With Carlos Boozer and Amare Stoudemire leaving the West for the East, the once deep pool of big men in the West is now getting awfully shallow. By my count, the only sure-fire locks to make the team are Yao Ming, Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan, and Pau Gasol. I think his main competition will be from the likes of Luis Scola, Zach Randolph, Al Jefferson, Carl Landry, Paul Millsap, David West, and Chris Kaman. Aldridge has the benefit of being on a winning team and if the Blazers have a great start to the season and LA can up his points to about 19 and rebounds to 9, he should be a shoe-in with Roy.  What do you think?

Lamarcus is going to need a lot more than hope to establish himself as an all-star. He has got to forge an iron will. Lamarcus isnt soft, hes nice. Unfortunately, there isnt much of a barrier in its description by NBA standards. A few people are going to have to endure a few tastefully placed elbows, and hard screens by Lamarcus before hes taken seriously. He can play yes, but he has yet to develop that Tim Duncaness that i anxiously await. I also think he can stand to work on his explosivenesss. He needs more power in his coree and legs.

I don't completely agree with this shuttlesworth. I think you can be "Nice" and competitive in one person. I think of myself as a nice person. I am often times too nice to people, but when it comes to competing I am a thorn in your side, I don't quit, and I will bleed a LOT before I let someone take me out of a game. I'm a small guard, but that doesn't stop me from going into the post if it is what I see open. I end up on my back a lot because I want to do everything to win. That is what he needs, tenacity. For guys like LA, there is always tomorrow. For guys like us, we play for reputation, we play to get selected next time we shoot for captains, we are raised on the court where these things make a difference. He's Aldrige, he never had to sit out. He's always had tomorrow. It's a mindset that until they are Juwan Howard and facing the inevitability of retirement that they realize these things now. That is what needs to be fixed if Aldrige wants to ensure himself an All-Star spot.

More Sheed, less Duncan is what I want to see. LA has to want it for himself regardless of who goes where. He can still be a nice guy.

We will see one of the new east powerhouses in a 7 game series soon....

Jesus, love the screen name, but I'm not typing shuttersworth all the time.

I think he has enough Sheed. All he does is shoot jumpers. I wanna see a little more Mailman/Barkley. A little Amare. He has to develop that interior game and attack the hoop. It will make Brandon's job a lot easier.

I think his game is going to stay the same, but he'll benefit from not having team's swarm and surround him like he's the superstar of the team, which is what happened in the playoffs. Once Greg gets rolling, LMA will work the high post with Oden and make defenses pay for doubling down on Greg. He shouldn't see many double teams himself either, which means he'll have a field day in the post. He should make it as long as the team gets off to a great start and he puts up slightly better numbers.

I think he'll definitely be on the cusp, the thing that might hurt him is actually Batum's growth. If Batum can improve his offensive game enough. Remember, in All-Star voting the people vote for two Forwards, they are not subdivided by SF and PF. If Gasol is the starter and Duncan gets chosen by the coaches as the other PF then Aldridge could be out. Who are the SF in the West that could challenge that other Forward vote?

As much as I harp on LaMarcus, he SHOULD make the All-Star team if he improves even the slightest bit. If he doesn't make it, then either a fringe star like Millsap or Scola goes off and has a crazy year or LA didn't do anything to stand out from the rest of the pack. I think for his sake and the level of patience from the fans, dude better make that All-Star team with this light of competition.

he wont be an all-star until he starts playing like a real POWER forward.  getting 7 rebounds a game isnt going to get him on the all-star team, even without boozer and stoudamire in the west.

to me, aldridge's point avg. is fine where it is, but a little raise wouldn't hurt.  even if the points drop a bit, i wouldn't worry too much, as long as he's scoring efficiently, or getting to the line.  What i want to see is an increase in his rebounds(like each and every one of you guys. lol).  idk, 9 RPG?  that sounds better.  However, with Oden(healthy) next year, i wouldn't expect him to do that.  But I at least want to see an increase.  another thing that actually had me a bit worried was the drop in BPG.  L.A. has been avg. at least 1 BPG or something like that since his career started, but there was a drop this season.  I hope he goes back to avg. 1+ BPG.

And develop some nastiness.  That'll be all he needs to be an all-star.

and kinda off topic: if oden can stay healthy, i hope he becomes an all-star.....  That'd be awesome to have three players from our team on the all-star team.  And I hope that will motivate our team to work harder and beat the crap out of miami.  Now THAT'S NICE!

With Al Jefferson getting move to Utah, Deron Williams is going to make him look like an All-Star, much as Paul did to West. LMA's going to have to bring it, even in a talent-ridden big man Western Conference.

found a better trade than Simmons which I tweaked only a little bit to make it more fair

Cavaliers get: LaMarcus Aldridge + future picks

Pelicans get: Anderson Varejao, 10th pick in the draft (Blazers)

    Warriors get: Ryan Ander...

But I feel like worse teams than us would offer that so you never know he might want to come back where it all started... then again he could hate us with a passion and want to go absolutely anywhere else

I don''t like Dwight, but he''s a top center in the league. I say top not thee top because I''d easily pick Marc Gasol, Joakim Noah, and maybe even Roy Hibbert over him.
