I was looking through the NBA.com top 25 free agents and most of them were either already taken or unimpressive. One that got me a little curious though, that hasn't been mentioned at all this summer, is Josh Childress. I know, I know, injury prone, but he has spent the last two years healthy and playing overseas. He is a RFA and Atlanta could match anything a team could offer him, but having just signed Joe Johnson to a max deal they may be tentative to match even an MLE for the guy. He has until the 15th to actually opt out of his Olympiakos contract so he isn't officially on the table yet, but he is an aggressive perimeter defender who is not afraid of going to the paint. Given he has been playing overseas the last couple years I am betting he has worked on his perimeter offense as well. As far as I know, he hasn't been a trouble or head case for any teams he's played for. Unfortunately, when people hear the name Childress, their mind goes back to the video of his nasty injury. Hawes, think you could dig up that clip?

I don't know of the injury you're talking about, sorry.
Childress on the Blazers isn't my ideal idea. We already have Batum and Babbitt at the 3 and I've always thought he was a little overrated. I don't think he's putting up great numbers in Olympiakos either.

I haven't been able to find the video. The injury in question was in a game about two years ago, it's what sent him to Europe after recovery. He went up for a rebound I think and came down on his back leg. His knee bent completely in the wrong direction. It looked like Gumby. Really nasty. They thought it would be career ending. I've searched YouTube and NBA.com and Google. Nothing is coming up so don't worry about it. I figured I'd throw it out there for discussion's sake.

I think we're good at the three spot. If anything, i would have tried to get Travis back, but rumor has it that he's signed a deal with New Jersey. I wish him the best.

I was just throwing that out there as an overall topic. If Portland is still pursuing CP3, which I haven't heard much about it lately so that means it's either completely dead or heating up again, I was curious as to the interest in Portland especially with Travis now signing with New Jersey. Childress was ranked 12 in the FA class by NBA.com.

I'm from Europe, and i know how Childress  play in Greece. He was one of 3 leaders of team (1.Kleiza ; 2.. Teodosic ; 3 Childress), but I think he was NBA player, Europe not for him, but in Blazers I want see another players. Sorry, i did many mistakes, because I'm not from USA ;D And I read news today, and found this trades: 1.Blazers and Heat- Miller=Chalmers ant Beasley.  2. with Detroit -Camby= Gordon + 1st future pick. 3. with spurs- Babbit= Jeferson+Mason. What do you think about this trades?

First of all, the Miami one has been discussed. Not many of us like that trade at all. The others are news to me, but they don't look like the salaries would match up. Gordon and Jefferson both have huge contracts. Not to mention Gordon plays the same position as Roy and would be very unhappy coming off the bench. You can make an argument for Roger Mason maybe as a solid 6th man, but that is about all there is in those trades. I hope the Blazers stay far away from any of those. IMO

Ditto RipCity. RJ, the audacity to have my initials. If you cannot play with the likes of a year round threat like the Spurs, i certainly dont want him here. He always struck me as a pouter. And we dont do pouters. Ben Gordon, another pond rippler, no. Roger Mason, humble, team player, experience at the point, can give Elliot not only a run for minutes, but can teach him where to get his shot off. I like Roger. He is a civilized version of JR Smith.

My mistake on Childress. The injury I was remembering was Shaun Livingston's dislocated patella. I knew it was one of those guys that came into the league with a fro.

Mr. Hawes, Whats the likelihood, and what would have to happen in order to go after a kid like Devin Harris?

I think the reason Lillard says he likes McCollum is because their games are so similar. How can you not like CJ McCollums game. For real Im on the trade LA for the Wizards #3 pick bandwagon, then draft Noel, or trade it, or maybe get DeAndre Jord...

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.
