Do the Blazers need anybody to make it out of the first round?

Should the Blazers trade for someone, sign someone or is thier team good enough? my personal opinion is to get rid of Rudy Fernandez. He recently just told the world he isn't happy with playing time so they could either release him and get somebody or trade him to a team like the timberwolves so rubio would have sombody to relate to. their are many good three point shooters on bad teams and i feel they could help the Blazers and they would be happy because thier on a winning team. Another option is if Oden dosen't produce trade him. I really hope he produce because the blazers could use a good defensive power house in the lane. If the Blazers didn't get struck by so much injury they would have went farther in the playoffs i can guarentee it. Thats why i am curious what other fans think the Blazers should do about geeting farther in the playoffs till they win that championship.... GO BLAZERS! 10-11 CHAMPS.

Realistically, a team is never 'good enough' until they win it all, so its a pretty big judgment call to make this early in the season. Personally, with the way Batum has progressed to go along with our newly found bench, I think we are good enough to make it out of round 1, but are still one piece away from contending for the Finals.

If the Blazers get a healthy Oden, then that should be enough.  If not, it will be tough.  We also need a PF with some toughness.  So if we could trade LaMarcus and Rudy and get that.  And trade for a very good up and coming PG with Miller and Joels expiring contracts.  This is likely Millers last year here and if we have to rely on Bayless as our PG, the future looks a little more grimm.

I agree with trading Bayless, Miller or Rudy but why would you get rid of LaMarcus who is one of our cornerstones, 1 of Portland's "big three"? If you traded LaMarcus as part of a deal for an all-star PG that would nearly be taking two steps back and 1 step forward towards the ultimate goal. I do agree the Blazers are 1 piece away, that 1 piece is an all-star point guard or a healthy Oden. IMO

That's the same way I feel.  A healthy team all season could easily put us in the second round and maybe to the WCF, but I agree that there's still a piece missing.  This piece could be just about anything:  Another rebounding PF or C, a younger point guard with loads of talent, or (this is the biggest one in my mind) a Brandon Roy who gives it 100% every night.  That's what makes him a league behind Wade and Kobe.  Until we find this piece, I don't think we'll be winning a championship any time soon.

A solid point is what we need. I could call out a thousand names as to who we need to get us over the hump, but it's a wish list, and those dont matter. I say we keep the squad we have now. If it must be tinkered with, we have to have those who are untinkerable. Brandon, Batum,Aldridge, Oden, Matthews,*Camby, and Cunningham.

Oden will be healthy. Batum will be healthy. Camby as our primary backup F/C. That is all they need to go the the WCF.

Making it out of the first round is not looking ahead enough.  Look toward a series with the east for rings.
If Oden puts on his big boy pants, we are good to go. I hope he dominates, but reality is, we are going on 4 years of waiting, and this girls patients are wearing thin on the subject.
Imo, there will be one move made by February, because the Rudy situation has to be resolved.
Until I see Oden and Pryz, I can only hope Rudy is not traded for another guard.

I like the fact that they brought in Buck Williams to work with our bigs. Personally, i think if Oden wants to be as good as we think he can be, he needs to reach out to Hakeem the Dream for some expert tutelage. He needs finesse to go with his power. A little more Ying with his Yang. If the he starts actually having fun while playing, he is going to be one dangerous man.

Here we go with the retarded kneepad comments again. I'm sure a kneepad would have prevented Oden's broken kneecap. Maybe we should have him wear ankle pads too so he doesn't sprain his ankle.

my personal opinion is to get rid of Rudy Fernandez.
That's your personal opinion? Welcome to two weeks ago! Also Oden will produce, but will he stay healthy? That is the question.

I also think the PG talk is overrated. If we have a healthy Oden who is not getting called for looking at someone, and IF Lamarcus can take his game to the next level like we all know he can, and if Brandon can be a little more aggressive on D and at the beginning of games and if Batum continues to grow, we don't need to worry about Andre  at all. He is gonna tear it up by getting Oden established, running our offense and feeding Roy, Aldridge and Batum. And yes Andre can hit his mid range jumpers.

No Portland does not need anyone else to make it ..

Oden being healthy will be all the difference in the world. With Oden healthy and playing at a high lvl no one out west will be able to stop Portland ..
