Chicago has gotten a lot better this off season too. All the free agents I wanted are no longer available. Lets hope the rookies Babbitt and Williams give the Blazers the defense and shooting they need.

I would have liked to see Korver come to portland, but I'm almost even more thrilled he went East. Blazers are looking better and better for next season. Hopefully this will aleviate some of the stress on our still young talent next season. Only team to improve in the west is golden state from what I can tell.

Looks like its Matthews or bust for Portland..Morrow gone

WojYahooNBA GState's Anthony Morrow has agreed to a 3-year offer sheet worth approximately $12 million with New Jersey, a league source tells Y!
GS would be foolish to not match that.

Bye-bye Reddick. Either the Bulls get him or the Magic match...

WojYahooNBA Y! Source: Orlando's J.J. Redick close to signing three-year, nearly $19 million offer sheet with Chicago: http://tinyurl.com/27xx5ex
Bulls are shaping up very nice if they can get him signed, a lot of shooting to take the pressure off of Boozer. I still think Carlos is overrated and though Bosh/Amare would have been a better fit.

If Portland does what it should,(everything they can to make it happen) the biggest move this year will be the Blazers acquiring chris Paul.
Just imagine, on opening night having starters of Brandon, Paul, LaMarcus, Greg or Camby and(Dante) (since Nicolas will be the lamb and Allen's $$$$$$'s will be the shepherd)

Ray Felton to the Knicks..can't believe they depleted their team for years just to end up with Felton and Amare. I'd almost rather sit on the cap space and take on a lopsided trade-

Knicks got some pretty decent pieces in that sign and trade, they may make the playoffs with the team they have now. The East is going to finally be entertaining in the first round of the playoffs.

i'd love to have chris paul but its gonna be hard to make that happen.  the truth is our best bet in developing young players who wanna be here... but somehow someway we need to build this team around roy, we need pieces that compliment him. the 1 thing this team is lacking is a dominate small forward, Batum is young and is more defensive than an offensive player.. and we actually need more of a all around sf... someone like josh howard, josh childress? ,  udonis haslim?, matt barnes? richard jefferson? tracy mcgrady?  1 of this guys will be a nice piece at the right price....

A few minor signings with impacts on Portland. First-

The Grizzlies will sign free-agent guard Tony Allen to a three-year, $9.7 million deal, according to a league source.

Boston wanted re-sign Allen, but were unwilling to give him a third guaranteed year.

This means Brewer is really no longer an option for Memphis, meaning he could easily end up in Utah, therefore not matching Matthews offer sheet.
    Next up-
The New Jersey Nets have reached an agreement in principle with free agent guard Jordan Farmar, Nets President Rod Thorn announced tonight. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released. The agreement is contingent on the passing of the required physical.

If Utah does match, it takes this man off the market for the Blazers, who were interested in Jordan.

    Dang, Haslem stays in Miami-

IraHeatBeat Just heard from Udonis Haslem. He has turned down far larger deals from the Nuggets and Mavericks . . . and will be back with the Heat!
Glad he's not in Denver, but wouldn't have been bummed to see him in Dallas at all.

I heard Ben Wallace is staying with Detroit for 2 years/ 10 million too. Good for him to finish out his career with the Pistons. He shouldn't have left them in 2006 for Chicago, but the Pistons were smart and didn't even try to match that deal!

Will D-Fish EVER retire? Damn, he's like the energizer bunny....

Miami may get 1 or 2 titles with the way they are putting together their roster, but no more than that. Haslem is over 30, Z has 1-2 years left in him, and they still don't really have any backcourt depth. Not to mention they dealt away 4 picks to get Bosh and James, so they won't be able to add talent through the draft for a while. Look at how much it hindered the Wolves earlier this decade when they had to go 4 out of 5 years without a pick due to the Joe Smith 'money under the table' shenanigans.

The Heat get stronger...a lot stronger-

Mike Miller signed his long-awaited five-year contract with the Heat on Thursday.

Miller, like Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem, accepted less money to play for the Heat.

Riley met with Miller in the very first moments after free agency opened at 12:01 a.m. eastern time on July 1, sitting down with him in a Beverly Hills hotel room.

Miller's deal is worth approximately $25 million.

No room at all for Chandler on our roster..

Anyways, in other news the Bulls continue to sign more former Jazz players-
Ronnie Brewer has signed with Chicago on a three-year, $12.5 million deal.

Brewer received a similar offer from the Celtics, but preferred the opportunity to possibly start for the Bulls.

Good move and value for the Bulls if he's healthy, but man, if I was coaching against them, I'd play nothing but a 2-3 zone and pack the paint, because they have no shooters outside of Korver.

    A few more tidbits-

Scola stays with Houston for a reasonable deal-
The Rockets have agreed to terms with Luis Scola on a five-year, $47 million contract.

Scola was a restricted free agent this summer and Houston was adamant that they would match any offer he received.

Nate Robinson is using hi ECF/Finals run to get another contract, sticking with Boston-

Nate Robinson will re-sign with the Celtics on a two-year, $9 million deal that includes bonuses.

Robinson was acquired by the Celtics at the trade deadline in a trade with the Knicks.

He played sparingly throughout the playoffs until the Eastern Conference Finals.

Finally, Orlando matched Chicago's offer on JJ Reddick-
The Orlando Magic have exercised its right of first refusal and retained restricted free agent guard J.J. Redick, General Manager Otis Smith announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed. Orlando had seven days to match an offer sheet made to Redick by Chicago on July 9. “J.J. (Redick) is a valuable part of our organization, both on the court and in our community,” said Smith. “He has worked extremely hard during his four seasons with us and improved every year. We’re happy that J.J. will be back to help us reach our ultimate goal.”

good move by Orlando. As far as lack of shooters goes, Rose claims he's going to come back next season as a 3-point threat as well, so we'll see how that goes.

Richard Jefferson to re-sign with the Spurs tomorrow via MySanAntonio-

Free agent forward Richard Jefferson is en route to San Antonio this afternoon, where he is set to sign a long-term contract with the Spurs on Wednesday.

Details of the new deal are not yet available, but his salary next season will be well below the $15.2 million he would have been guaranteed had he not opted out of the final season of his contract with the Spurs on June 30.

The 6-foot-7 small forward, who turned 30 on June 21, surprised many when he chose to opt out. His agent, Todd Eley, explained at the time that Jefferson preferred long-term security over the uncertainty of becoming a free agent next summer, when the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement is slated to expire.

We'll see how much he actually gets. I would have kept the 15.2 million then re-signed next summer than just get more years with less money, but again, we need to wait and see what the details of his contract are before saying 'Woulda, coulda, shoulda"

Shaq's  a Merc, everyone who's anyone knows The Diesel has seen way better days, he is now the oldest player in the league (i think) and is not looking at acquiring alot of cash wherever he signs. He is definitely on his way out and leave it to Boston to suck you dry.
But i would like to see him play with Boston because their first game is against MIAMI. SUPER STOKED for the LEBRON-menon
