    How will wesley Matthew's help us instead of coming off the bench and giving roy a break ?

    i think you should have put "other than' as opposed to "instead" but i get your question.

    I didn't really get the opportunity to watch Matthews much but from what i have heard about him is he is an above average shooter, well controlled when driving, smart passer, lock-down defender, and above all-else he is a workhorse (you cant go undrafted and work your way to a starting role without working your butt off)

    These are all based on what i have read on the site so not positive on any but if he could start on a physical defensive team like Utah he has to be good of the defensive end.

    Matthews is going to bring with him an energy and a toughness this current group of Blazers sorely lacks, particularly at the defensive end.  This team has ranked among the lowest in the league in easy baskets in recent years.  Miller helped last season, and with the addition now of Matthews...problem solved.  Having some healthy shot blockers in the middle will also mean less possessions that begin with taking the ball out of the net.  Matthews will quickly become a fan favorite with his hustle and his blue collar approach.  The Garden will be a few decibel levels louder this year when WM is on the floor.  I plan to be the first in line to pick up my #2 jersey!

    I think there will be opportunities for Matthews to start. If Nate has an inclination that Wesley will match up better against a certain player on the opponents stating rotation, then Coach can bring Batum in as the reserve player.
