    some excerpts...

MADRID, Spain -- Rudy Fernandez is not returning calls from Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan, and the NBA on Thursday was investigating whether Fernandez or his agent violated league rules by threatening a holdout.

With Team USA set to play Fernandez and the Spanish national team Sunday night, the latest developments regarding the disgruntled Fernandez and the trade speculation surrounding Carmelo Anthony added two more subplots to an NBA offseason that refuses to take a holiday.

The minutes were cut simply because we had a four-guard rotation . . . I think in all team sports you have situations where people want more, and yet you have to make sacrifices.

-- Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan

"I've tried to contact Rudy, and he hasn't returned calls [since the season ended]," McMillan told ESPN.com. "So we'll just have to see what happens. We're looking to improve our team at all times, but I don't know what's going to happen."

NBA spokesman Tim Frank said the league was investigating Miller's and Fernandez's comments and whether they violated league rules that prohibit players from publicly requesting a trade.

    ... and more

A league source told ESPN.com that in late June, several teams with draft picks in the teens offered to send their pick to Portland for Fernandez, but the Blazers -- who were being run by then-general manager Kevin Pritchard -- declined.

The Celtics and Bulls have since offered their No. 1 picks in 2011, the source said, and the Knicks have offered shooting guard Wilson Chandler. But with more than a month remaining until the start of NBA training camps, Cho is waiting to see what else becomes available.

knowing what we know now... Pritchard should have taken one of those mid-range lottery picks.

Oh no no, lets be politically correct here Blazer nation. If KP shouldnt get all the credit for success, he shouldnt get all the blame for failure either.....

I agree Kim. KP did an excellent job. Not to mention coming in doing a whole lot of character cleanup. What you do in the wash, comes out in the rinse. Rudy turned out to be an action figure. We thought he had the potential to be a Sean connery type bond, until to be revealed as the Timothy Dalton one episode bust. Lets see if Babbitt can get a 160 threes in his rookie season. If he does, Rudy will be revealed for exactly what he was, a guy who had a chance to be part of something special and blew it.

Rumors have shown that the Rockets are very interested in Dwight Howard and that the interest is mutual.

    I''d trade for Asik.

Sanders better shotblocker, better dunker and around the rim, Asik better defensively. I think Asik will have the better career.
