.It's looking like the Hornets are gearing up to keep Chris Paul around.Sure, .not necessarily, but most likely that's what's .going down. And why not? He's their leader, starting point guard, best all around player and only marketing tool. He's why other great players would, if at all, play for the Hornets(aside from a ridiculous contract, naturally). Then .there's the majority of .the NBA, like us, who could, potentially, if  they added Chris Paul, .challenge for a ring.Only a small number of.teams would pass on Chris Paul as their starting point guard(Wizards.-Wall,Jazz-Williams,Rose-Bulls,Rondo-Celtics,Curry-Warriors Westbrook-Thunder and maybe Evans-Kings)..The Blazers, however, unlike practically every other team, could realistically go on a run, rack up many championships, if they added Chris Paul. Now like I said, Paul still might not end up with the Hornets. If that happens, it will go down sometime between today and the beginning of next season. If we're not to end up with Paul as our SPG,then sooner better than later, we should .start Johnson at the point. As I stated a couple of weeks ago,he might even be a better .choice at SPG .than Chris Paul .Johnson's four inches taller,a better defender and rebounder, .has a very underrated offensive game and.for awhile, will be available for many millions less.Thereby giving .us more cap room to make a deal.Or at least helping us to stay at or under the cap without suffering any talent loss. With Johnson at the point we clearly on paper, have the best defensive and rebounding starting five. .Coaches are always stressing these two as the keys to victories and championships. We know we have a lot of talent on the offensive.side.This, coupled with the league's best bench, gives us the most balanced team in the .NBA.We just need to play like it on a consistent basis. From the beginning of .the game to .the end of the game. From the beginning of the season and throughout the .playoffs.Like winners, historically do.And of course we need to stay healthy.I think we have some good .karma on our side as far as .that goes.If we stay .focused,composed. and healthy, or .relatively healthy, some rings could be in our near future.

What about going after Derrick Rose.  Young, talented, but probably not available.  Thoughts?

Like most of the league, the Blazers would love to have Rose or Rondo. However, you're not only talking about the  Celtics' and Bulls' best respective player. You're talking about each franchises' cornerstone player. The guy they're building their teams around. There's only a few scenarios that might make Rondo or Rose a possibility at best. But why?Chicago and Boston would have to ask themselves.Trading away a young, proven, all-star point guard. Both of whom are already at such young ages and early points in their careers(hopefully),the best player on their teams, the cornerstone players and the leaders. And in Boston's case, their age makes Rondo's youth even more critical.Paul, although maybe not quite as exciting of a pickup as Rose or Rondo, would still be a beautiful thing. His offensive game is definitely superior to Rondo's and at least as good as Rose's.and his defense, although not up to Rose's and Rondo's level, is stll solid.Paul and Rondo are both excellent rebounding PG's.Now, for what might be the most important quality of all. Leadership.Rondo and Rose are both outstanding point guards, but have yet to prove their leaders.True leaders.Batmans.Not Robins.Rose has proven himself just a bit more in this case. With Chicago's team makeup allowing for him to grow as a leader versus Rondo playing with the other "big three". Ya see ,we've seen many more times than not in the NBA, where just because somebody was a good at something(rebounding-e.g.) or even had a complete game, did'nt make them a leader.Lots of Robins in the leagues' history. Not,comparatively speaking, many Batmans. Many folks confuse stats with leadership.Or simply don't look past the stats. Is Rondo a true leader? Not at the moment. Will he be?Who knows? Is Rose a true leader.Probably.But not for sure. Not yet.Paul.He's a true leader.Something we haven't had since our championship days.Somebody on the floor to guarantee that we're composed, focused and executing properly on both ends of the floor. Most of the championships won in league history were not by the most talent-ridden teams(excluding the Red Auerbach coached Celtics). But no championship was ever won by a team without a true leader.

At the max maybe 30 people will comment on that  petition. 0% chance Olshey will look at the thread and trade Batum to please those people.

Im not against trading it if it is for the right price

I really really think trading our pick is the wisest and most effective thing to do. This years draft is a poor standard. Ohsley needs to get in a real powerhouse starting defensive centre. It''s all so interesting and I am very excited to see wha...

If the thread said Babbitt beat some brothers you all would be expecting a hate crime. I do not see why this is a big deal. Police beat their wives daily and we do not have a thread about that and that is a real issue plaguing society.
