Why not put together a package with NO whereby we are able to help them rebuild, keeping Paul, but sending Collison here.  In this scenario, we KEEP Nic.  Everybody wins.  Everybody.  We have expirings, good young, inexpensive pieces and even a disgruntled who may be a good fit there.  Just a thought.  Your thoughts...?

While NO would prefer this strategy, I think by Paul demanding a trade, they are backed into a corner and have both hands tied behind their back. They really have no choice now but to deal Paul and build around West, Collison, and Thornton.

theres no way they get rid of collison before paul they believe collision is the future and the replacement and paul wants out while collison has bought into the system and played great, not good, GREAT for them last year. they believe he is just scratching the surface. and he will play for cheap! potentially putting up similiar numbers as paul....

It's not a lock that Paul is coming to the Blazers. Yesterday it was the Knicks and now it's Orlando as his #1 destination. Just because Portland has the best offer does not mean anything. Chris fired his last agent and signed with Lebron's team.....so that basically means a whole lot of politics. I don't think Paul will ask for the things that Lebron had in Cleveland like family and friends riding on the team plane or someone from his circle having a job with the Cavs......Paul does not have an ego like that.
Bringing Collison to Portland would not make any sense at all because he needs the freedom to run up and down the court getting his points and assist in that manner plus he is not as good of a shooter as Chris. Nate likes bigger PG like J.Jack, Blake,Miller.

My overriding thought here guys, was the NO franchise trying to stay in NO.  Their fear, a valid one, is filling seats in the event they lose their "face of the franchise".  They could stay afloat and in NO by keeping Paul and dealing Collison.  Their situation now is by no means a "normal" one.  Paul is in his prime and therefore doesn't necessarily NEED to be replaced just yet.  If we could enable them(not directly) to put a piece or two around him besides West, making them competitive...everybody would win.  NO may have taken on too much water now to stay afloat however.  They seem to be imploding now.  If that is in fact the case, my point is agreeably a moot one.  Paul ALREADY having his mind made up going into Mondays meeting also makes this a moot topic.  Just throwing out ideas

when your rebuilding a team that is in the middle of selling (although the projected buyers have been rumored to be suffering from the offshore oil disaster) you don't give away young cheap talent, you trade for it.

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
