and this article should make us feel that way, I know for one I'm guilty of this prejudice all too often without thinking about it, and while I don't give instant praise for people admitting to drug (or even more so, sex) addiction, I bet I would look through kinder eyes at a recovering alcoholic than a recovering eater....anyways just thought I should repost this article for those who don't check NBA.com as often as I do.

I should have added something like RIP Mel Turpin to that headline or something, and while at first glance this has little to do with blazers, in reality it has everything to do with it. We as blazer fans have some rabid expectations for our players, and we berate them for an eternity if they don't live up to them.
Rudy wasn't the player we hoped he could be, get over it, Sam Bowie (like a lot of 7 footers) had health problems and trouble staying on the court, and even though he was great while healthy, that became a problem. The Jail Blazers didn't want to act proper in the early 90's, and didn't have respect for the fans that adored them, life goes on, "it's not the end of the world". Oden is likely to have more knee problems later on in life, maybe even sooner as in during his career, leave the guy alone it's not like he does it on purpose, and he does want to be great for this (mostly) patient city.

I think this could be a little too much. An NBA player being ridiculed for a weight issue, may surprise you, but after the things that i have witnessed this summer, i think that weight teasing is the least of the issues.
Granted, any type of teasing, is uncalled for, but it happens, and their is really nothing we can do about it because this is far from a perfect world. What bothers me, is the sense of possession that fans seem to think they have over a player, anything from this harmless teasing because we can or a whole nation disowning a player because of his desire to change teams, yes, LeBron James. We looks at Oden and we some of say, "wow, what a huge guy." while the rest of us are saying "okay, this is your last chance." It is valid to feel that way because, good health is a key ingredient to an athlete, before jump shots and rebounds comes good health and sometimes it may not always be something you can control. But this is a professional level ladies and gentleman, good health is such a basic attribute among all of the players in the NBA and other sports. You are going to be graded harshly on everything you do, example, look at my man LeBron. All he wanted to do was win, and his team wasn't really working out for him, so he figures out a deal where he can go play on a team where he is almost certain he can get his championship, and after being called "the chosen one", after everyone in the nation followed his career since he emerged into the sports scene, they disown him over night. Imagine what they're going to do to someone with a minor weight problem. Look at Glenn Davis, uh hello? He is and most likely will always be called " Big Baby" not because he throws huge fits when LeBron James doesn't let him into his Vegas hotel room, but because he is a big person(nothing wrong with that) and he has a very distinct baby face.

All i am trying to say is i agree with you, there is a significant problem with the relationship that lies between NBA players and their fans. But there is also a limit to how and when it is acceptable and when it is completely uncalled for and unnecessary, believe me i wouldnt mind if it all went away, but i know that will never be, so until then we can only hope to control it or for it to have limits.

Jermaine O''Neal, Drazen, Z-Bo, Sheed (I know he was already a star but still). Also Drazen was buried under Drexler and Porter.

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.
