Patty put in another good game , this time against Germany. Australia defeated Germany 78 - 43.  In 24 minutes Patty had 16 points (4/5 from behind the 3pt line), 7 assists, 2 steals.  FIBA report below -

KAYSERI (2010 FIBA World Championship) – After three days of offensive struggle, Australia finally found the rim in order to dominate Germany 78-43 in day three of the FIBA World Championship.

On day one the Australians struggled against Jordan and had an offensive burst early in the second game against Argentina, but this time after falling down 2-0, they made a 12-0 run to be up 12-2 to start their dominance.

At the same time that they were scoring easily, they imposed a physical defense over the Germans and held them for only seven points as Australia won 19-7. David Barlow led the balanced attack with 5 points as six of his teammates also scored.

The Germans didn’t have any liberties offensively and continued to struggle, meanwhile Australia took advantage of the turnovers that they forced to score 11 points and dominate the first half 38-20. Patrick Mills led Australia with 10 points, all of them in the second quarter.

Australia placed the game out of reach in the third quarter by finishing with a 12-1 run in the final three minutes. At the end of 30 minutes the score was up 62-31 in favor of Australia and they never looked back.

Patrick Mills led Australia with 16 points and 7 assists while Aleksandar Maric netted 15.  Brad Newley chipped in with six points and five rebounds and visited with FIBATV.Com after the victory.

The next challenge for Australia will be against a loaded Serbia at 16:30.

    Quotes:

Brett Brown, (Head Coach, Australia): “We spent a lot of time watching Germany and paid attention to their game structure. They resemble us with their performance yesterday. We tried to keep the energy for defending Germany and we managed. We look forward to day off tomorrow.”

Dirk Bauermann (Head Coach, Germany): “I want to congratulate Australian Coach Brett Brown. They played extremely well. They passed the ball so quickly and they were so well in defense. For us it was a hard game after 2 overtimes last night. We consumed too much energy physically and mentally last night. I again want to say that Australia is a very good team.”

I likely stand alone, but I am a Mills fan.  I just don't know that he will ever be anything more than a "situational back-up" on THIS team.

I think we all like Mills (and the accent), but just have questions whether his game can translate over into the NBA level. There's no doubt he can play point in the DLeague and overseas, but he was fairly turnover prone in Summer League. He honestly reminds me a lot of Damon Stoudamire, a shooting guard in a point guards body. With that all said, I still hope he gets a chance to compete for a backup job in training camp.

Try to remain positive meese.   That losing streak to close things out wasn''t an accident...just my opinion.   Adding talent, like a Barbosa, would have netted this team what exactly?   You, more than anyone on our boards, has been ca...

Thanks Ricky.   I''ll be watching @ 10.   Haven''t seen enough right hand from Shazamm.   Without the ability to take his defender either way off the bounce, let alone finish at the cup with either hand?   Second rounder at best.

Sug81 I love Iggy but this team has numerous gaping holes throughout the depth chart so signing Iggy is not the best way to spend our limited funds

That roster looks pretty good, but if we would have enough cash Corey or Ronnie brewer would be nice
