the fans undeniably deserve the blazers management explanation on why fire KP. and the longer it happens, the bigger it casts doubt on the reasons behind this action. if it is for the betterment of the franchise, spell it out...man up and dont leave the fans hanging up in the air for answers!

I am not a fan of Paul Allen.  Most of that comes from the Whitsitt years followed by Paul complaining how the deal one of his companies made with the other was the worst stadium deal in the NBA.  With Pritchard as GM the team has turned around and is respectable.  I thought Paul was finally making good decisions or better yet just staying out of it.  Firing Pritchard seems like yet another bad decision.  I hope there is some master plan that is better than what lead us to the Whitsitt years...but I doubt it.

This is a very sad day for the Trailblazers!! KP was the reason things got good so fast! Yeah he drafted Oden over Durant but Oden isn't done yet and if we are going to make it to the Championship series Oden will make a larger impact in the long run. Webster was the PR player for the team and EVERYONE who met him liked him. Bad moves all around today. Is Paul Allen the one who needs replaced? Could be!!

Paul Allen is no business man, which is clear by how he's managed to trash all his other businesses (he can thank God he had Gates as a partner, because it seems clear, by himself, he would have driven Microsoft into the ground).  He's pulled the rug from underneath what had an opportunity to be a dynamic, championship headed franchise.  Pritchard pulled together a team full of talent that's had a string of bad luck.  The best move Allen did for the franchise was to make Pritchard GM.  The worst move was to relieve KP of his duties. I'd like to know where I can go to relieve Paul Allen of his duties.  The Blazers don't deserve an "F" grade, but it's owner sure does.

I WAS a Trailblazer fan.  Mark this day as the moment that we once again took the turn for the worse.  So much promise, so much class, so much respect in the league.  Now what?  I guess this is nothing more then a business, and we are all stupid enough to belive in the "Rise With Us" stuff.  Sure, rise with us until you pull the team out of Jailblazer depths and then we will fire you.  I wish that I could fire the ownership.  I for sure would love to get a refund of my season tickets.  Interesting we had to renew BEFORE they fired KP.  I guess we all fell for that one.  It is a sad, sad day.

KP has a lot of class - doing his very best for the team right up until the end.  Too bad I can't say the same for Paul Allen who demonstrated a complete lack of class in getting rid of the man who turned the team around!  Still, I'm a hard fan to get rid of and this year's team really won my heart with their grit - playing through such an incredible string of injuries!  The best move of the year?  MARCUS CAMBY!

What's left to say? Most of you have already stated what I've been thinking. I wouldn't be as upset with the firing if Allen manned up and gave us some answers about the firing. Firing Kevin Pritchard one hour before the draft started was just idiotic and showed lack of class. Poor Kevin. Obviously there's something we all don't know that happened between KP and Allen, I just want to know what it is. We all want to know. We all DESERVE to know.

Not only did KP bring the Blazers out of the Jail Blazers era, he saved the Rose Garden. He gave us fans a reason to go watch our beloved team again. He gave us a reason to spend our money to save the Rose Garden. I just don't get how we could go from having one of the best management's in the league at the end of the regular season, to one of the worst.. just like that. We lose Tom Penn, KP, Monty Williams along with other assistants.. I sure hope within the next few months before the season starts that we get some solid answers and bring in a big name to go with it. I will never stop loving the Trail Blazers but today is a sad day to be a Blazer.

Paul Allen has succeeded in microsoft, but as owner of the Blazers and Seahawks he is a failure. He needs to separate himself from the Vulcan Group. They are a cancerous tumor that will weaken and destroy any good that can be done.  The dismisal of Kevin Pritchard is a prime example of their "snooN ty destructivenes!" Nothing good will happen with them having power over decisions concerning the Trail Blazers. A purge is needed.

Paul Allen is truely clueless!!!  Why would you fix something that isn't broke??  Why would you get rid of the one thing that got you where you are??  Yes, Paul Allen is a founder of Microsoft but did you know that 23 out of 24 businesses he has started have failed?  Here is another one!  I feel horrible for KP!

KP, just know that the city of Portland loves you and loves what you have done for this city.  You are a class-act and you will be irreplaceable!

    SAD DAY!

WORST DAY IN BLAZERS HISTORY!!! I'm sad, angry, confused, sad, angry . . . .  did I say sad and angry? As everyone has said so far - why give up our own true strong asset?? Why get rid of something that was the source for us leaving behind our past troubles and bringing great guys to the team, rejuvenating the city and being such a a great story the last few years? Did I mention how even the national media said what a great story we were this year??? PA has no idea about basketball and the inner workings - yes, he is the "bank" but that's it - he hired/promoted KP for certain reasons and KP went beyond the call and kicked the other GM's butts.

Just when I thought that we had left behind that inner turmoil from the Whitsitt days - this happens - yes, as someone said above, we fans need an explanation and the longer it is, the more bitter we are going to be and I feel like it is just PA's ego and feeling that he dserved the credit - dude, this is a TEAM game; yes, KP made moves with your approval and yes, he is going to get credit for the moves, but really, it gives credit to the whole organization, even the people we don't see who work under KP - and I think it was clear from when we got Oden, how much they love and supported KP - it was so great - seeing the employees greeting GO and just there being a great atmosphere around the team despite the downs that the team has faced.
WORST DECISION EVER!! I still love our team, but if this causes the players to also feel like something isn't right, and I'm shocked that I am saying this - I might consider not bothering anymore - and I supported this team through the troubling Whitsitt years. I love our Blazers - I don't what went wrong behind the scenes, but now that PA has "broken" something that wasn't broken, he better come up with a more than satisfactory fix - we need an explanation Mr. Allen!!!!
I am a fan of Lillard, Batum, Lopez, LA and T Rob taking it to other teams!

I really don't understand why everyone is piling on when we have NO IDEA what it was that got KP fired for.  If it was simple politics because Pritchard tried to position himself to ask for a better job, and Paul Allen felt betrayed, then yes, I think Vulcan and Allen deserve all the criticism.

But, if it was something else, something deeper that KP and Tom Penn actually did wrong, then perhaps:

    1. We'll never get to know what it was.

    and

    2.  His firing was completely deserved and called for, and they only kept him around till the draft to not destroy everything he's worked for.

I simply can't bring myself to believe that he was fired over simple politics; I certainly don't believe he was fired over performance.

So, I have to believe there was something more.  And I'm not going to jump off the wagon, but it's been nice having you other bandwagon fans on board the last 3-4 years.  At least the Rose Garden was full again.

The Blazers under Paul Allen will NEVER EVER win an NBA championship. The best thing he could do for Rip City is sell the team to someone that knows what he's doing. I urge all blazer fans to boycott the companies (Suite holders) that support this nut by letting them know why you will no longer support them. I personally today have sold my tickets and will NOT ever step into the RQ or the upcoming "jump City" again.

Not only has KP been disrespected but WE the Fans of RIP CITY have as well!!!

GM's are in the business of hiring and firing and treating players as dispensable assets, but when it happens to management you all wanna act like it is heresy. This isn't the end of KP, it's the end of his current tenure with the blazers, but he will have other jobs. And mark my words, before long the nation will be able to enjoy KP as a national analyst for TNT or ESPN. He's well liked around the league, and if he doesn't end up on a major market team, I hope to see him alongside Charles and Kenny soon.

I agree with you, Blazer003!  I think there just HAS to be something deeper than what we as fans are privy to.  What makes everybody think that they know ALL that has happened behind closed doors??   Bottom line though, I am not a fan because of the behind the scene stuff... I am a FAN of the BLAZER players out on the floor and the GAME!  Its hard to believe that people are jumping ship cause of decisions made that we dont know all the facts about.  I am still a Blazer fan and am interested in the upcoming free agency/sign and trades.  More importantly, Im excited about next season!!!

    GO BLAZERS!

First off, for anyone who like me watched every game even when we couldnt win 30 games, this team has to make you feel good. And most of the team was put together by KP, this man knew what he was doing, loved his job and the team. I think KP should get a round of applause for the way he handled himself during this, but the way he was fired still is pissing me off. You get fired and then still do the draft? I would have told someone to stick it, but he did because KP is a stand up guy. I worry now though that heading into free agency with out him or a general manager with experiance and excitement about this team that we might miss out. I would have handled it by bringing someone in for this season, let KP groom them and then at the end of the year, part ways, but thats me. Its a sad day and i wish KP the best.

We don't know if there is a replacement already in line to take his spot, but i'm reserving my rabble rabble until july 1st, if there's no GM by then I'll join in. I liked KP, To play Devil's advocate against the common consensus right now, they handled KP in a smart way if they looked at the blazers in a total business sense (forgoing fan bias) and got rid after using his services for what he and his crew are best at. Obviously he was fired after the end of last season's dissappointing end, when Allen's company started openly searching out GM's, but Allen and company knew it dumb to fire KP a month before his time he usually shines on draft-day. From a business aspect I can't hate on Allen's decision whole-heartedly (assuming a well groomed replacement is already in line) yet.

Either way, KP went out with flying colors fighting till the end, and ended with a conservatively strong showing in this years draft. Good luck KP.

I remember these days.. The point guard of the future Sebastian Telfair... Lol. Darius Miles, Ruben Patterson, etc... Man just typing those names gives me chills. I'm only 23 years old and I can still remember the Drexler and Kersey days. Man, those were great teams. Damn Jordan ruined that era for us. That team should have won one of two championships. Duckworth, Uncle Cliffy, Ainge, Porter, Buck Williams. Anyone remember those Dairy Queen cups they used to give out that had the Blazer players on them? I still have like almost everyone one!

Gotta say I'm very disappointed by this firing..  KP is the man.  He's led us back and deserves credit.  Unless he did something very wrong, I don't think he deserved it at all.  I'm anxious to see who they replace him with long-term, but for now, I'm a disapproving fan who has lost a little hope.   P.S. Down with greedy Vulcan, they'd have our team lose all 82 if it made them more money.

i have those all of those same glasses, and im only 25. speaking of miles, saw he was trying to make a comeback. we could have taken the money we gave him and set it on fire or put it all on double zero at the table, probably would have turned out better.
