    From Portland Tribune-
Behind the scenes, Cho continues work on accommodating Rudy Fernandez’s trade request. The first-year GM has some options, and I’m getting the feeling he might pull the trigger on something before camp. Wes Matthews is the new backup to Brandon Roy at shooting guard, and Fernandez’s appearance (or non-appearance) at camp could prove to be a distraction nobody needs.

I wonder if his play in the Worlds has more teams interested?

That would be nice, lets get somebody who doesn't complain. I mean after his performance in the playoffs...he should've been long ago. He's a player that collapses under pressure, thats not someone who is going to help the Blazers win a championship anytime soon...

This Rudy situation is like a reoccurring nightmare, I just want it to end. Send him away for a bag of sour patch kids and some circus peanuts to be named later!

Trade him for a washing machine like Jackie Moon did for the Flint Michigan Tropics (Will Ferrill Semi-pro joke)

The Blazers could just have kept Ryan Gomes. That way, we'll have formidable back-up at the 2 and 3 with WM and RG, interchangeably. That would have made Rudy a valuable trading piece for someone at the 4.

...but correct me if I'm wrong, whether we could still sign WM if we kept RG on that process.

We used our Mid Level to sign Wesley so Gomes didn't affect that, but we'd still have too many players if we had Gomes instead of Rudy which is why we keep hearing rumors of us wanting a pick for Rudy so we can trim down our roster.

Ohh, thanks DHawes. Maybe we really should have kept Gomes (and sign WM) so that we could trade Rudy and a couple of other players and draft rights for a player @ the 4 and 2 (say, Brandon Bass AND JJ Redick) in order to trim down the roster.

I'm sure they explored the option of cutting and resigning Gomes as the Bobcats did with Dampier, but his non guaranteed contract was more valuable than the player itself.

Unfortunately, Dampier's worth more than Rudy, so a sign-&-trade with him wouldn't work out...
If Rudy is gone before training camp, all the better for the team. If not, he is our player, whether he shows up or not.

Also didn't Rudy get 30+ points in their final game (for 5th and 6th I think it was)

Dampier is a free agent for the second time this offseason so I'm not sure what you mean. I was only throwing Damp's name out there to relate it to how releasing Gomes was the right decision also at the time for financial purposes. Even with Paul Allen at the helm we still have to be wary of the Salary Cap.

Nice Idea but I think the TWolves trade is very lobsided in our favor

Derrick Williams and Budinger are proven players in the league. Claver and Freeland are not

Hawes was playing nice this season and would be a good pick up imo ...

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.
