    As you might've seen in the "Around the World" section of trailblazers.com, Eric Dampier was waived by Charlotte.
     You kind of saw this coming. Just one day after he became available to be traded in a multiplayer deal, the Bobcats decided to cash in on luxury tax savings by waiving Erick Dampier. What does this mean for Dampier? Other than becoming an unrestricted free agent, his $13 million contract is now void.

    As noted yesterday, getting rid of Dampier’s contract gets Charlotte about $5 million below the $70.3 million luxury tax threshold – a figure that Michael Jordan has said he won’t exceed. While there’s been talk of Dampier re-signing with the club, chances are a contender (perhaps the Denver Nuggets) will make a run at him.


    This guy's a pretty decent center. Should the TrailBlazers make a run at him? Or would a push by a Denver or a retry by Charlotte get in the way?

    I would rather him hold a roster spot over Rudy right now, and don't want him landing in Denver.  But I have no idea how the $ works .

    Unfortunately this will be one of those time's that seem all to familiar where the blazers have to stand by and watch another team go after Dampier. With the uncertainty of both Greg and Joel we dont have much choice. On one hand we are currently very thin at the 5, with just Marcus, but if we make a move and sign Dampier and than both Greg and Joel become healthy than we have a huge log jam at the 5, but if we wait and they are slow to become game ready we screw ourselves. Catch 22

     The Blazers have Oden who hopefully will develop into a star. Przybilla who is prob. the best backup center in the NBA. Plus Camby who will get a lot of playing time since hes so good at defense. Dampier not only wouldn't fit the rotation but he isn't enen all that good! a pointless question if you ask me. GO BLAZERS! 10 11 Champs

    Due to his not-so-flattering frame and age, the guy can't run worth squat.  Our opponents will most likely take advantage of that fact.  It would be cool to take another center to add to our already-awesome front line, but if you ask me, Dampier's done.  Almost in the same pool as Iverson.  At least teams are CONSIDERING Dampier.

    miami heat made a offer as well for the vets min. & also memphis, we'll see where he signs but it won't be portland =)

    The Blazers should pass on Dampier.

    i would not oppose him coming here, bring him here till/if we get fully healthy, he could bring a needed big body while our centers get healthy
