After reading this article from DIME, it sheds new light on ads on NBA jerseys becoming a real reality. With NBA salaries at an all-time high and franchises losing money right and left, its probably inevitable that we will see some form of advertising on the uniform on some teams sooner rather than later.

    Snippet-
On Monday, two NBA D-League franchises entered into landmark deals that will serve as a blueprint for future D-League team marketing partnerships. Leading the way was the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, who signed the very first deal with Lone Star National Bank, followed by the Erie BayHawks who partnered with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM).

“It is very important to us and Commissioner Stern to keep our identity intact, but we are also excited to be able to strengthen our relationship with the bank,” said Vipers president Bert Garcia. “Lone Star [National Bank] has been with us since the beginning and they’ve always been a great supporter of Vipers basketball. It’s appropriate that, after a season in which we made so much history, that we continue the trend by becoming the first team to enter into such an agreement.”

My question for you is, would you buy a Portland Trail Blazers jersey if it came with advertising on it? Personally, I don't like being a walking billboard so I would have to pass on the branded jerseys. I'm a fan of the Blazers, not Land O'Lakes Butter for instance :D I know Soccer fans buy them up in grips, ads and all, but its just not for me.

I'm not much of a jersey guy in the first place, but if I bought one, it wouldn't be with advertisement cluttering it up. I like clean and simple uniforms and ads would just mess that up.

Not big on jerseys anymore, probably because I'm a little older now.

I think jerseys with ads would just be too weird for Americans, cars OK, jerseys probably not.
I would like the Adidas/Reebok contract to end soon so teams can get who ever they want making their team equipment.

Unfortunately Hawes, I'm going to have to disagree with you.  I would NOT buy a cube of Land O'Lakes butter simply because it had a picture of Roy on the label...but I would buy a Brandon Roy jersey with a Land O'Lakes butter ad on it...provided that it (or whatever advertisement) didn't overshadow the player I was wanting to publicly endorse.  I DO have a problem with advertising on the jerseys.  Just not ENOUGH of one to not proudly support my team.  We will see what goes down with the upcoming CBA.  Maybe the advertising won't be as necessary?

Yeah and after a while I could see the NBA start advertising "Congratulating the Lakers on another Title!" on a Blazer jersey.

Go watch the movie Major League II. It would look like a bunch of bush league players out there. Although Michael Jordan probably would not mind as much as he plastered his face on everything. I would only agree to it if Kobe gets to wear the TamPax promo. Sorry for being crude.

Greg wants a fresh start. Portland wants a fresh start. And thank you, Siccolo, for comparing this to B Roy. Any draft prospect is going to be pretty impressed with what GO can do on the court... even a 75% GO. A kid that has no idea what NBA game...

To go another season with so many rookies is not a good idea. We need a couple of vets and atleast one young bench scorer. If we want a Center, go after Hawes from Philly and Dorrell wright can be signed as a free agent. We can trade our 2nd round...

Thanks Ricky.   I''ll be watching @ 10.   Haven''t seen enough right hand from Shazamm.   Without the ability to take his defender either way off the bounce, let alone finish at the cup with either hand?   Second rounder at best.

That roster looks pretty good, but if we would have enough cash Corey or Ronnie brewer would be nice
