CP3 gets help in form of Ariza via four team trade... Does this mean CP3 is off Rip City's radar?

    http://www.nba.com/2010/news/features/david_aldridge/08/11/trade/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt1

    So basically we have:

    Trevor Ariza to Hornets
    Courtney Lee to Rockets
    Troy Murphy to New Jersey
Darren Collison and James Posey to Indiana

I think this shoots down one theory that everyone has been talking about... Darren Collison. Any talk of him coming to Portland can now be put to rest as he will be Indiana's PG for the next decade.

This also puts some strain on the CP3 rumors. Obviously New Orleans is still not done making off season moves to keep him happy, but with their front office obviously looking to do whatever it takes, what does this mean for Blazer fans hoping that Rich Cho was gonna swing something for either Collison or CP3?

Ariza moved again, damn. thats ridiculous. He needs to find a home, and so does courtney lee, Lee would sure make a nice backup for Brandon.

@commontongue: I have a really hard time believing in Armon. He didn't ever make a mark in summer league. Now, I know the SL isn't always a great predictor (Qyntel Woods anyone?) but he's lookin like someone who's gonna need to show something or become this year's Patty Mills.

Back on the first topic, forget Chris Paul. Simple. If the N.O. made the deal w/o Paul's consent, it's a guilt trap. If it was with his consent, something was worked out.
Let's say Paul's contract ends and he's an unrestricted FA. His value will be too high for a Portland team. No Paul. No Collison. Might sound repetitive now, but what we do have is Rich Cho.

cp3 has been off our radar for a while now.  The hornets front office has made it very clear that they are not going to trade chris paul any time in the near future.  We might have a chance at getting him next year if cp3 makes it clear that he wont resign with the hornets when his contract expires in 2012 but untill then there is pretty much no chance the blazers will get him.

@RipCityVice: Armon not only made a splash; he is considered by many to be our summer league mvp. he needs a little work, but there's no reason he can't become the heir apparent to our starting pg position.

on Ariza ... seriously? we are logjamed at sf/sg. why would we even want to consider bringing in someone to add to it? that just doesn't make sense.

I would say we could use more improvments in that area, specifically in backups for Batum, Babbit is giving off some good vibes, but rookies that shine in their first season are a rare thing to come by.... If you want to talk about "logjamming" check out that back court @ the # 1 and 2 spots.

no one suggested that we go after ariza so im not quite sure what your talking about here.  also tay c, that would be dumb of the blazers to try to get another small forward, thats why they got mathews.  If they signed or traded for another small forward there would be a log jam at sf and there would be a lot of players that would be extremely unhappy about their roles on the team

Ariza?Really? We all know he's almost always been(98% of the time) a small piece  in the puzzle of whatever team he's been on.Even on the Lakers, where Kobe, just like Jordan, made everybody look a lot better,Ariza was mediocre.lots of small forwards could have done what  he did with the Lakers and then some.So Ariza going to the Hornets, to be their starting small forward, should tell you if anything, that Paul could be a very temporary member of the Hornets.

ariza is a great player and if you watched the lakers in 2008 you would no that he was more than just a small piece to the puzzle for the lakers.  Without ariza i doubt the lakers would have won that year.  But with that said it would be stupid to bring him here since there isnt enough minutes at small forward and he is too similar to batum.

Is that why he is listed as Gaurd?
I personally dont know much about these new cats coming into play, but what i do know, its height wins, and if you got a guy who's an inch shorter than your #2 pos. To me the perfect sizes for their corrisponding position is
    PG-6'2
    SG-6'5-6'7
    SF-6'7-6'9
PF-6'10- LA**The Holy Grail of PF
    C-7'+
So in my eyes, this team doesnt really have a go to guy at SF other than Batum, and he cant play all the time, Pendergaph and Cunningham could dominate there if theyre fast enough

Tay c, I see your point about how size wins championships, but if you look at the lakers lineup this last year ron artest was their small forward and he is only 6'7 and they had hannon brown and kobe playing backup for him and they are only 6'4 and 6'6.  So I think what is really important for winning a championship is that everyone in you starting lineup is the right size or close.  also to win a championship you have to have lots of size at pf and center but at small forward and shooting gaurd on the bench, as long as they are powerfull, good defensively, and are taller than 6'4 I really dont think there are any problems.  also if mathews proves to small to play small forward than they still have babbit who is like 6'9.  Also last year mathews proved that he is strong enough, pesky enough, and quick enough to gaurd people like melo and lebron.
