    From Brian Smith-
The Blazers have made a qualifying offer worth $937,000 to Mills, which he has yet to accept. The non-guaranteed deal does not expire until March 1, 2011. Thus, if Mills chooses to play in Europe this season, the Blazers would still own his NBA rights. Portland also has the ability to match any offer made by another NBA team to Mills.

The Blazers' roster is set at 15 players following the signing Monday of rookie guard Armon Johnson. But Portland can carry at least 20 players into training camp. Thus, there is a chance Mills could still compete for a spot with the Blazers in October. If this happens, Portland and Mills would eventually have to reach an agreement about his contract.

The Blazers are about $3 million above the NBA's luxury tax — set at $70.3 million for the 2010-11 season — following the addition of Johnson. Portland will likely try and find a remedy for the situation if the team makes a trade before the season tips off in late October. CONTINUE READING>>>

I think Portland can only have 15 players signed and under contract at one time, so I believe Patty will have to wait for some sort of consolidation move if the team is to retain him. Also, Patty would have to accept the offer from the Blazers as well. Odd situation and I really don't know how it's going to play out. There are rumors swirling right and left daily it seems like.

Thanks Hawes for clearing that up!  This answers the question I posed in your 'Armon signing' post.  I too have heard many of the rumors and wasn't sure which had possible validity, due in large part to the ambiguity of the Mills situation.  VERY interesting.  I continue to stand by my position that the best course of action for the team is to have their roster set (or at least close to) going into the season.  Most believe (myself included) that at least one major deal is coming involving the addition of a rotation player, likely a starting PG (sorry Kim).  That being the case, I feel it important for chemistry purposes that this happens before camp...to ensure the deepest run possible in next years post season.  Especially important because the position in question is that of THE playmaker

Imo,  Mills will not be on the roster when the season starts.

Dre is not the long term solution, and Rex is not ready to take over.
As sick as I am of pg musical chairs , a decision has to be made. I can only hope they stick with this one more than a season.

Stop the music ,  make the decision based on whats best for the team,  not  the owners fetish.

I still want to see EW, he has the things I would change about Rex if I could, wingspan and more height !
I also <3 me some AJ.  I read somewhere AJ was the closest thing to GP the league has seen. :) !!

There is a trade coming, but I still dont think the Blazer brain trust is in panic mode, like the fans are.
I don't want any pg who costs more than Rex,Rudy,Dre, Pendergraph, or draft picks,  in any combination.

Imo, Nic and Dante should be as untouchable as Oden/LA/Roy.
As far as the "pgotf",  I don't consider 2 seasons far enough into the future to loose guys with such high ceilings.

Thats still my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

To go another season with so many rookies is not a good idea. We need a couple of vets and atleast one young bench scorer. If we want a Center, go after Hawes from Philly and Dorrell wright can be signed as a free agent. We can trade our 2nd round...

Thanks Ricky.   I''ll be watching @ 10.   Haven''t seen enough right hand from Shazamm.   Without the ability to take his defender either way off the bounce, let alone finish at the cup with either hand?   Second rounder at best.

Sug81 I love Iggy but this team has numerous gaping holes throughout the depth chart so signing Iggy is not the best way to spend our limited funds

That roster looks pretty good, but if we would have enough cash Corey or Ronnie brewer would be nice
