But Lucas, sources said, has been invited to camp with the idea that he can make Chicago's opening night roster. Lucas' one-year deal for the league minimum would become fully guaranteed if the 28-year-old can stay on the Bulls' roster past Jan. 10.

The Bulls currently have 12 players under contract for 2010-11 and remain interested in adding another quality shooter.

One source with knowledge of the Bulls' thinking told ESPN.com that the club has not abandoned hope of trading for Portland's Rudy Fernandez, who has been made available by the Trail Blazers. The Bulls and Blazers have discussed a deal that would send Fernandez to Chicago, but it's believed that Portland continues to hold out for more than a future first-round pick in return for the Spaniard.

The above is an excerpt from an article on ESPN.com about the Bulls inviting John Lucas III to their training camp. I haven't figured out why I decided to look at it, but maybe fate had something in mind. The excerpt mentions that according to an apparently reliable Bull's source, the Bulls still find Rudy desirable. However, not much seems to be on the table, at least not right now. It's a first-round pick, according to the article. If I'm Cho right now, I'm taking a first-round pick, not really caring from who. There aren't that many teams interested, so I'm taking whichever one of those that would most likely have the best draft pick position available in the year. I'm just afraid that Cho has been TOO patient with this situation. How long til all the good offers are off the table because you took too long to decide?

However, the point of this post is...
Portland and Chicago. Rudy for a Chicago future first round pick.
Would you do it? Is it dead anyway?

no, no, and no, chicago is to good, the pick would be  prob end up being a late 20 pick, not worth rudy, i dont think chicago has much they really want to trade for rudy

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/rumors/post/Knicks-reject-three-team-deal-for-Fernandez-;_ylt=AmAKk7U3HDQCwxBNvplShjy8vLYF?urn=nba-267214

if this rumor was true id love it because indi would not make playoffs and wed have a chance for a top 10 pick

    - my 2 cents

If the first round pick isn't in the top eight picks, it's not worth it.  Plus, Rudy will become suddenly become incredible if he's traded.  It's just Blazer luck (Jermaine O'neal, Z-bo).  It'll just help Chicago, and the most we'll get out of it is another somewhat decent player who will never make a difference on our team (sorry for the pessimism, but that's just the way I am).

I'm of the same opinion. I think we all know Rudy's gonna turn out to be the guy the Blazer's thought they drafted once he's traded. Chicago is not likely to get a lottery pick anytime soon. That's the reason Cho would be hesitant to make the move. I just wish something would be done before it's too late.

The Indiana/NY trade isn't gonna happen. That's been established.

He does not want to be here and all he will do is hurt team morale at this point. Either send him down to the farms to let him fill out his contract in Bushbeater Iowa or get what you can now before the season starts. We cant make people play up to their potential, they have to want it. As far as him not being worth what people are offering,so what. I say let that spanish prima donna be someone else's headache. If you can't put the round thing through the circular thing in the NBA you dont get minutes I dont care how they do it in Europe.

I too am leaning towards sending him to Bushbeater Iowa [too funny]. Let him waste away on the Idaho Stampede.

I completely agree.  Good call.  If it is just going to be a pick coming back, then top eight, or at least top 10 sounds reasonable.  Additionally, I would speculate that Cho feels the same way.  Surely he doesn't want the league, his boss, and the Portland community questioning his being worthy of the GM position after his FIRST deal.  He has not allowed Rudy's camp to strong arm the organization, keeping it business..."we will continue to do what is best for this organization".  I applaud him for the manner in which he is dealing with this situation

And just where do "actual players" come from? They sure as heck don't grow on trees! :D

Anyways, the only way Rudy ends up in Chicago is if the Bulls cave and hand over the Bobcats 2012 pick they are owners of, which would be a steal in my opinion! The 'Cats really have no young talent and peaked last year. They could be pretty awful the time 2012 rolls around.

What actual player are you gonna get for Rudy Fernandez anyway?
If you want the Cat's pick, I agree that it's gonna be a higher pick. I can't see Charlotte picking up the pace any time soon.
    New Orleans' pick? Too low.
Deal him to Washington? For WHAT? What'r the Wiz gonna give us? They'll have at least a 15th pick by 2012. After this year, it might be earlier.... I see them making a push in an Eastern Conference that has Miami, Boston, Orlando, and no one else.

Nice Idea but I think the TWolves trade is very lobsided in our favor

Derrick Williams and Budinger are proven players in the league. Claver and Freeland are not

Hawes was playing nice this season and would be a good pick up imo ...

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.
