I feel like this year is one of the best shots we have at winning a championship. We've had recent success against the Lakers. Even last year with all the injuries we gave them problems. This year i believe we'll be facing them often with a healthy oden, a more comfortable Andre Miller, a more comfortable Marcus Camby, a Nic Batum who isn't looking over his shoulder with his increased role, a newly acquired Wes Mathews, and possibly some new weapons in elliot williams and luke babbitt. So can we take them? I hope so ..

The Lakers have made some improvements in their roster. Blake and Barnes. My gut is telling me that Phil Jackson steps away after this year, especially if they win it. I also think they're all getting up their in the age department. If they keep the team in tact and have a coaching change, i feel like they can still be a competitive team but adjusting to a new coach may be their eventual downfall. If that is the case, then that should open the door for the blazers in the future right?

Maybe. The Thunder are on the rise and seem to have some smart guys making all the right moves in the front office so i don't anticipate them making any huge mistakes for their franchise for the next 5 years. I think they'll only continue to get better. We have an advantage having a dominant big man, but they have Kevin Durant, a scoring machine, but also a guy who's really learning how to lead and elevate the play of those around him.

Btw there's a team in Miami that's about to take over the world. To me, i wouldn't be surprised if they do NOT win it this year. I'm predicting that Miami spends most of this year experimenting, trying to figure out what works and what doesn't work. My prediction: they'll eventually find a way to lose in the playoffs and then come 2011-12, they'll just be steam-rolling. Boston and Orlando should be pretty darn good this year as well.

    So here is my fear....
If the Blazers don't win it this year, (which is very possible) doesn't their window just continue to get smaller? Maybe that's not true. It all depends on what Mr. Cho can do to bring in the right players. Maybe it's just that the other teams around the league have windows that are widening. The Miami dynasty is being built. And when that happens, all the other teams in the league are just S.O.L. right? just like the blazers, knicks, suns, sonics, pacers, jazz etc. in the 90s. Those teams just couldn't take down the Bulls. Maybe we have a shot to get to the finals a couple times in the next 5 years, but it's going to suck if we get there just to get knocked off by the Heat. I'm also anticipating another big 3 in NY with Amare, Cp3 and Melo. That won't be fun to have to deal with.

My other fear... is that BRoy isn't MJ or Kobe. Pippen came into the league timid. A push over. Slightly confused out there. But a couple years of playing with MJ and he blossomed. MJ brought out a mental toughness out of almost all his teammates. MJs teammates elevated their game simply bc they didn't want to disappoint MJ; out of fear even. Kobe does the same with the likes of Pau Gasol. Does BRoy possess that kind of leadership? Can he bring out the best out of LMA, Greg, and Nic? All of those guys have room to grow into great great players, but who's going to bring that out of them before this team implodes? As i watched Nic play against team USA on sunday i was hoping i would see a new Nic embracing his role as a go-to player but he looked timid out there. He made good defensive plays and steals, but also turned it over a lot and often passed when he should have shot the ball.  I feel like the success of this team depends on LMA, GO, and Nic stepping up their game to the next level, but also on BRoy to figure out a way to pull that out of them. I don't question the talent. I just fear that they lack the leadership, confidence, bravado, grit, mental toughness to reach their full potential. Of all people, i think Wes Mathews can help bring this out of the team. But i fear that the majority of this new decade will belong to Miami.

I believe all that PGOTF talk, stems from these issues.
I am a fan of the future NBA CHAMPIONS ...

Solid points. I like our chances to contend. If Roy played the majority of pg minutes than he'd have to be more vocal on the floor, but i dont see that happening. A floor general is the one that barks out orders as to where each player should be on any given play. Get the play set called early and the offense has a chance to click quick. Or a pg who recognizes whats what, whos who,and the where's, especially a rebounding pg, and we're off to the easy two.
I am a fan of our new roster playing with and for eachother.

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
