    From OregonLive-
Fanhouse.com's Chris Tomasson says the Nuggets have made a three-year, $64.7 million extension offer to Anthony, and many are wondering if the Nuggets will trade Anthony if this drags out, rather than go through what the Cavs did with LeBron James. Read More
First off, would Denver even deal him in-division? Secondly, he's an expiring contract so Portland would need to get a commitment from him that he'll sign an extension. Finally, what would the asking price be? I think Melo is a tremendous scorer, one of the best pure scorers in the game, but does he bring anything else to the table? The team doesn't seem to win a whole lot when he's forced into the leadership role. I know he's not well-liked around here, but try to put your biases aside and think, would he be a good piece to the puzzle here?

I think roy and Melo would be dangerous together thats for sure. The nice part is that he wouldnt be "forced" into a leadership role here. I think he could be a nice piece to our puzzle looking from purely a non-biased standpoint and on talent alone. His game greatly improved when he dropped weight and got quicker over last offseason. I like the sound of roy, melo, batum/matthews up top and a mix up of LA/ODEN/CAMBY in the 4 and 5 spots. What does everyone else think? Not sure what it would take to get him here tho, and im not sure either if Denver would deal him in-division. Nice post tho DHawes22...some good 'food for thought".

I wouldn't want Mello. His attitude would be a detriment to the team not to mention he already has had run-ins with Police. No thanks. I wouldn't mind seeing if we could fold Denver into a deal to get CP3 though.

Interesting that you mention CP3 RipCityRevival!  I wonder if Melo is waiting on the Paul situation before signing?  Much publicized has been Melo and CP3's desire to hook up in NY.  Hmmm.  There is MORE food for thought y'all.  Stay tuned.

As for Mello in a Blazer uniform?  I'll pass.  Not because I don't think he would fit, or that he and Roy would be extremely effective together...but because of what I fear THE REST of our team would look like IN ORDER to get a deal like that done.  Not worth the pieces that it would take...and that's MY take

Nice thought on the 3 way trade involving CP3.....something interesting for sure. I think Melo is pry waiting for any word following what CP3 is "actually" gunna do like ya said BDawg. AND he had a really big offer on the table too! We'll see what happens, it could get interesting...it could not. But I almost would hate to speculate as to what we would have to sacrifice to see Melo....its bad enough discussing what it would take for a sure-fire trade with NO for CP3. Good posts!

Yea i can guarantee Mello would not come to Portland, there would be a better chance of BRoy going to Mello, theres not enough in Portland for him to think about coming, not with the situation how it is.
So far the way I see it from this website, the Number 1 spot is very uncertain at this point and now it the more its talked about, Oden shouldnt start the first few games, Mello and Camby are old teamates, but i just cant see Mello in Portland, im sure he'd rather hook up with CP3 and Amare and play in NewYork, after LeBron's choice, everyone is opening their eyes and trying to play on teams with all stars and olympians, and you know what they should its smart, forget the whole " But you wont end up like Jordan or Kobe who built and stuck to their teams the whole time, you wont be the same" thats BS, because they'll be better.

Well, with Melo and CP3 contracts set to expire in 1-2 years, PDX could just outright offer sweet deals to bring both in and not be forced to trade. Maybe, just maybe they would consider the Miami thing to agree for less to win BIG. Portland is on the brink of something very special if they can stay healthy and run more. I'm not a fan of the set offence. It has it's place, but teams that can mix it up win the ring. Hence Show Time. The suns figued this out last year and were knocking on the door.

^ yeah z11weaver i agree with you as far as the only way we get cp3 and mello here together is if we sign them when their contracts are up.  i like mello he is 1 of the best players in the game BUT he is most likely going to nyc he played college ball in nyc and his wife lala works for mtv/vh1 which is in nyc so it only makes sense for them both... and for cp3 to come out and say that he and mello are gonna link up to the knicks in  front of all those people most likely means he really intends to make that happen. at 1st i really wanted cp2 but when u think hard and long about it, is he even worth it? at the end of the day i think we are better off saving our chips till the right fit comes along...

Who thinks up thease retarded trade scenarios. What GM worth his weight would be willing to trade a superstar to a division rivan.....more important, a rival as young and good as the Blazers.....will never happen unless dumbass Kahn up in Minny was running things in Denver.

I still can not figure why in the hell do you trade a talented power forward to a divisional rival so that you can sign the biggest draft bust of the decade................DARKO "freakin" MILICIC.

Portland needs a PG, not a SF.

I second your thoughts lightskin350. I think our team would do better with Mr. big shot than mello since we need a better point guard - right?

Carmello Anthony agrees to a sign and trade and extends contract for 5 years at 90 Mil.

Blazers trade Bayless, Fernandez/first round pick, Pryzbilla, and Batum to Denver for melo.

Blazers offer New Orleans Melo and Andre Miller for CP3 assuming CP3 extends contract for 4 or 5 years.

What do you think?  If New Orleans trades then we get CP3, if not we get Melo.  Sounds good to me.

So Portland would be essentially shipping out
    Jerryd Bayless
    Rudy Fernandez
    Joel Przybilla
    Nicolas Batum
    Carmello Anthony
    Andre Miller

    For Chris Paul?

I know it doesn't really shape out like that because we didn't have Carmello before but still is interesting to look at it from that standpoint.

DHawes - at first glance that list looked pretty crazy, but then when you consider the only people on that list that are going to contribute are bayless, batum, and miller (for one more year) - and that since you have CP3 coming back, bayless and miller don't really matter... not to mention the roster spots it opens, so you could sign mills, i think i would do that. not that there's a chance in hell of cho ever getting to look at that deal.

If Portland landed Anthony, he wouldn't be offered in a groupe to land CP3. And if portland was to move Anthony, he is enough if not more than Chris worth.

I think it would boil down to who you wanted in your starting five.

Option1:  Roy, CP3, Aldridge, Oden, Mathews

Option 2:  Roy, Miller, Aldredge, Oden, Melo

I hope we have the choice.

Melo is about as big of a longshot as CP3 if not bigger. CP3 contract left.....BUT...Melo doesnt look like hes gunna sign his extension so Denver could easily loose him for nothing next summer, so they also have to think about that. Could get something for him now....but then again he is their biggest player and priority 1 is to keep him in a nuggets uniform. Its all interesting talk if nothing else tho

you are crazy if you think Carmello wants to come to Portland as a free agent (not to say we wouldn't be on a list of contenders), he's got too much swagger for portland fans, only blue collar heroes fit in well here. And your even crazier if you think theres a chance they would trade him to us for anything short of brandon roy.
