For me, it has to be the first time he dives on the floor for a loose ball, outworks the opposition, comes out of the pack with the ball, and ignites a fast break!

Also, I am really intrigued by the lineup we can roll out with Roy at Point, Wesley at the 2, and Nico roaming around the perimeter at the Small Forward slot. I bet Coach Nate is having a lot of sleepless nights, thinking of all the ways to incorporate new defensive schemes and full court traps. They say the best offense is a good defense as defense leads to offense. The defensive potential for this team is off the charts right now and I want to see how well he progresses from a rookie to a second year player.

The first time Wesley and Batum come over and trap the point guard, forcing an errant pass which B-Roy picks off, passes to Batum on the 3 on 1 break, and Nico lobs it to Matthews for the alley-oop..Boom-Shaka-Laka!

Defense. Check out this part of an article that was written last year...

First, this season the Jazz have employed a new defensive grading system.  After each game Jefferson Sweeney, the Jazz video coordinator, will look at the video of every defensive possession, and put together the grade for each player after each game.  Which Jazz player has consistently received the highest grade for his defensive prowess? Andrei Kirilenko? Ronnie Brewer? Deron Williams?

Nope—it is undrafted rookie Wesley Matthews.

Matthews has been able to find playing time because of his defensive abilities.  He will do the small things on the defensive end to help the Jazz win basketball games.  Matthews seems to be fearless, regardless of his defensive assignment.

For a coach like Jerry Sloan, the ability for a player to play tough, hard-nosed defense is paramount.

This guy is solid. I'm stoked we have him.

Sick find Jason! Keep the info coming. It'll take an inside presence and team defense to beat teams like the Heat, so I welcome this addition.

I'm with Clyde with the Matthews/Batum "We need a defensive stop...right now!" combo.

I have a feeling Matthews will be logging in a lot of late game minutes.

Yea, I have the feeling Matthews will be a lot like Travis in the sense he'll rarely start, but you'll have a helluva time trying to take him off the court in the 4th quarter.

I like everything I've heard so far. He sounds humble, he seems hungry, and he sounds like he still plays because he loves the game. This team will need that at the end of the season. Once it becomes work, you lose the passion and the heart that it takes to win Championships, he sounds like that isn't the case with him and I look forward to seeing him fitting in.

If he can do what I've seen on highlight videos and I'm sure he'll improve during the season, I'm excited to see him on the court for us!

There is one thing I notice he does extremely well. And thats transitioning from offense to defense. We don't really have a player who does that consistently who isn't a point guard.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
