I dont know if any of you have had the opportunity to check out a few of the world games that have been on recently, but they've been just what the Dr. ordered. I caught the U.S. squad in a couple of televised " thank God for ESPN] games. One guy stands out. Kevin Durant. What a beast this kid is. His game is so effortless it's scary. I've also been trying to catch glimpses of Batum's improvement. From the blogs and interviews, he's showing that all around skill that made him a fan favorite. I've always said he was Pippenlike with his game. Brandons back to himself, LMA has added some muscle and postmoves to his game, Oden is umm, well i've heard good things, Matthews is a game changer, Camby's protecting the bucket. I like our chances against anybody. We're not superb but we're solid.

Well said Common. Ive been DVR'n the fiba games to get my "fix". Love what im seeing from Batum! I wish we had a guy or two on the USA team, but oh well. There time is well spent getting geared up and improving for the upcoming season and I can't wait to at LEAST start the preseason. I NEED ME SOME BLAZERS!!!

There's no doubt we have a solid team assembled.  But we're not championship contenders yet.  A healthy Oden will obviously help, but there are still things missing.  The main missing thing, as I've said before, is a Brandon Roy who gives it his all every single night, just like Kobe.  I'm pleased with what he's been doing this offseason, and hopefully all of his effort carries on to the court.

You're jokimg right ? This guy is creme' de la creme' ,the fiddle's bow, the cat's meow, the trails Blazer. The number three sg only because he doesnt have that championship jewelry. His presence on the floor alone can be considered bringing it every night. Also, for the record, Kobe has taken more than a night or two off on a few occasions, and i was damned thankful. I bet you if you were to ask Kobe what it was about Brandons game that he wish he had, it would be the composure that this guy has been exhibiting from his pup years with us.

No my friend, what is missing is that nasty pg that strikes fear in our opponents because of his blow by speed, exceptional ball handling, mastery of the pick & roll, and consistent ability to knock down jumpers. As for Oden, i love the kid, but i love the game more. If he brings it and stays healthy, outstanding. If not, we're not going to shut down the barbeque because someone forgot the hamburger buns. We'll be fine with just plain ol wonder bread. Those of us who have been compelled to make a burger on regular bread know that a properly doctored up necessity burger is damned delicious. Championship contention is mental first, talent second. If we think we can win, we're ahead of the game.

Kevin Durant only stands out because the announcers (especially Fran) jump at the chance to say the same damn thing over and over again like a memorization drill any time he even looks at the ball. What stands out to me is the team defense and also the fact that we are taking on teams that have been together for a while, sometimes years and have competed in FIBA before, where as we have only been together for under a month!! That tells me it is more than one guy standing out. Yes Durant is doing his part, but those announcers need to get some new material to talk about.

    I didn't say he wasn't good.
And the last couple of games Durant has made me eat my words, he really has stepped it up another level. He seems to be getting International play figured out. But I still say the whole team is playing top notch defense most of the time, especially Iguadola and Odom... geez even Kevin Love at times.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
