Elliot Williams: 6-3, 175 lbs, PG, University of Nevada

Strengths: Point guard with excellent size (6'3) and strength to handle the NBA PG position ... Very quick and athletic player which when combined with his size makes him intriguing ... A lefty with excellent one on one skills and the ability to create baskets off the dribble ... Has a pretty lefty pull up off the dribble ... Gets excellent lift on his shot and has a fluid release ...  First step is extremely fast making him a tough player to stay in front of ... CONTINUE READING>>>

Weaknesses: His point guard skills are good but not great ... Still must become a better passer and learn to control the tempo and set up teammates in the half court. He is much more adept at creating offense for himself ... Gets a little out of control in transition so will need to work on his decision making there ... CONTINUE READING>>>

He is not a point guard. He is a 2 guard. That is why his skills as a point guard are weak. Nevada needed a point guard and he got elected. Portland continues to draft 2 guards thinking they can turn them into point guards. The point is the most sophisticated position on a basketball team.  It takes many years to hone that position into one that can compete in the NBA.  Good luck on your tutelage.

Went with a C, mainly because I haven't seen him play and it really wasn't a position of need. Although, he could have been best player available and that is always the philosophy to take. Other 2nd round players I would have liked to take:

Hassan Whiteside (#33)- Taken 1 pick before us. I would have gave them #34 and a future 2nd round pick for his rights
Solomon Alabi (#50)- Who cares if he may bust. Taking a gamble on a 7-1 center in the 2nd round would have been worthwhile, esp with our center position depleted these past few years.

There were other good players such as Ebanks, Butler, and White, but our other 1st round picks were of that same position and a guy who skyrocketed, Trevor Booker, went in round 1 who would have been a nice fit and pushed Dante for backup 4 minutes.

I would be happy with Porter or Oladipo

I would rather have Oladipo/Porter over Wes any day of the week.

joint option for year three at like 8 million. Then if he works out you got him for a bargain for 2-3 years and if not it costs only 1.2 million for next year.

Barnes would not fit in Portland. His attitude is completely wrong. Sanders has anger problems, but is not an bad guy. Barnes is dirty. Tony Allen already has an excellent core in Memphis. Z-Bo, Gasol, and Conley. He has finally found a team which...

Rookies are fine a team should be able to carry 5 of them easily. The problem with us last year was we had no depth in front of the rookies. Lillard and Leonard as lottery picks should have gotten lots of playing time, which they did. However, Bar...
