Does Danny Ferry make Portland a 7th sleeper pick for lebron-stakes?

Lebron is about the only 3 i could be cheery about parting Nic Batum for at the moment, but would it be worth trading Nic's potential, and assumably someone else's contract for sign and trade?

Is there enough in Portland to pull Lebron into talking with Paul Allen...besides Nike being down the street, and a great love for the city by vets past and present, or an all star to play next to along with a pool of big men (if healthy) to clog up the lane on defense and spread the floor on offense. Portland does have a good base of fans to make your ears bleed every time you get a chance to dominate kobe.

I would rather see the organization hire AND subsequently FIRE three more Kevin Pritchards, than hire ONE Danny Ferry.  Danny Ferry was a bust as an NBA player, and in my opinion, a BUST as a GM in Cleveland...basically, a loser - professionally speaking ofcourse.  Bringing him here would represent the introduction of cancer to an otherwise healthy body.  Resume?  Let's see it.

Besides, I was under the impression that he wanted out in Cleveland because ownership didn't want to give him exclusivity in the decision making with personnel.  You'd have to be from a third world country to think even for a moment, that he would have that here.  C'mon.  If he were interested, truly interested in this position, it would mean one of two things (both unacceptable)...1) he lied, and there were other reasons why he stepped out (quit) in Cleveland, or 2) money talks, and a huge paycheck would be enough for him to push his own belief system aside.  Is that who we want here?  How long would it be before instability again took hold of the front office in THAT scenario?

Randy Pfund would be my choice.

Hawes- Nearly 25 years of experience in the league, most recently as GM for the Miami Heat, serving 13 YEARS in that capacity.  Credited with helping turn that franchize around during his tenure, putting together a team that would later win a championship.  Also has served as an NBA exec., and both assistant coach and head coach.  Has alot of experience with free agency and trades, though too many names to list...our own Brian Grant among them.

not interested in LeBron's sudden ego. Ego doesn't play, here. This is a TEAM...not a backup band for a superstar. Sorry, King James. We'll take Chris Paul..

Pfund's name has been mentioned along with PHO aide David Griffin and Nets assistant GM Bobby Marks.
Ferry doesn't have a great GM track record. Personally, right now i'm about the players that suit up not the suits in the office.

I don't have feelings one way or another on Ferry, but just thought it was worth mentioning that it's very doubtful he gets you any closer to luring Lebron. If that was the case, why would Ferry have left Cleveland, or the better question, why would Cleveland have let Ferry leave? Lebron is going where Lebron wants to go, and no GM is going to change that.

Not a fan of Ferry, and if using Lebron is supposed to make us like him, it works the opposite for me....

I would hold my reservations on linking Ferry to many of the transactions that Cleveland has made. From what I hear, he was basically used as a mouth piece and all the decisions were being made by the owner. I also hear that this is why he resigned. To say that Portland is much better in that area, I'm not sure, the difference I see is that the owner of Cleveland will want to save money and acquire the equitable players, where as, Paul Allen is willing to lose the money in order to win a Championship. I don't think Ferry will accept the job because of how active ownership is in the decision making, but if he does he will find it is still a different type of situation than in Cleveland. I think he may be a better GM than he has been given credit for, but we will have to wait and see after his next job.

I'm skeptical of him because really outside of resigning LeBron to a 3 year deal and getting Mo Williams. Basically getting Shaq and Antwan gift wrapped, he's done close to nothing notable.

Why did Camby throw a punch at him ? I don't remember, but it seems out of character for Camby.
I assume it was when Ferry played ?
Hawes, can we get a clip ???

I guess it doesnt matter, it's in the past.  I'm  not a fan of Ferry,  if I had a choice it would be Petrie. He has history here.  But it's not up to me.
Can't help but wonder who is brave enough to step into KP's job after how Thursday went down. I personally would not want a job where I had to constantly look over my shoulder.

Even a week later, I still feel like Ashton Kutcher is going to jump out and tell Portland we were just punk'd !!

If the rumors do come true and Danny Ferry turns us down, I have a bad, bad feeling about all of this. Personally, I'd rather go after an up and comer like the guy from Phoenix.

I completely agree. Pierce would bring a culture change. And we as a team really needed someone to help our young players through the tough times. Jeffires and Pavlovic were veterans who didn''t see much court time and from what I saw didn''t real...

Joakim Noah has had his injury troubles. His crazy game and high energy make him a constant injury threat. What separates him from Oden and Rose (I had to just mention him) is his willingness to play the way he loves.
