Slam put together a nice little paragraph about Drexler in their "For Old Time's Sake" feature of their website. Amazing to see how effortless he made flying through the air. It still pains to me that those teams never won a title, but they were the reason I become a BlazerManiac.
If there was ever an NBA superstar that flew (pun intended) under the radar, it was Clyde Drexler. Throughout his 15 year career he played on only two teams, The Blazers and Rockets, and earned some great accolades along the way. Drex won a championship with the Rockets in ‘95, played in 10 All Star Games, played on the original Dream Team in ‘92, was named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history, and was inducted into the HOF in 2004. Drex was also the SEC player of the year at Houston in ‘83 (that fro was bananas) and a member of the PHI SLAMA JAMA fraternity along with Hakeem and Larry Micheau. CONTINUE READING>>>

What was your best Clyde memory? Is he the best Trail Blazer of all-time?

Best Blazer athlete maybe, but to be THE best alltime blazer it comes to more than just the way you play during a game. Which is why Roy is my favorite blazer, when giving interviews its easy at times to be able to forget he makes more than most of us could ever dream of. Perhaps it was his childhood, or that year of working a blue collar (at the time, now a forklift job is turning into a middle class job) before he gave college another chance, or maybe it stems all the way back to his learning disability in which he has struggled to overcome (our generations Bill walton in terms of overcoming social/learning 'disabilities'). It is probably the sum of all things that adds up to why Roy is my favorite sports athlete. Compared to the stars of today, that only catapults Roy to the frontrow of class, and it's only a matter of time before the whole league recognizes his undeniable skills. Let the national media keep forgetting he was coming off an injury most would sit out the rest of the season for.

But then again at least Clyde kept his tounge in his mouth.

If history has taught us anything, it's to not put ANY athlete up on a pedestal.  Wilt, OJ, Larry Bird, Magic, Michael Jordan, and now Tiger.  Point is, these guys are PEOPLE first, athletes second...and PEOPLE make mistakes.  I have been very reluctant to allow myself to really get behind anyone for this reason...until now.  Careful not to put him too high on that proverbial totem pole, I believe Brandon Roy (disclaimer: TO THIS POINT) has demonstrated he deserves the title of best Blazer of all time.  Clyde publicly stated he wanted nothing to do with a leadership role on his team.  Clyde was also a very private person.  Clyde led his team to the finals (twice), the one accomplishment Roy has yet to achieve.  I feel strongly that a Roy-led team WILL do just that, hopefully with a different outcome.  Character, leadership, heart, and work ethic all contribute to my feeling on this subject.  Not to mention the obvious, BRoy's ability.  Also, when asking myself who between those two, I would feel most comfortable with the rock at the end of a close game...my answer is a resounding Roy.  There is only ONE athlete I would currently allow my son to have a FatHead of (in ANY sport), and that athlete is Brandon Roy.

I agree with Crim in that I would have to give the nod to Drexler for best Blazer athlete of all-time.  However, Roy gets my vote for best ever to wear the scarlet, black, and white.

At the risk of dating myself, I like Hawes, became a lifetime Blazer fan because of the Clyde teams.

Nice Idea but I think the TWolves trade is very lobsided in our favor

Derrick Williams and Budinger are proven players in the league. Claver and Freeland are not

Hawes was playing nice this season and would be a good pick up imo ...

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.
