The basic principle of the deal (financials to be worked out once the Trade Machine gets updated tomorrow)

    Portland Trades:
PG Andre Miller       ($7.269 million in 2011), Team Option for 2012
SG Rudy Fernandez  (1.246 million in 2001), Team Option for 2012
PF Jeff Pendergraph ($457 thousand in 2010)
C   Joel Przybilla       ($7.4 million in 2011), Expires after season
    2 Additional 1st round Picks

Portland Sends out roughly: $16.372 million

    Phoenix Trades:
PG Steve Nash         ($10.31 million in 2011), Expires after 2012 season
SG Leandro Barbosa ($7.1 million in 2011), Player Option for 2012

Phoenix Sends out roughly: $17.41 million

    Why for Portland?
It's obvious Paul Allen wants to win NOW! While Nash is 36, the numbers he is putting up blow away anyone else's at this age. He can play off of Roy by being able to shoot the lights out and would he could elevate LA to Amare status with the pick and roll. Barbosa could provide some scoring pop off the bench as well.

    Why for Phoenix?
Did you hear that? That was the sound of the Suns' window closely emphatically once Game 6 was over againsr LA. Amare is most likely going to bolt and Suns owner Robert Saver has been known to be a penny pincher. This deal won't save Phoenix a lot of money this upcoming season, but if they decline all of the player options, it saves them roughly 16 million the following year. Dragic is the heir apparent to Nash and is ready to take over. Rudy would flourish in Gentry's system and they get a local boy (Pendergraph) to bring some toughness to that squad.

    New Depth Chart:
    PG- Nash,Bayless,Mills,Johnson
    SG- Roy,Barbosa,Williams
    SF- Batum,Babbitt
    PF- Aldridge,Cunningham
    C-  Oden,Camby

That's 13 players and we'd still have the Mid Level Exception to use on a free agent.

It's not the most realistic trade idea, but I wanted to offer up something other than CP3 this or Chris Bosh that..what do you think?

Way too much to give up for an aging pg. We are NOT desperate .

How is that giving up too much?
Rudy is useless to us and wants out of Portland ASAP, Miller is only 2 years younger than Nash and not as good, Joel will probably never see the floor again the Blazers uniform and will be lucky to play at all in the NBA in 2011, and if we get Nash those 1st round picks will be in the high 20's. If anything, we don't give Phoenix enough. We need a trade to slim down the roster. Sometimes its not about quantity, but quality instead. Anytime you get the best player in the deal, you should make the move.

I'd be all for bringing in Steve Nash to Portland. Although his age is a concern, like Andre, he doesn't rely on athleticism to do what he does on the court. He's crafty, can shoot the lights out, and has eyes in the back of his head.

    Two things come to mind:
    1) Phoenix would probably want a little more than just straight salary relief for Nash. It would kill whatever fan base they had accumulated after the WCF run this past year.

    2) Our offensive philosophy of straight half-court ball would have to change. Nash flourishes in the open court and really I could see Aldridge, Batum, and yes, even Roy, taking their games to the next level as well by running at opportune times.

It's an interesting scenario. I like it. I hate to see Pendergraph in that mix, but you gotta' give something to get something. Suns are smart enough to know that he's a good deal right now.

I would agree LMA is a decent defender but his help defense and team defense needs a lot of work. It is in these areas that Bosh really separates himself from LMA and it is because of that he is a better player than LMA despite not putting the sam...

I was looking at some shooting stats and came across a very very alarming stat. LMA was the league leader in FGA from 16-23 feet. Not only was he the leader he was lead by a mile. His 7.3 attempts from this distance easily outpaced Demar Derozan w...

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.
