Except that I get a feeling Nike would advertise us much more.  The same could be said with Oden, but he hasn't been on court much, so therefore, we're not looked at a lot, or at least not too positively.  Just wait next year, and you'll see Nike shirts that say "Roy Aldridge Oden" along with a huge fat Nike Swoosh on it.  I'd buy that shirt.

Brandon, lamarcus, and durant woulndt be as good as players as they are now. Us drafting oden, was probably for the best.

coulda woulda shoulda, do you think durant would work in nate's slow it down system?  Right now our team is what it is, get behind it and stop with the we want Kevin because he scores alot of points. You know if we had him we all would be disscussing the need for a dominate force in the middle. dont say well we have camby, the only reason we got him is that Greg was hurt. GET BEHIND THIS TEAM AND START LOOKING AHEAD NOT LOOKING BACK!

If we had Durant, he would not score like he does in OKC, and the Blazers perimeter D would be even worse.
Hind-site is 20/20, Horford would have been the best the pick for the Blazers if you look at it now......

I used to be in denial about this one, but I have accepted the fact we didn't draft Durant (FWIW, I was happy with either choice on Draft Day and still believe it was the right pick at the time).

So to answer the above question, if we havd Durant...we'd be really, freakishly good. Roy, Durant would be this decades MJ and Scottie, Aldridge would fill the 3rd Musketeer role perfectly, and throw in Batum? Game Over.

It's hard to say who else we would have on our team because we built around the Big 3 of Oden Aldridge and Roy, but its still fun to speculate. I still think the Z-Bo trade would have went down because KP wanted Zach's influence off of the team and we'd still probably have had the same pick in the 08 draft because we wouldn't have won 50 games Durantss rookie year, which is what it would have took to make the playoffs in the West in 2008.

I bet instead of trading for Bayless who fell to #11, Portland would have jumped the Nets at 10 and swapped picks with the Nets, grabbing Brook Lopez and still went after Batum b/c KP had been hot on his tracks for a while.

Could you imagine a team with Roy, Batum, Durant, Aldridge, Lopez, Przybilla, Blake, Outlaw and whomever we draft in 2009, 2010, and signed in free agency?

    /Dream Over

I think we could be an even more dangerous team with Greg. As lethal as KD is, there's no answer for a big man in the post who does the things Oden does on the glass and on defense. Just got to hope nad pray he can stay healthy!

yeah cuz this is basically bowie 2 imagine if we had Porter MJ and Drexler idk y portland always pick a big man every time we have a first pick and we do alot of bad picks we missed McAdoo 1972 Larry Bird  1978 Jordan 1984 but we will also do good picks nut it seems when we mess up its bad like the player we missed will end up bein a great player i didnt know till a couple days we traded the the 3rd pick Deron Williams for 6th Webster and 27th pick and a 2006 conditinal pick in 06 WHY!?!?!

Well, like Kim said, we all want Durant now(not me) because we can see how deadly he can score.  But no matter how good you are on offense, your points are determined by the coach.  With OKC, Durant was the number 1 option to score.  In Portland?  I could realistically say Durant would be avg. 20 points, 25 max.  McMillan might be interested in how Durant scores, so he would make him number 1 or 2.  Roy would be 1 or 2, and Aldridge would be 3.  But also, i definitely gotta agree with Alex and truebluefan.  With Nate's slow system, would Durant even score 20 a night?
Don't give up on Greg now, yall.  He's going to prove doubters(Blazer fans or not) that he could be the next big thing.  And wouldn't yall just look silly?

If we would have drafted Durant he would have sat on the bench like Jerry'd Bayless, and his game would've slipped. At the time we didnt need Durant, we needed Oden. And if Durant played for the Blazers, he might average 20 pts a game, not 30. Oden is far from Sam Bowie, Odens showed he has what it takes to be great, Bowie never did. If Oden continues to get injured over the next few years, you can call him Sam Bowie part 2.

if we drafted durant we would have the best 1-2-3 Punch in the league (Roy-Durant-Aldridge) ... & we have enough big men to handle the job at pf/c idc what anybody says i know we would have already made it deep into the playoffs maybe even finals.... we'd be able to challenge for a championship every year for the next 10 years..... but now instead he is our arch rival.... a nemesis... a force we have to stop...

if we picked Durant, he'd have gotten hurt via the Blazer injury bug.
Then of course Oden would be dominating for OKC, and they'd be contending for the championship with their super monster Oden, that Portland passed up on for their gimpy Durant

^ lmfao ^ ahahahahahahahhahahaha.... the fact that oden is still a nobody in these league and that durant is the face of the league tells you what would have happen... portland would have been getting all the hype and his presence alone on this team would have turned a small market team into big market team $$$....  u can't even say oden and durants name in the same sentence without people say WHO? GREG WHO?.... i'm sorry but its the truth....  Oden has been hurt in highschool, college, the nba and everywhere he has gone, while durant has always been in a beast.... kp did a hell of a job building up this team but he blew it on the durant oden front.... ABSOLUTELY BLEW IT!

@Tobyus: Honestly, I SWEAR something like that would happen.  See, this is what I think, which is similar to what you said.  20 Years from now, blazers will have a first pick.  Guess who?  A dominate center and a superstar forward.  REGARDLESS of whether Oden becomes a star or not... guess what?  We pick the forward, because our GM knows of the Blazers curse.   GUESS WHAT?  While the center continues to dominate and becomes the next Russell, the forward would be riddled with injuries.
    I SWEAR THAT WILL HAPPEN.
Also, I want to say, and not that I heard anyone say it, but who ever says "Oh, Durant should have been picked, because we have Camby in our team..."  Would Camby really have been on our team if Durant was drafted?  We would have lost T.O. 25 WAY sooner, so... just something to think about.

I had thought then as I do now that we drafted Oden as we should have. Several reasons point me in this line of thought ..
    1) - If we had drafted Durant, Durant would have weakened our Perimeter defense overall making our team easier to score against ..

    2) - Durant would not have developed as he has now. Portland runs the slowest offense in the league by several factors .. With Roy as our focal point on offense, And LMA being the second, there would not be enough shots to placate Durant or make him appear to be anywhere near what he is currently looking like .. Ergo .. We would still end up looking like we drafted the wrong person in the draft.

These more then anything have me thinking that we drafted the correct player on that draft night . And I for one am excited to watch an see how Oden's game has changed for the overall better this year.

Another thing that sorta strikes me as being funny .. People say Oden is Bowie 2.0, yet in order for that to be true, Durant would have had to have won 6 titles by now .. Yet the guy has only made his first appearence in the playoffs --->THIS<--- last year !!

Portland drafted correctly for need .. rather then for anything else. Oden will be fine, and we will get a super bargin on him when we renegotiate this contract this year as he develops into one of the games premier Bigs ..

    Watch an see ..

your analysis is blasphemy... stop trying to hype oden just because he is on the team we like.... your in denial.... everyone in the world knows durant is clearly the man... he will go down in history as 1 of the greatest to ever play his position...
