Do you agree with NBA.com's assessment?
    Yes, spot on (19)
     63%
No, too high of a grade (4)
     13%
No, too low of a grade (7)
     23%

NBA.com is giving summer grades for every team and awarded Portland with a "B" overall grade for our work this summer.

Here's a piece of what they had to say:
For all of the positives going on in Portland, several nagging situations need to be resolved. Top of the list for new general manager Rich Cho is the next move with Rudy Fernandez. His once-promising career has been sidetracked by a battle of wills between the organization and the Spanish star. Fernandez, unhappy with his role, has talked about sitting out if he's not traded.

The recoveries of Greg Oden and his backup Joel Przybilla loom over the team. Oden is supposed to be on schedule, though the former No. 1 overall pick and the team are keeping that timetable under wraps. While depth at center is a concern, the Blazers did beef up in other areas. Signing away Matthews from Utah adds punch to the second team if the former undrafted free agent follows up on a surprising rookie campaign.

Whatever character questions arose from a questionable video appearance by Roy should be long forgotten by camp. Roy showed what he was made of and his commitment to the franchise by coming back from a knee injury during the playoffs.

In general, Portland received the following category based grades:
    Frontcourt- B
    Backcourt- A
    Defense- B
    Bench- B+
    Coaching- A

Not sure I completely agree with a B for the summer though. Why do the Thunder and Lakers get  a "A"? What did they do that was so special? While I don't think our moves are done yet, adding Matthews, extending Camby, and picking up young talent in Babbit, Johnson, and Williams while having no major defects from the team is more B+ in my book.  Do you agree or disagree with NBA.com's assessment?

I voted too low just because with how they graded us, our average is actually 3.5 which is a B+ (F=0, D=1, C=2, B=3, A=4) just like a traditional GPA...  Still we would make honor roll tho

well with only matthews being added in technically the offseason i would say it is a good grade for a B.
however we did add a top 16 pick in babbit. to add armon to babbit could argue for the B+ grade.

as much as i hate to say it... i do think the lakers had a pretty good. if not great offseason...
they kept fisher. they got blake. who is a pretty good fit to play off of kobe/pau.
should they get an A? hey they're the champs. but A? yeah.. have to say with blake/fisher/phil...
could give them an A. could also be the same grade as the blazers.

but the thunders grade of an A? lol... No. if they get an A then the cavs should too.
they didn't fix their problem against big guys that score on the block. how can you say they get an A?
    answer is. you cant.

    i dont agree with miami's A grade either. last i checked A+ B B C B =/= A
becides 3 players doesnt = championship. takes more than talent to win one. look at Lebron.
sopposed to be the most talented player in the game. how many rings does he have?
miami gets an A+ for talent for 3 players...  rest of them? C

I am a fan of defence.

Im with you Brandon the Lakers as much as I despise them did good moves, Blake is a good PG for the triangle thats for sure...  Also the Thunder right now is big bandwagon team it seems, all the analysts are saying they can go all the way this season but i find nothing more than speculation thus far to support that.  Durant can score we all know that good and well but he is not, in my opinion, an amazing player, don't get me wrong i respect the kids skills and abilities and know he is going to be elite in a few years but he isn't that dominating player that everybody labels him as*.  As for the Heat they are going to lead the league in wins is my guess but i think they will get ousted in the 2nd round of the playoffs this season you can only do so much with over 60% of your finances going to 3 players.  They will win championships but not this year this year is the wests for the taking.

*Don't flame for my opinion on KD i respect and like  the kid but just an opinion calm down.

I am not a huge Nate fan but I appreciate everything he has done for this team If i could make dreams come true i would pull an NFL move and Have Nate the head coach but hire an offensive coordinator type coach to come in and run the offense and let Nate handle all defensive responsibilities since he is magic with aggressive D.

I agree with the grade of a B, perhaps B+ would be more appropriate.  Giving Miami an A seems obvious, but perhaps they should have concentrated more on the other players in South Beach.  If Chicago lands Anthony, then the whole situation drastically changes.
Unfortunately, the Fake Show did earn their A as they held on to some key guys and did sign Blake.  ARRGGG!!!!
As a lifelong Blazer fan and Oregonian currently stuck living in Heartland Hell, I cannot disagree more with giving the Blunder an A.  They made ZERO off season moves of any importance and I think the assessment of them as a bandwagon team is spot on.  Its like every NBA analyst and the fanbase forgot the atrocity surrounding this team.  I hated the Sonics, but it remains a tragedy that a great city like Seattle lost a franchise to a dump like OKC.  That being said, the Blunder have likable players, yes Durant is REALLY good but I get the feeling he's close to a bad injury at some point, but the fanbase is a joke.
I wouldn't worry because as long as we stay healthy, the West is ours to take.  Let the 'Zers continue to fly under the radar and then we'll punch em all in the mouth come May/June!
    'Zers in '10/11 baby!

We made a good trade to get Camby, but then should have jumped on resigning Blake before the Lakers got him. Too bad it takes the Lakers move for the Blazers to realize the value of SB. I'm afraid it will be the difference between a W or L this season.  Still no reliable backup point guard. No resolve of Rudy fiasco.  Hmmm, too much focus on KP and wounded egos & not enough on basketball?  B sounds like a fair grade.

A lot of people agree that Blake is a good PG its jut that he doesn't really fit into our offense anymore.  He is the textbook triangle PG he can hit the open shot like Fisher but he is a smarter passer than Fisher is.  He may not be a great defensive PG but as we saw here he isn't afraid to take a hit from a flying forward either.

I didn't understand how we had A's and B+'s in the more specific ratings (like backcourt and bench), but only got a B average.  Wouldn't it be more like a B+ or an A-?

how do WE have a lower defencive grade then the thunder? Last i recall the blazers are one of the best defencive teams in the league With Batum, Oden, Joel Przybilla, Camby, Wes Matthews, Armon Johnson. <---- All of these guys are good/great defenders

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
