*This is NOT a bash Rudy thread*

As a fan of the team for over 20 years, I've seen players come and players go. Most of the fan favorites leave on a good note, some not so much, but in the end, they are always welcomed back with open arms. At the beginning of his tenure with the Trail Blazers, Rudy was mobbed by fans at PDX International Airport, had his own I <3 Rudy shirt created for him, and had arguably the most amount of jerseys worn by fans at every home game. A few media comments about his unhappiness through Spanish outlets that were once small grease fires have now turned into 5-alarm fires with the recent comments about wanting to be released and continuously voicing his displeasure through the media.

So, has there ever been a Blazer before which has went from being one of the most beloved to the most despised in franchise history? Darius Miles is the only one that comes to my mind, but he wasn't nearly as popular as Rudy was before things turned bad.

Shawn Kemp comes to mind. Hopefully if Rudy comes back, he wont smoke crack in the locker room.

I still <3 Rudy, and wish him well. I'm just ready for this to not be a distraction for training camp. I have not personally heard Rudy say anything.
My opinion of NBA agents is right up there with tow truck drivers, bill collectors and other parasites.

If I went to another country , got blind sided with a back injury that could be a life long problem, spoke another language, and wasnt happy with my job, and most important, didnt have to work for a living,  I would want to stay home too.

One would have to think Rudy would have signed off on all of those comments his agent said.
My final answer..Bonzi Wells! He threw the fans off the bus. He used to be huge in PDX, then he popped off and we haven't liked him since.

Maybe he did.  Same with KP, you would think agents would have their hosts best interest at heart, but it doesnt seem like it..

Rudy:  flashy, nimble, charismatic but not an NBA caliber player.  I do wish him well,
however.  He was fun to watch but in the end expendable and now a liability.

I liked Rudy from the start, anyone who dunks on Kobe has my vote, but like Sergio he was not a fit for the style of play the blazers do.I see him performing well with the Suns. I can see how he might be frustrated. Even though he is a sports figure people outright calling you a P.O.S. in the public eye for what months? Probably pushed him a bit to the limits. I know I would have snapped the first day but than again I am not being paid to keep my mouth shut. We might consider cutting him a "little" slack. JMO

Rasheed Wallace, could be interpreted as a fallen angel, although never much of an angel to start with. Hold the dubious record for most technical fouls EVER!!!!

Exactly Unholy...we loved Sheed, mouth or not, when he was leading us deep into the playoffs, but as soon as those wins don't start coming as frequently, then the mouth is used as a reason for concern, etc.

Nobody has ever really cared as long as their team has been winning.  That will likely never change either.  Remember the "Jailblazer" days?  Remember Rider and Ruben, up on the scorer's table, whipping their uniforms off and swinging them around like "homer hankies".  THAT team had all kinds of talent and depth, and won at a fairly prolific clip.  They just didn't have the heart and the self-discipline necessary to do any real damage in the post-season.

Nobody was calling Rudy a "P.O.S." his first year here.  It wasn't until his production began to go down and his mouth, simultaneously opening, that his image began to suffer.  I agree with Kim in that I believe his back injury has more to do with his attitude (and therefore, behavior) than people are really talking about.  All as a result of "The Foul".  I have stated elsewhere on this site that I believe that Fernandez knows that he will never again be the player he once was.  Backs and knees (sorry GO) tend to be chronic.  Another reason to hate on LA.  Imagine if YOU were Rudy.  I just can't condone him directing the frustration, the anger, towards the team that gave him his opportunity.  Granted, his injury and, more importantly, the long-term result of that injury, would anger and frustrate any of us...but he is not dealing with his situation in an adult fashion.  Just my opinion.

While I'm at it...I think it worth mentioning, that "The Foul" happened on OUR floor!  Not to mention, a hated rival delivered the blow.  I think I can speak for all Blazer fans when I call for this team to BRING BACK HOME COURT ADVANTAGE to the RG.  We don't want teams and players coming here and feeling like they own us, own the building.  Like their playing in their own backyard.  What happened to this?  Ariza committing that foul showed a number of things...not the least of which was a SEVERE LACK OF RESPECT for where he was at.  I did, however, like the reaction.  Once again, Roy showing leadership.  Watching the Western Conference Finals series against Utah back in the Clyde, TP, Buck, Duck, and Jerome days really has been quite the eye opener.  Our building was DEAFENING!  Again, what has happened to that?!  Even last season, the RG was louder for the Laker games during the regular season than it ever was vs Phoenix in the first round.  Fans and players alike...LET'S GO!!!...yeah, that's a challenge!  Read my statement...let's bring PRIDE back to the Garden.

Sorry Hawes, got a bit off topic :)

I am a fan of players that play with PASSION and PRIDE

I always liked Hasheed.  I mean his mouth and t's were really really frustrating and annoying after a while, especially at the end of close games, and he had some off court mishaps but nothing serious at all. He still was fun to watch and even though it was annoying, A LOT of the time he was right when he argued and the refs admittedly had it out for him so I totally understand why he did argue so much. I would have too. Even today you hear Barrett and Rice yelling "Ball Don't Lie!" ha ha.
Oh the one thing that I really didn't like that he did though, was when he threw the towel in Sabonis' face during a game. That was not cool at all.

Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.
