Dhawes feel free to add a poll for which unsigned free agent you would like to see in a blazer uniform (I know we have 15 players under contract, but with the 15th signee being a point guard...it's safe to say someone is leaving). I like Stackhouse, and am not sure he wouldn't be a good backup as a leader if Andre ends up being traded. We already lost Juwon, if Andre goes too, we are depleting ourselves of that veteran leadership that became a surplus last year, Stackhouse definitely brings that along with playoff experience. However, the player who remains unsigned that I would most like to see in a blazer uniform might be Louis Amundson, what's his perimeter defense skills like? Could he play some minutes at the 3? Is he too much of a "tweener" like Dante?

I would really be surprised if we make any more off-season moves besides a Rudy trade. I do agree about Amundson though, and I think he could bring some much needed energy off the bench at the 4 spot. I really don't see him as a "tweener", I see him more as a pure PF, but he is a great rebounder, and for his size he can guard the paint well. from what I've seen from his days with the Suns, he's a great locker room guy too, which I feel is very important, as it keeps the team's overall spirits up. overall he's a very versatile player that could be an asset on both ends of the floor.

Exactly!  I have been singing "Sweet Lou" praises on this site since FA started, and until now, haven't seen anyone else even mention his name.  I can't believe the guy is still out there!  The Blazers' only real need besides the much talked about one at PG is at the back-up 4.  As you've said, Lou would fit nicely on this roster.  He gets in there and mixes it up...does all of the things that noone else wants to do.  To borrow a Nate term, he is a "scrapper".  I would also characterize Amundson as more of a pure 4.  This is a player who will willingly and on a nightly basis, throw his body around with almost reckless abandon, collecting boards in bunches, and all without wanting any touches or demanding PT.  Very unselfish, a solid defender, and a high character guy.  Great fit

Aside from Amundson, the team might also have to sign Stackhouse as well. With a lot of youngsters on this team, it needs a solid veteran leadership (aside from Andre Miller).

I'm all for getting Amundson. However, is that gonna work regarding Rudy? or even another player on this roster? I mean, I'd be glad to hand over a Rudy (who PHX originally drafted, by the way) and a Bayless for a signed-and-traded Amundson.
Is there going to be a signing as opposed to a trade? I think I'll stick with Rich Cho's saying that they're looking to make a trade (before dealing with Rudy). (Or WOULD Rudy be part of that deal?)

Not much has leaked out of Cho's camp, if anything, but he did tell the Oregonian there is a bigger deals in the works than Rudy wanting a trade, so I would be surprised if nothing else happens this offseason.

Crim...what Cho said to the Oregonian...was it time specific do you know?  I'd be curious as to whether the "bigger deal(s)" were coming in the offseason, or maybe just before the trade deadline...which is obviously after the season is well under way, February I think.  This is going to be VERY interesting.  Some assets depreciate in value with time, and some may actually INCREASE with time.  Hmmm

I completely agree that amundson would be an excelent pickup for the blazers and would add some toughness to our bench unit.  The only problem with signing him would be that it would create a logjam at the powerforward position so i think if we were to offer him a contract than we would have to try to package either pendergraph, cunningham or both in any rudy deal.

This is our first time seeing Cho do such a transaction, so that's the ultimate question I suppose, what kind of timeline can you put on "in the works" if you can make one at all, is he the kind of guy to make a small splash (i.e. signing Andre Miller after Hedo broke our temporary hearts) if the real "big deal" doesn't work out? I don't think so, but again like you said, how would we know.
I think the assistant GM problem will be solved this week, assistant coaches was last week, what's going to happen next week?
I'd agree Rudy's stock is too low right now, and we know he's still worth something to this team, as well as he is still accepted as a member of this team by his peers, 'shoot' all he has to do is say he loves portland, and something along the lines of he was just disgruntled because he wanted to prove to us fans he was a winner.....or something...and boom he's back in the rotation and loved again by us. Not to say were fickle as fans, just saying most true fans are willing to forgive and forget a minor discrepancy such as telling his home media he wants a bigger role on the team that paid for his draft rights, if it gives us a 3 point threat that wants to be a blazer, I'd go out and buy a Rudy shirt the next day.

Personally I'd like to trade Rudy + Dante Cunningham for Goran Dragic (we need some backup at the 1, and Bayless can slide over to the 2, which is where he belongs), then sign Amundson.

I'd say your crazy for thinking they would get rid of Dragic, and I still will, but bring this up next year and it may seem less crazy. I really like the signing of Matt Janning by the suns, having him be mentored by Steve Nash is great, and if that goes well i think it guarantees Nash as a future coach in this league. Also I last heard scottie Reynolds was coming to camp in PHX so they will have a logjam at the point guard spot....just like we do. so no I don't see any trades with PHX happening concerning the blazers.

Go after IVERSON. There is so much speed left out there. You guys are talking about bringing Stackhouse in here, get a guy who's the same size as our SG and almost twice as old. Grab someone who has skills or talents that the team lacks, heck, even Earl Boykins is available. Udoka is avalible he is a well rounded player, or what about Ike Diogu, decent size, still could use some coaching and development but worth considering.

Or get some street skillz in there, try and snag Skip-To-my-Lou/Rafer Alston, you cant tell me with the crossover skills that he has wouldnt be a nice addition to an already talented team.

    as for Amundson, my answer....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTLvZndlssw

I would add a poll, but who is left out there that we'd want/use? The problem with guys like Stack, AI, & Amundson is that they want and need minutes to play. Maybe if we consolidate we could bring in a 15th man, but who, like Juwon, is left to fill that void? Someone who has experience and is there to be more of a locker room presence is what we could use.

Like a Brett Farve type of player, someone who plays because its what they love to do, for Brett its the only thing.
I see the best chance at a player like that is A.I. if you can promise him a championship, convince him, or Sheed.

that would be a terrible move for the blazers.  he could be a locker room issue and also i dont see him accepting the amount of minutes that he would get with the blazers.  Also i dont see why we would need him since the blazers are stacked at both gaurd positions.  They have miller, bayless, and mills at pg, and at sg they have roy, mathews, rudy(for now), and williams.  That meens that if the blazers got ai he would be at best the 5th gaurd.  getting iverson would be an absolute waste of money for the blazers and there is no way they should go after him.
