Several more GMs have been hired and interviewed in the last few days throughout the NBA including the Hawks, Suns, Nuggets, and Hornets. Yet one thing remains constant, Kevin Pritchard is no longer a name being floated around. This should be a wake up call for all the fans that returned their season tickets upon Pritchard's removal. Something went seriously wrong, or he took too much credit for the job that Chad Buchannan and Mike Bourn had done. The guy that was the hottest name in NBA Executive Status, is now an afterthought in the minds of owners around the league. Your Thoughts....

I agree the fact that he is still unemployed not even being mentioned in the searches other teams are conducting speaks volumes about what went down in Portland. Even i can acknowledge that fact and I was very disappointed with his firing.

I don't even pretend to understand the pissing matches that go on with mens egos and testosterone in the war room.

I met KP when he was the interim coach, many years ago. Remember those days Blazer fans ?  I do !

Great guy who believed in what he told fans about making this team loved by the city again.  He did that, regardless of how much help he had. I never heard him take all the credit,  my memory is that he always gave props to his scouting team and the owner, even if he didnt always name them.
Did he get an ego ?  Maybe. Who wouldnt ?
Imo,  the organization pushed him into the spotlight and rode his back through the improvement process, reaped the benefits, and no one was worried about that then.

My personal opinion , is that the Mills signing was a mistake in the first place. Why keep signing pg's Nate wont play ??
When Joel went down last season, it was obvious how short we were on big men. Oden may be the most dominating player when he's on the floor, but his weakness has always been staying on the floor.
People who make those decisions for a living, should make them based on winning a championship, not a fetish. Oden was the right draft choice. They just didn't plan correctly for the amount of time he was not on the floor. Every gm would have taken Oden, no matter what they say now.
I will never know who's final call it  was on signing Mills, KP or Mr Allen.
My opinion will not change regardless of how much " talk" comes out now about KP. He is still a winner in my book, and I am grateful for the team he helped build.
My advice to Cho, put a leash on Quick, and save us all from the media drama..... Lets talk basketball !!

A million and a year off doesnt sound to bad to me.  KP will land on his feet.
Mr Allen, if you are still  looking for an assitant gm, I'm available ;)

Well said Kim. KP was a beast who made things happen. I will forever appreciate his guidance and assistance in taking the Blazers where they are.

It goes without saying that KP did participate in and had value with the Portland Trailblazers. With saying that, having a mostly clean slate brought on by decisions made from those ahead of him and an owner willing to spend made it a bit easier. With the "jail blazer" era nearing an end he was the right guy with the right persona to woo the fans back to the garden. He did a grand job of it. When Kevin's letter was published in the Oregonian after his departure telling me how I should feel as a fan, and giving me permission to continue to support my team, as a fan I was not happy. Frankly I was insulted and just renewed his grandiose behavior which I was beyond tired of. Everyone else seemed to gush once again about the dismissal and how Paul Allen did KP wrong. Was the way it was handled eloquent? No...it was not.
Kevin wholly participated in the drama of it all....and most bought it....I did not... My biggest question on Kevin's true love of the team was when he chose his agent over the Blazers. I know I am in a minority, but from the start I had no emotional devastation with Kevin's departure. From the start I always felt Kevin knew the score. We usually do when we are on thin ice....at the end of the day, Kevin was employed...it was a job...and HR was involved. Sometimes the relationship just wears out it's welcome. By his own admission KP could not let go of players..I always found it interesting that Chad and Mike stayed....and didn't Kevin take credit for that as well? Maybe on his next venture he will take his hopefully learned lessons to fruition.

Paul Allen is not a Dan Gilbert and yet he gets vilified. I am amazed at the level of personal attack on him. The Blazers are not a publicly traded company. If I do
not want to participate or agree with the direction of the team I can take my entertainment dollar somewhere else. I realize that sports brings out the best and worst in all of us but on the grand scheme of things, I am grateful Mr Allen continues to support his team. To attack him is really easy....to not go to a game because of him is harder. I'd say some achieve it but most do not. I am a fan....I have an opinion....sometimes popular...most times not...

I am grateful for the role Kevin played in the greater whole of what has been a wonderful couple of years. I, however am more excited for the here and now...and the future. I do not go to the Rose Garden because of the GM.....I go because of the team....I am excited about fewer sound bites...drama...leaks...and will give the new regime the same opportunity I graciously gave the former.

That is a very good point about KP's chosing his agent Debra.

I was a KP fan, don't get me wrong, but signing Mills was not what got him fired. That one year minor contract made no difference to KP's job. SOMETHING happened. SOMETHING is going on wrong right now. He's not "taking time off" he's getting shoved to the curb by the NBA. This tells anyone using deductive reasoning that something is very very wrong in that scenario. Maybe it is partly his agent, so get a new agent, but if he fires his agent and something really did happen, then the agent will spill the beans to the media. Regardless of how much love I had for KP, this tells me that we can't even begin to imagine what happened behind the scenes that produced the final result. You met him and talked to him once while he was at work and putting on his showtime face. That hardly qualifies as a testament of what happened behind the scenes. Would it be the first time we as fans allowed our selves to be deceived by our Rose City colored glasses?

Wouldn't it be ironic if he landed in Denver of all places? Because all the talk was Warkentein would take KP's job, yet he may end up taking Wark's...

Amen Debra!  You may THINK your opinion is not a popular one...but I would argue that.  BlazerNation was only ever really given ONE SIDE of what was going on in the saga that was KP's eventual dismissal.  From that, many formed an opinion.  Hopefully, moving forward, we can all look back and say that we learned something from this ordeal.  We learned NOT to jump to conclusions.  We learned NOT to just listen to ONE side, but rather...DEMAND to hear the other before forming an opinion.  As many have said, Paul Allen is very easy to attack.  He is somewhat of a recluse, and will never come back at anyone, including media types.

Personally, I was not happy to see KP go.  I didn't however point any fingers or assess blame.  In the beginning, I was most upset, like alot of you, at the timing and the WAY that it was done.  Hearing the other side shortly after with regard to the timing made alot of sense to me and pacified my frustration.  My error was assuming that the timing of KP's dismissal wasn't thought out enough, and that little or no regard was given to Kevin.  I would later learn that that was not the case.  I still have issues with the franchize being "front and center" on a national stage(the NBA draft) for reasons not flattering.  That was somewhat of an embarrassment.  That said, I have learned that I DON'T know everything, therefore I will wait to point a finger until I DO know who was most at fault for draft day.  I will say that Penn seemed almost "giddy" during the broadcast.  Sickening.  That, however, is a personal OBSERVATION...not an assumption

Who knows what the truth is ??
Mills has turned into more than a one year minor contract.
There is a reason things happen behind the scenes, and fans arent supposed to know about them.

With the Bobcats talent right now it seems like a good bet that the pick would be within the top 10 in one of the next 3 years.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
