Should the blazers take a look at Allen Iverson?

If Iverson would sign at the league min & accept coming off the bench. would he be a good option to help fill in the scoring void when brandon roy needs a rest. when the guy is healthy and has his head screwed on right he can put up numbers...

That's the problem. Can he handle being a role player?

Iverson should have been one of the best point guards in the history of the N.B.A instead he was an out of place 2 guard who only wanted to score and live the life. No, he wont come off the bench, and he has never had his head screwed on right...pass. The same can be said for Sheed. He had the talent and skills to be one of the best PF'S in the history of the N.B.A, should have bee an all n.b.a candidate every year, a perennial all-star, and an M.V.P. Its too bad.

Again, I must bring up Chris Anderson. This is not too dissimilar. Iverson basically was shunned from the league the last part of last season. He has been forced to take a considerable amount of time away from the league and may have an understanding of what he risked through his career. With that said, you also run the risk of revisiting the JailBlazers by taking him. He never seems to avoid conflict. I think you look at other options first and if you do look at him, take your time to get to know him before you take it seriously.

Iverson is a tremendous talent. He is also the biggest little man who has ever played that position, period. He wants to win. I love A.I..

Thats exactly why i cant have him here. His game has never let me down, but his decision making has, and we can ill afford to have distractions now. Not with new guards trying to earn playing time. Iversons presence demands that he get minutes, but i beleive that would stunt the growth of Elliot and Armon. And probably wouldnt be good for Bayless either, since he seems to favor the Iverson style of courageous, yet sometime costly play. Its to bad he doesnt have a Lindsey Hunter mentality. Our points need a teacher.Rod Strickland comes to mind. CP3, love him. Id rather have Deron Williams.

I stopped reading after this. He wouldn't do it in Detroit, Memphis, and even Philly. The guy has some serious ego problems and puts himself ahead of the team. He's not talented enough anymore to warrant being a starter on a good team, but he still thinks his job is to go out there, throw up 30 shots, and score 35 a night. I'll pass.

Iverson just stated on his twitter that he'd be willing to take less money and accept a lesser role like coming off the bench.....  the point here is he would "only" be here to score & spread the floor when brandon roy is on the bench resting... idk about you, but i think roy plays to many minutes at times and when he sits our offense goes stale..  do you guys really trust rookies? bayless? lol... i tell you this much. bayless, rudy fernandez,  they'll be lucky if they get to stick around here without getting traded. they are not reliable, bayless is simply put a "gunner"  and fernandez is a lazy defender, he wants to shoot shoot shoot but plays no kind of D.  and if you guys wanna talk about impeding someones progress, what do you think the andre miller signing has done... impede bayless progress!

HELL NO.... In my opinion anyways...  Did anybody see him coming off the bench last year, he is a baby.  Some serious ego issues going on there.  Plus, he is not exactly young anymore.. No need for him here in Portland.

thats the problem this team is "To Young" we have no vets with playoff experience, only true vets on this team are andre miller(if he isn't traded) and camby which i like... personally i think andre miller is a good player but may slow down our running game considerably....  iverson would make a great back up point for some team... hey maybe he'll join the rest in miami lol...

I agree with you 100%....I remember reading reports when A.I. was in Denver how he loved to party every night and it really rubbed off on Carmello and J.R. Smith. This team does not have a leader in the locker room. As a fan of Roy I would love to see him step up to the role of being a leader. Roy leads by example and their is nothing wrong with that. Bayless and A.I. do the same things on the court and it would not work even if Iverson took the vet's min.........IT WOULD SIMPLY NEVER WORK because both Miller and Roy need the ball to be effective and the same goes for Iverson.

Finally look at the diffrence at Denver with A.I. and with Billups.........enough said!!

HECK NO! I saw some NBA players who had played with him talking about it on NBA tv once. They all hated it. You build a team around Iverson with people who are willing to commit to defense and watch AI play offense. That won't work here. He was a great offensive player, but his teams usually blew.

you guys don't get it. a.i is a changed man. his family is finally healthy and he has kicked his drinking and gambling habits.... this is about him coming off the BENCH! not building a team around him nor him being a starter... BENCH! BENCH! BENCH! someones gonna get him and i wouldn't be surprised if he got comeback player of the year....

No way! Iverson sucks now, plus his character and work ethic doesn't fit with the current Blazers. Bad idea.

Iverson is a head case. we don't need him. we already have a veteran pg, and a quality backup at sg ... the last thing we need is to sign another guard just for the sake of signing another guard.

We have a veteran in Miller and a great supporting cast we don't need an expensive trouble. If we go for any PG at this point it will be CP3.

andre miller is ok, he is to slow though. has no kind of jumpshot... reminds me of a poor mans rondo without the speed... all pass, no outside threat at alllllllllllllllllll!  how are you supposed to spread the floor with him as the starting pg? lol...  he'll be lucky if he doesn't get traded by tommorow

Loved how he played, but sadly, I think his time is over.

The second a team is looking for a PG to put up big points; the quicker it will fail. Pass first is what we need and Andre is quick enough to catch the defense sleeping and score easy layups.

I completely agree he could be that voice on the court we need. Lamarcus just isn''t that guy and Damian can learn some on court leadership from him. A small lineup when we need a score bad of Dame, Wes, Paul, Nic, and Lamarcus would be potent.
