What grade does Portland deserve for their offseason so far?
    A (5)
     9%
    B (31)
     58%
    C (15)
     28%
    D (1)
     2%
    F (1)
     2%
    From SI.Com-
     WHAT WENT RIGHT

    Camby settles in
Fourteen-year veteran Marcus Camby is a superb fit with Portland's slow pace, deliberate half-court offense and coach Nate McMillan's ongoing desire for a rigorous defense that protects the rim. The Blazers were 10.5 points better per 100 possessions when he was on the court after coming over from the Clippers at the trade deadline last season, and even if Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla come back healthy this season, Camby can slide to power forward on occasion. His contract extension, signed during the playoffs in April (making it essentially an offseason move for our purposes), is expensive (about $21 million with another $5 million in incentives) but short term (two years).

     WHAT WENT WRONG

Reports of Rudy Fernandez being unhappy with his subsidiary role in Portland have been pervasive almost since the day the Spanish Olympian and Euroleague star came to the Blazers. He regressed while Jerryd Bayless developed last season and would seem to be the odd man out on a deep roster. Portland needs to move him (or Bayless) before the opener.
     BOTTOM LINE

Allen can afford the pricey upgrades Camby and Matthews provide. But getting rid of Pritchard -- who made the erstwhile "Jail Blazers" respectable -- is a bad omen, even if he did find a capable replacement in Cho.

    B- Overall

So OKC adds Aldrich and its an A- offseason? Really? I really don't see how Utah bettered themselves either and Minnesota having a better offseason than us so far is the cherry on top. The only thing they got right was giving Denver a C.

Asst Coaches Buck Williams, Bob Ociepka, Bernie Bickerstaff

I agree with you. I think people feel that the addition of Al Jefferson was a big + for Utah, but yeah losing Boozer and Korver - don't see how that move overcomes those losses.

Just judging what we gained by what we lost, I think I have to give us an 'A' so far. I was apprehensive about seeing KP leave because he was an integral piece in turning the franchise around, but Cho gives off the impression that he knows exactly what he's doing.

Outside of losing Monty, which was a huge blow in my opinion, I like the additions of the 3 B's. Ociepka seems like he knows his D, Bernie can add some more diversity to the offense, and Buck needs no explanation why he is a great addition. Also, I can't take into consideration losing Monty because he was going to become a head coach sooner or later; it was inevitable.

Signing Camby was probably the move that set us over the top this offseason. He was a major factor in why we were so competitive down the stretch and to have him for two more years is going to be great, because he can help mentor Greg but also come off the bench and give the big man a breather if he gets tired of in foul trouble.

I felt that Wes is an upgrade over Marty and I love the youth that we added in our 3 rookies without giving up too much in the process. Armon looks like he's going to be a great backup point, Luke has the work ethic of a champ and will be that scorer off the bench we desperately need, and Elliot could be the steal of the whole draft.

Compared to the other team's grades, Portland should be higher, however, you failed to mention that OKC also signed Durant to an extension, five years I believe. With that said, in order to get an "A" in my course, you have to go above and beyond, really WOW me. Portland has done a solid "B" job so far. Getting that one major deal done would push it into an "A" but we have yet to see what the reality is of that. Solid B, maybe a low B+

Those grades mean nothing about the NW to me.
Utah is still Utah, Denver is still Denver, and OKC is OKC.
The Blazers need to be ready regardless of changes ........

Its too early to judge the blazers off-season moves. We all know that at least one more move will be made (Rudy) and possibly even more.

Boozer, Korver, and Brewer, Ronnie Brewer is a decent guy, cant forget about him. I'm surprised Sloan didnt head over to chi town and thrown on an jersey for old times sake.

I'm with you. This is definitely wait-and-see. I am okay with Rudy setting sail(obviously, this wasn't a good fit...) However, if Nic or Jerryd become part of trade talks,
I believe it would be a horrible mistake. They have developed organically-and beautifully-as Blazers. There is WAY too much potential with those two to ship them out. Mr. Cho? Please hang on to these guys. They are going to explode, and soon!

I think its an A- because they re-signed Durant for the long term. speculatively one of the top five players in the league maybe top 3 i would consider this an A+, Aldrich helps them solidify their middle a bit better. As for Minnesota i completely agree with you on there grade. They made a lot of moves that dont make them any better or worse (worse if anything) although i think losing Al Jefferson will be interesting... It very much depends on the development and gelling of Jonny Flynn, Kevin Love and newcomer Wesley Johnson.

Does anyone really believe that Ricky Rubio is still going to play in Minnesota?

Awww, no love for the Twolves Kim? :-P

I agree, not a whole lot has changed in our division this off season...if anything OKC is on the rise Aldrich is nice piece but he's no game changer, I think Utah will still be Utah even with the losses the team will get 50 wins that's what Jerry Sloan does, and Denver is king of the hill. Next to the Southeast Division, I think we have the second best Division in the league. Divisional series are going to carry more weight, as well as fighting for home court. As a fan you can't ask for more, you think Boston fans get hyped when divisional "rivals" come to town?

We didn't do bad, but we didn't do TOO good.  I'm satisfied with where we are at right now.  Of course, if we snagged Chris Paul somehow without losing Roy, Aldridge, Oden, and Batum, now THAT'S an A+!  Nonetheless, I'm actually excited to see Armon Johnson play (I've yet to see him play).  I hear he hustles and has a fine defense.  He won't get much minutes, though.

Watch the Blazers 2010 summer league games on youtube and you'll see Armon Johnson.
He's a stud. Glad we signed him and not defense-less Patty Mills.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
