Cho's "big deal" in the works? Maybe some news on Monday?....I HOPE

    Ok so our new GM Rich Cho is flying to Las Vegas to speak with Coach McMillan on Sunday. Im sure we have all heard that Rudy is on the backburner because there is supposedly a deal cooking up. (ClydeFrog had a post about it). I wanna get everyones take on what they think it might revolve around (if there will be a big deal even), and when you think some good news about it will submerge. I'm hoping Monday we will get a lil hype to get stuff buzzing again. But like most of us...I want all this to get done so we can move on, I'm tired of constantly searching for CP3 news involving us, im sure ive beaten that enough on GOOGLE lol. Anyways, let me know what you think, who were possibly going after, what you would like to hear out of that "meeting" and so on. Long Live the BLAZERS!

    I took care of the double post- no worries.

    As for the trade, I bet it is something out of left field. Usually when the media gets a hold of a trade, the trade is either done or dead. Assuming Rudy is being moved solo or only with Przybilla from what the rumors were, my guess is we could be making a play for Tony Parker, but that is purely speculation. Also, teams who are in 'sell mode', meaning they had a tumultuous offseason and may be rebuilding, would be good targets to look at.

    Cleveland and Toronto immediately come to mind, but Tor has nothing we could use. Mo and Varejao have been tossed around here, so that wouldn't shock me. Golden State is seemingly always willing to trade and with Curry at the point, they have put Ellis on the trade blocks. Maybe Collison is in play for the Hornets is they are keeping Paul. Who knows?

    cp3 or mo williams? well idk who is gonna get mo williams but my feeling is they just traded for a new pg ramon sessions and want to start him and have said publicly that pg booboo gibson will get lots of playing time this year so i don't think that leaves much room for mo williams. and also the cavs were already trying to trade him before the draft. cp3 would be great... and i'm sure eventually he'll be traded somewhere too... but idk if they wanna trade him here. or maybe they do and its all been under wraps(smokescreen)? i guess sometime this week we'll find out... =)

    I hope we trade Rudy to N.O. for D.Collinson. I know, you think he is for young ant he is not superstar, but... 2-3 seasons and Collinson will be bater then Tony Parker or Mo Williams (he is now better then Mo).

    Either way....Im excited to see how our new GM plans on making his mark and hopefully its one that makes a BIG statement. It would be so much easier if we could bundle rudy in a package for a new PG....since thats obviously what they are after. That way we its all done in one move. Well see though....thats what makes summer so much fun!

    I think (fear) we are underachieving with Mo Williams, even if Varejao comes with him, considering the pieces we hold to upgrade that position.  Potentially cancerous presence in the locker room too.  If we were to consider a "bad guy" personality, it should NEVER be the motor that drives the car-the facilitator-the PG.  I would feel better about a big being the quesitonable personality, since there is an element of toughness inherent with those positions ("Birdman", Rodman, Sir Charles to name a few). 

    I'm in no hurry for a deal.  I would rather see it done before the start of the season (for chemistry purposes), but as long as Cho pulls the trigger on something before the deadline...I'd be happy.  Better to "get it right" than to act hastily to appease anxious fans in the short term...only to be ridiculed by those same fans later for a mistake.

    As for who?  The only thing that will surprise me, is Cho bringing a name here that has actually been talked about.  I could sooner see something like Jameer Nelson becoming a Blazer in a 3-way sending Paul to Orlando...simply because I haven't heard his name (or read it on this site).  Whatever happens, I feel VERY confident that it will be the right move.  Go Cho!!

    im 100% with ya BDawg......Mo is not necessarily someone id wanna see in a Blazers uniform let alone Varejao, never was a big fan of either. But as far as some of the names thats been tossed around they are definitely attention getters (no more than CP3). I got faith in Cho since he is most likely holding onto a blank check from Paul Allen lol. And obviously they want a "young" veteran point guard otherwise we would keep miller for now and develope the young talent we have behind him to set ourselves up for the long-run. Just my opinion though. Im anxious to hear what  happens, but also anxious to get it done right and move on and get the season rollin'!

    I definitely do not like Mo or Varajao! Now there is someone that shouldn't have made the All Star team instead of Andre Miller!!! Also Mo is NOT even close to an upgrade to Miller. He only shoots threes better but he's not a great passer nor does he runs the offense well, he's kinda like Steve Blake except he whines way more and plays worse D.

    I just don't understand why everyone wants to get rid of Andre so bad!! Yes if we can get CP3 that would be nice, but Dre is highly underrated. Plus we may have to give up Oden and Batum to get CP3, then whats the point in that?!? He wouldn't have as much talent to work with so it kinda is a wash. Camby is getting old and we need someone like Greg to go up against Bynum, Howard and those guys. Besides, he is an iron man that plays every game!

    Gregs more like the tin-man lol. but yeah andre is an underrated PG for sure.

    Can we stop using the ESPN trade machine? The meeting has been moved to Monday so Cho can attend the Shake It Til We Make It gala. Good for him! It's good to know that he is putting a high pirority on class. I doubt news would come as early as Monday or Tuesday, but maybe something by the end of the week?

    Yeah I heard it got pushed to monday too. I was hoping some leaked info would reach someone, somewhere sooner than later....but your pry right RipCityRevival, we'll be sitting back till the end of the week most likely.

    Monday is to soon to expect anything. But my take is that a decision is being made on Mills/Johnson. I like that Cho gets Nates input. It should be his decision..... Johnson has always had my vote.

    Rudy will not be dealt with until after he plays in the world games, so other teams want him. His agent needs to realize he damaged his own trade value last season. I hope Rudy stays in Spain so he can be a rock star again.

    Thank you Quick for the great piece on what Mr Cho ate for lunch. I feel so much better knowing that ;)

    Well Monday has come and gone...No word on anything BIG with Portland other than the signing of "Nates Boy"Johnson. By doing so tells me that Rudy is definitely gone. All this talk about dumping our big name players for CP3 is crazy. Paul had stated that he would only want to come to Portland if its core players were along side him. My proposal is to offer up Miller, Rudy, Mills, Elliot, Freeland and picks. Maybe some cash if that what it takes. By doing so clears the log jam we have with our reserves and guarantees a winning team with little to no chemistry disturbance. In my opinion, Batum and Pryz need to be left out of the topic of discussion. The major road block in any trade equation is Stern's threat to fine a team 5 million bucks for talking to Paul. This is total BS. Why wasn't this imposed on Wade, Bosh and Riley??? I can't believe this was never a major topic of discussion.

    How many years until Freeland drops out of the news? For the last 2 seasons I have heard it was the last year the Blazers held his rights. Then theres Claver and Koponen.
    Whats really the contract situation with the Euros ??

    Very good questions. I had totally forgotten about these two guys... Heck, throw their rights in there too. PDX needs to hurry up and get a good PG to allow the gelling to take place to ensure a Championship legacy.

    Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
