    Roy, Matthews, Batum, Camby, Oden

They do say the best defense is a good offense, so you have to put Roy out there to get some form of offense on the court. I was torn between adding LA or not. Camby is a better on ball defender but LA is young and Greg gets into foul trouble a lot.

My honest opinion as the best Defensive unit with the team as it stands as of this post would be ..

    Roy
    Mathew's
Armon (6'8 inch WING SPAN SAY WHAT !! )
    Batum
    Camby
    Oden

Any combination of the players mentioned ..

Roy's defensive game has seen leaps and bounds last year .. (Literally shutting down Kobe flat out .. in the 4th quarter's of each game they faced up in, while simply abusing Kobe on the offensive end)

Batum has shown the ability to stop some of the games BEST scorer's time in and time out .. to include, Lebron, Melo and Durant .. (and he has shown it consistantly)

Mathew's is another player who has had to lock up the best offensive guard on other teams for Utah last year is he a lock down defender no, but his defensive intensity is only going to get better each passing year !!

Armon, has a friggen wingspan of a PF with the quickness of a PG !! Not only is this guy going to be a GREAT perimeter defender but he is going to be able to cut off passing lanes almost every time !!

Camby has always been a defensive specialst, this is a no brainer and as such I see no reason why as to Camby being a defensive specialist still ..

Oden, Is a defensive specialist pure an simple .. His defense and presence alone on the court will do WONDER's for the team and nightmare's for the opposing teams..

Portland is on the fast track to being one of the BEST defensive teams this year with the additions of Mathew's and Armon to the likes of Camby, Roy, Batum, and Oden ..

That is why I say any combination of the players I just mentioned would be the best defensive unit for the Blazers .

Roy/Matthews/Batum/Cunningham/Camby if no Oden; obviously he'd replace Cunningham, and Camby would move down to PF and Greg to C.

I agree.  Same five...however for slightly different reasons.  Armon might become a Roy replacement in this type of scenario, but as an untested rookie at this level, there is no replacing the experience of #7.  His ability to read the floor, his knowledge of current players and tendencies, his anticipation...There is no substitution for experience.  I do believe that Johnson has the potential to be a league-wide recognized defensive force at that PG position.  Time will tell.

Here you go Kim... (all wingspans are approximations from various websites and Cambys was quoted by himself)
    6'8" - AJ
    6'10" - Matthews
    7'4" - Nic
    7'2" - Camby
    7'4.25" - Oden
    Grand total wingspan of 35'4.25"

i think that Bayless, Roy, Mathews, Batum, and Camby are the five best defenders (in no particular order), but seeing that Batum probably wont play the four, A lineup of Roy, Mathews, Batum, Camby, and Oden would be very nice

Agree 100 with BDawg about AJ.  Only time will cure inexperience for him.

Yeah It would be a good deal for them but who Olshey isnt reading this haha. If we can do this trade to start our off season we would be in great shape.

Rip a cap hold is a number given to free agents. Basically the cap hold is added to the teams salaries at the start of free agency. So for example a team has 10 million in cap space but has 15 million in cap holds they are technically over the sal...

You could trade the pick for someone like Sanders or someone young and a little more developed and hope Noel does not surpass them.

Noel was playing at around 220 so I doubt the added weight will slow him down too much the guy just needs to continue his rehab and hit the weight room and he will be fine.

As long as he stops pulling the ball down in the post I will be happy nothing more annoying than watching that happen several times a game
