Hey guys, I have been watching past games and I have seen a amazing athelete, that we had known forever, and known that he was a big play maker. Brandon Roy, he is argueably our best player, but I was wondering... How does he compare to the other big names in the NBA? For me he is up there in the top 10, probably #6

Maybe. What a lotta people measure greatness by these days are putting up big numbers and being athletic/flashy. Does RoyWonder put up those numbers? He can when he needs to and almost always will when healthy. Is he that athletic or flashy? I think the verdict is still out. He's put in the work this offseason to become (more athletic), so we'll have to see when the season starts.
In our minds over here in Portland, he is a godsend-caliber player. And it's truth. Ask someone else, he's another player who is good enough to be an all-star, and can have great nights, but isn't one of the elite such as a (dare I say) LeBron or Kobe or CP3...

personally I think he has just the right amount of flash to be a Blazer, he may not put up 40/7/8 every night, but he goes out there and does whatever it takes to bring home the win. he's an extremely tough player, and is probably the least selfish in the top 10. personally, I'd take a good solid player who leaves it all out on the court over a guy that just goes out there to put up big numbers and make himself look good, which is what BRoy brings to the table. not only does he go out there and play well, he's consistently getting better, which is actually kinda scary.

Hmm..Let me try to rank the top 5:
    1-Kobe Bryant
    2-LeBron James
    3-Dwayne Wade
    4-Chris Paul
    5-Brandon Roy

For me Brandon almost didn't make the top 5. I really struggled between him and Deron Williams.

I really hate to say it, but I think you have to put Kevin Durant above BRoy now too, and Carmello and Daren Williams may be in the conversation too. Some (definitely not all) of those guys are really good defenders too. BRoy has shown he can play D when he wants to. He needs to do it all the time to reach that next level.

Roy is definitely on the list of names for the Top 10. What Roy can do to move up the ladder is playing off the ball, knowing when and where to simply become selfish and take over. Too often I feel like he waits too long to take over a game or just drain a couple of baskets to keep us alive and we eventually fall behind too far for any sort of a comeback to matter. Also, his defense needs to go up a notch. He has the offensive weapons around him now that he doesn't have to shoulder the entire load for the whole game, so he should have some energy to expend on the other end of the court.

Now, if you are talking about the top clutch players in the game, then he is easily top 5 and maybe even top 3 for me.

Couldn't agree more.  As far as overall talent, I'd put him right there with Mello, maybe even with KD, in the top 10.  However, when you need a bucket with time running down to either tie or win, BRoy is only behind Kobe on my list.  Call me a Blazer honk if you want

I think he is in the top 10. I'm not so sure I'd put him above Dwight Howard, Carmelo and Deron Williams as well as the obvious in Kobe, Wade, LeBounce, CP3 but he is in the top ten. He definitely needs to work on his defensive effort being much more consistent and maybe being a little smarter on defense. I just watched a best of Batum blocks highlight vid and noticed several times Brandon was just flat out running to a terrible spot to do anything good defensively. I really hope Matthews rubs off on him.

As far as being clutch though, he is definitely in the top 3, either 2nd or 3rd.

Idk man, untill Brandon Roy can upset a whole country with a personal decision, he will rank #2 right underneath King James.

The reason why I didn't put Durant ahead of Roy is because he really hasn't carried that team on his back as well yet. Last season they only won 20 something games, where as with Roy a few seasons back we were 41-41 with not that great of a squad. Arguably the Thunder had a better roster compared to that year of the blazers where we won 41-41. With Melo, he's shown that he really can't carry a team on his back and make it to the playoffs.

It wasn't THAT James did what he did...it was THE WAY he did it that upset so many people.  IMO, from a players perspective, it was a wise move for both he and Bosh.  In the bigger picture, and in the long run, those types of moves will be the death of the league.  This is why I forsee a stoppage of play on the horizon

If we were actually comparing just apples,Brandon is 1.A after Wade. Quiet as kept, i'd still pick the Natural. He's got a tremendous left hand,is more under control,is bigger, has a better stroke from any distance, and scarily is still learning. Wade is certainly more explosive, but he reminds me of a Do Do [pronounced Doe Doe]bird. Looks great in the air, but cant land worth a damn.

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.
