In order to get Chris Paul, we are going to have to give up some valuable pieces. Now first off, I am one who would be very much in favor of trading for Paul for many reasons. The trade would definitely involve Andre Miller, Pryzbilla, and future draft picks.  I have heard different sources include Oden, Batum, and Bayless, but only two of those three. If we do land Paul, we will for sure give up two of those last three players, or get to keep one of them if you're an optimist like me. So with that being said, who of those three players is the one you would like to keep? Or in other words, if we traded him, would most likely become a star with another team?
Bayless- Backup Chris paul, could be best bench guard in the league next year and has great explosiveness
Batum- Everybody loves him. Great perimeter defense, pippen-type player.
Oden- Number one pick, possible future of the franchise, could be a dominant center

As long as we only have to give up two of these guys and get to keep L.A. and Roy, I'd do the trade in a second.

And if we dont complete this trade, it HAS STILL BEEN A SUCCESSFUL OFFSEASON EVERYBODY! The team, if healthy, is in great shape to compete for the west.

I am a fan of winning.

Oden stays.  No Oden, no title.  Even this team with Paul and, hypothetically Batum, cannot and will not win a championship without a dominating big.  With G.O. healthy, the Blazers have that.

I know we have to give up talent to get Paul, but its either ONE of Batum and Oden not BOTH. It would cripple us too much defensively. I'd do anything possible to keep Oden though, because Paul would do wonders for the big fella. CP3 is a better player than Greg, but I'd have to think long and hard (thats what she said, haha) about giving up Greg for Paul, because to beat the Heat, we'd need his defense and inside presence.

Yes, it has been a good offseason, we are getting our players back from injuries!
I would trade all of the players you have listed EXCEPT for Oden and Batum.
we have some recent draft pics who will grow and mature into studly backups for Paul and when he can back out of his contract then go wherever he wants to in Mills and Armon(?) dont remember his name. with Batum at the SF and Oden at the C, we are fully loaded as a full lineup offensively and defensively to overpower most teams. we have a full roster and can throw a lot of players at the Hornets for Paul, but if we can get okefor (not a good speller of weird names) as well in the trade, that would be a good backup for LA. We got a rich owner in Paul Allan who can throw some cash incentives in too.

Everyone remember, Portland was the one that has already made an offer to NO for Paul (pre-draft), so to make this happen they're going to have to show the Hornets that they are willing to offer the original deal and then some. They have to prove that they have more to offer than NY, ORL, & DAL., and to do that, it's gotta be Joel & Andre's contracts, extras in Jerryd & Rudy, the centerpiece player in Nicolas, draft picks(whatever they want because we won't need to dip into the "young talent pool" for a while), and as much cash as Allen is willing to give them. No G.O. though. With Joel gone, and Camby & Okafor being true PF's, we won't have a true center without Greg, besides his beast is about to awaken, can't give up on him now, because just like BDAWG said above, NO DOMINATING BIG, NO CHAMPIONSHIP.

I don't know what school of business you went to, but pulling out of a trade, and then going back into trade talks, after your key trade piece demands a trade, doesn't give an organization leverage to force us into throwing in more pieces than previously offered. "IF" anything it allows us to retain a bit.
P.S. I'm getting sick of all this speculation about Chris Paul and whatever else Point guard that farts in our direction, we have a very underated point guard in Andre Miller and I wish we could give him a year without constantly throwing him under the bus.
NO doesn't need Andre, so quit adding him to all these trade ideas unless your talking about sending Andre to a third team, or you plan on waiting until February for this trade to happen. I would much rather prefer us to not get our hopes up, and to not keep throwing the chemistry this teams trying to gain away, we need to just throw a minimal offer at Paul and continue as business as usual. Maybe it's my own fear of greatness coming to light, but I just feel like this is the tainted way to rise in the association.

Crim, he is in trade talks and WILL be traded IF we trade for paul because he has a very large expiring contract that is extremely valuable to a team like N.O. under new management. But yes, I feel like he is a bit underrated and can help this team if kept.

Think of it this way, if your trading away your franchise player for expiring contracts, and you are going to get back people like Andre and Joel, then it would make most sense for management to wait until after the season starts, maybe close to the february trade deadline before they pull the trigger on that move. After all, who's going to sell more tickets, Andre or Chris Paul? Sure they would probably like to get something set in stone prior to the season if they were more interested in building a team for the future and letting Monty's team gain some chemistry without Paul in the building. However, their owners are hurting for cash, the minority owner was set to buy out the majority owner, but the oregonian reported that they may be having setbacks due to the minority owners wealth coming from his offshore drilling company. However if its the expiring contracts they wan the most, then that catapults Orlando (Paul's first choice as of yesterday) to number one in the owner's eyes, as they have some young talent (if you can call daniel orton talented) and a fading superstar's expiring contract that would sell some tickets in the meantime.

It all comes down to what New Orleans wants to do, what they need, and what they can get.

If Chris Paul leaves the hornets then count on the shit storm of negative media that is going to hit Portland. They will ridicule and rip him apart just like most of you have done LeBron. From the reaction of the majority  of fans, everyone seems to get angry when more than all star and or Olympian get together on the same team. So Cp3 might be the last thing you want.....

No one's hating on Miami right now, and Riley is getting praise for being credited as the mastermind. The only bad publicity comes to the players on these type of things because this time around they look like the ones "playing god" or calling the shots, leaving the front offices more or less blameless, besides, as the Marilyn Manson said early in his music career, "there is no such thing as bad publicity," and I think that could be more true for a small market team.
