How would you play as the GM and matchups against the heat this year, with according to what we have as players so far ?

Well first of all I would let the coach handle that, unless you want to make trades and personnel changes in the middle of the games.

Play tough defense, attack the basket and make a living at the line. Limit turnovers and hope neither Wade or LeBron goes off for a monster game.

After going threw the past two years of games .. I personally think the key to beating this Heat team is rather simple ..

Keep Oden healthy .. (number 1)

Feed LMA .. when he played Bosh head to head the past couple of years Bosh averages 25ppg, but LMA averages 23+ .. with 9 rpg ..

Bosh will get his .. but he has absolutly no way of stopping LMA .. (Neither does UD)

Dwayne Wade can not stop Roy .. feed Roy .. get Roy 20+ shots like Kobe .. ( i know hard as it is with the slowest offense in the league, this is a huge factor)

Batum defending against LBJ .. Batum is perhaps thee single most under rated defender in the league .. (I hope it stays that way)

Portland may just have thee best wing defense this year .. Batum + Mathew's = LBJ and Wade .. both stopped .. (not for long or anything but perhaps long enough)

This is my honest opinion best line up against that Heat team ..
    PG- Roy
    SG- Mathews
    SF- Batum
    PF- LMA
    C-- Oden

Worst case scenario .. we put Camby (former defensive player of the year) directly on Bosh .. either way ..
I think Portland not only has the pieces right now to beat that Heat team .. but I honestly feel they have the pieces in place right now .. to beat the Heat in a 7 game series ..

I like the lineup of Roy-Matthews-Batum-LA-Oden, because we have our two best defenders on their two best players (matthews on wade, batum on Lebron).  If Bosh is scoring too much though we might have to have Camby play a lot of PF

In that case .. Portland could play this line up ..

    PG - Roy
    SG - Mathews
    SF - Batum
    PF - Camby
    C - LMA

Then Camby would me matched up on Bosh defensively, Mathew's on Wade defensively, and Batum on Bron defensively..

Portland would appear to be able to have the defensive players to stop the Heat's big 3 players ..

Which is something no other team in the league can boast ..

Spoken almost like a coach, Hawes...:)  Very much agree, but would add...attrition, or rather, the battle of.  I forsee a contest of celebrity vs talent.  Question of the millenium is, which gets the benefit of the officials whistles more often than not.  Who can stay on the floor longer?  Oden, Camby, Matthews, Batum?  Or Wade, LeBinky, Bosh, Z?  I'm telling you guys, maybe the most anticipated dynamic involving Miami this coming season is how their games are CALLED, not how they are PLAYED.  If that team gets the benefit(s) of, say, a Celtic or Laker team from the 80's...they will win 70 games (which is rediculous BTW).  Based solely on their roster and OVERALL talent, that team shouldn't reach 60, and will have issues with length and size in the postseason, possibly on-ball defense as well.  The BIG 3 are all players that have to have the ball in their hands to score and all 3 like to put it on the floor and create for THEMSELVES.  Among the 3, the best SHOOTER is Bosh.  They are NOT perfect or invulnerable.  Pack it in and challenge everything.  No easy baskets.  Most, if not all of their games will be played with a much higher intensity than any other ordinary regular season game.  We'll see what they have left come playoff time.

I would say shift focus to either Height or Speed.
Those are going to be their biggest weapons, so to completely counter those would be to get either that Height or Speed on our defense.
A good defense will force them to make plays, make players move around, you gotta make these guys uncomfortable. LeBron is without a doubt going to be the hardest to cover, because of that acceleration in the paint, but i think the best guy Portlands got for that is Batum, he's decently sized and he can keep up with him. We need to play those two guys....Pendergaph and Cunningham, we need to see what these guys can do on offense and defense, because they'll be crucial.
I like Roy on Wade, as long as Roy's knee is %100, and Wade doesnt break him like Eric Snow. HA
Bosh-- Aldridge, LaMarcus has got 1 inch and 10lbs on Bosh, and frankly thats not going to be enough, i think. If Aldridge gets meaner in the paint on D as well as offense, for those boards too.
    It really Speed and Height

There is no way to for us to beat them, unless they've already clinched and they're not trying (haha).

There is still only one ball. ..... Same with beating the lakers.....

If I were the Blazers coach, I would use a full court press all game using  AJ, EW, JBay, WM and Nico.  I am still not a fan of a 9 man rotation, we have the young legs/ defense to run other teams into the ground now.

    Their big three:
Bosh - Marcus, Joel, Greg (in that order)
    Wade - Brandon
James - Wesley, Batum (any order)

I think we'll remind Juwan what it's like to be on the other side, by the way. n_n (No means of disrespect to the guy, absolutely NONE.)

Can we beat it? Yes. There is only one ball, as many have said. We know how to do that. They will EVENTUALLY get there. Before we figure them out? Probably not. They will have weaknesses, even though they have a tremendous team behind the big three of Frankenstein, Jekyll, and Hyde. Only by playing will we find out what those are though. But I can assure you we will beat them. That's not just the fan-mind talking either, that's honesty.

you could stick roy on wade then put in LA oden camby and pryzbilla and just have the four of them form a wall around the basket, lebron cant shoot a jumper and oden, camby, pryz would make a fool out of bosh if he came into the house of pain :D LA could pop 3's like he's always wanted to do and we could get offensive boards all night
