to Nic who is likely to be 3rd or 4th option (at best) on our offense ..

Durant has been two times in a row the worst defender in the NBA according to some sites .. Nic has been able to and will continue to be able to stop Durant, See Portlands complete ownage of the Thunder the past two years .. 6-2 .. With Durant having the worst games of his year's against Portland ..

So as long as Portland is able to continue to utterly and completely own that Thunder team ..

Nic is better then Durant .. in my honest opinion. Defense .. always outweighs offense ..

Durant shot the ball on average of 19.3 times per game .. (42%FG)

Nic shot the ball on average of 6.7 times per game .. (45+FG%)

So yes .. given Nic 19.3 shots a game against Durant .. and he would rather easily score 30 on Durant ..

Look, when you have a superstar like brandon roy, you dont need to rack up points like that. You just need him to play defense. Just let him do what he does best and do what he feels comfortable with.

Apparently two fingers no longer represents a peace sign , I must really be old. I know what the 2 fingers was for, but thanks for the explaination :).

Anyone who thinks Durant would score like he does in OKC here, remember the guys named Roy and Aldridge.

Kim, no way no how would Durant be able to score like he does if he were a Blazer. He would literally be 3rd option .. at BEST .. on the Portland team.

People who do not agree with that simply do not understand that both Aldridge and Roy were flat out told they were the franchise players for Portland, their rookie years.

Drafting Durant 2 years later .. would mean they would still make him (Durant) the 3rd option at best.

Sorry, I shouldn't have said AS good. I should have said to almost as good:) I just think he should watch some flim and work on his ball handling. I do agree that his defence is a huge asset to the team.

Players are mostly determined to be what they become by the system they play in. Could Nic become a "scorer" in this league? I think so if he had to. I watched him get his own shot a couple of times during the fiba worlds, He had some really nice dunks, and hit some nice threes. He is coming along nicely as an offensive option, but he won't ever get the chance to handle the ball as much as durant and this determines him to not be as "good" as Durant (by what most people mean by "Good" which usually means high scoring). I'm fine with nic doing what he does for our team in Nates system. I think if he does this he will have a long career in this league. Good is a word that needs a to be defined a bit better. It needs to take into account the role a player has on the team and them fulfilling that role, if this is what Nic can do, who cares if he is as Good as anyone else. He is good like your partner is good for you. No need to keep comparing one person against/to another - this just leads to fruitless speculation. Nic does his Job well.

how about the fact that, durant comes into the league a year after batum, and in two years is able to score 30 ppg, lead his swiss cheese team to their first playoffs and was able to put the lakers down a couple games, not to mention scare the $#!T outta 'em. You know?
Plays in Fiba, also like Nic, and DOMINATED. Durant vs World = Durant.

Would NOT be surprised if Durant takes MvP next year.
in the nba world  Durant more valuable than Batum.

I feel the same way. If you're a starter, you should be able to score, and hold your man. Thats not always the case as we all know. Thats why Nico ends up on pg's, two's and three's, the D of the guy thats supposed to check him is suspect. I'd love to see Armon get some run with Nico and Matthews, with Camby and Oden holding down the middle.

Batum might not be as good as Durant, but Batum could be really good.  REALLY good.  I think if Batum could continue to work a bit more on his dribbling, driving, and a bit of passing, he could be a very good all-around player.  Whereas Durant, while he might be an all-around player, he loses a bit of defense, and has a lot of Offense.  Batum is more well-rounded.

In my opinion, Good, is the complete value of a player for their team. It could be that they are a good Defensive player, They clog the lanes, break up passes, knocking the ball out, showing a great amount of effort, that just increases as the game goes on. Getting a hand in players faces even if it seems pointless, taht ind of overall effort and hustle, really defense is extra hustle.
A good offensive player, i would define as someone who doesnt necessarily have to be a leader, but someone who again, has to have that extra bit of energy when they see an opening, and someone who capitalizes on those openings, whether it be pass, scoring, really the guy who can grab the And 1's. He can create offense for his team just as easily as he does it for himself. Who knows when to pass or drive it on a break-a-way, a smart player, who doesnt underestimate the other team's abilities. Thats a good offensive player
