Carmello Anthony apparently has been quite vocal about wanting to play in New York. The only way for that to happen is through trade, but New York doesn't have any pieces to offer in that deal. So, would Blazer fans be interested in Portland running interference and trying to pick up Billups by adding their pieces to the pot? If so, who would you be willing to part with in order to make it happen? Would Denver be willing to let Billups AND Anthony go?

Or would Denver be willing to trade Billups for Joel's expiring contract and Rudy in an attempt at a FA next offseason to try and make Mello want to stay in Denver?

Denver would be smart to blow up that team if they must deal Melo to New York. Personally, I wouldn't deal him to NY for Gallo and Curry. But Billups has a couple of good years left and they should jump on that and deal him while they can and start the rebuilding process. Two things stand in the way though. First off, they want/need young talent. We're talking about Batum, Bayless, expiring contracts for 1-2 more years of Chauncey and one of those years may be negated if a lockout is in place. Second, divisional rivals rarely deal with each other which makes it harder to see occurring. Billups, like Nash, is just too old of a player to give up Nico for. Now, I think both players are better than Batum now, but there's a lot more gas left in Nico's tank.

So you think Batum has to be involved if Portland were to try and make a deal happen for Billups? Just clarifying.

Billups is as old as Miller, No way do I part with Batum or Bayless for him.

Right, but if Miller is part of the deal then they get cap space after this year and Portland gets an upgrade at the PG spot. He's a veteran PG (like miller) with a better jump shot. He'd be like D-Fish to Kobe for Roy. Either way, Bayless is not going to become a PG. He is an undersized SG, It's just what he is. He could develop those PG skills, but they have him on the wrong skills workout regiment.

Just a note, Bayless had a 6:1 assist to turnover ration against the suns in the first round.

But yeah, Billups would be awesome on our roster.

True, but Bayless still can't run an offense and his ability to pass into/through traffic is still poor. He was driving to the hoop and passing out to open wings mostly. He doesn't have the ability to see the plays progress or the floor savvy that you need in a true PG.

If you are considering dealing with Denver, then I think Ty Lawson should be in the discussion.  With Billups, I'd have to agree with Hawes.  With the lockout looming, getting value from him may be too difficult

Yes, I firmly believe if Portland is going to make a 'splash' for a star this offseason, Batum will be demanded from the other team. He's great, young, athletic, can shoot, and one of the top defenders on the wing. He's basically our biggest trading chip considering Brandon and Greg are essentially untouchable and you don't trade big for small, taking LMA off the table. I would not deal Nico for one year of Billups.

No, neither would I. I wouldn't put him in the CP3 stratasphere. I wouldn't even put him equal to Tony Parker. He's in the aging Jason Kidd, slightly better than Andre Miller category. You don't put Batum on the line for that, but you could offer a Bayless since we are pretty jammed at that position right now.

Portland would be foolish to deal Batum for anything less than a youthful perennial All-Star. I'd even haev a hard time pulling the trigger on Batum for Parker due to TP's age and injured history.
CP3, Deron, Rondo, Rose are probably the only point guards I'd be okay trading Nico for. Will Batum ever live up to this pedestal we fans are putting him on? Who knows? But I've been impressed with the amount of progression he has shown in all courses of his game and defenders of his caliber just do not grow on trees these days.

The good thing is that the guys that were "beat up" didnt show to be injured seriously or anything. Might have been more verbal abuse than physical

Still dont like this surrounding Damian

Henson will be solid down the road but his ceiling is more like Taj Gibson. He is a great role player but not elite like Sanders and Ibaka could be if people were not so willing to shoot on him.
