After the free agency spending spree which has saw Drew Gooden get $7 million a year, Rudy Gay getting MAX money for his age and time spent in the league, and the Hawks maxing out a 30 year old Joe Johnson (reportedly), Aldridge's 5 years/65 million deal doesn't look so bad. With a couple teams on the verge of being shut out in free agency, mainly the Knicks and one other, there is no doubt in my mind someone would have offered Aldridge a MAX contract and we would have had to decide if we were going to match it or not. So, although he's not the player he should be or some of us want him to be, he's still relatively young (24) and hasn't hit his peak yet. I can live with $13 million a season for his production instead of either losing him for nothing or MAXing him out.

    I'm proud of you Frog....
Once we see him with a constant center Portland will fall in love all over.
I was thinking last night , that Hawes should post clips of the 2007 summer league, where Oden and LA played together and made all Blazer fans drool !

I needed that video to restore the hope. I mean really, I kinda forgot about this type of play from our team. I just keep thinking of camby missing the dunk in the playoffs. I hope we can keep these two on the court this year. oden at that weight is ideal.

honestly I think L.A. is one of the biggest problems with the blazers....here is a 6'11 pf that won't even get under the basket and rebound the basketball...all he wants to do is take jumpshots...when you rebound the basketball you ensure your team an offensive possession....9 times out of 10 the team that out rebounds the other team wins the basketball game..

Oh he is, but comparing to what his contract might have been if we hadn't extended him. We got a bargain.

There's no doubt the Blazers got a good deal by signing him before the season. Teams like the Knicks and Nets would love a big like Aldridge. Think the Bulls wish they could have LA back? Well they could have offered him the MAX as well. Rondo was also had at a huge bargain as well for 5 years $55 million. He'd be guaranteed a MAX deal after those playoffs he just had.

Nice Idea but I think the TWolves trade is very lobsided in our favor

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.
