Elliot Williams: 6-4, 175 lbs, SG, University of Memphis

Strengths: Versatile southpaw guard with very good athleticism ... At 6'4 with long arms, has the size and length to play either guard position ... Displays a powerful burst to the basket with his natural lefty dribble ... Has a quick first step and long, easy strides ... Thrives in the open court where he can utilize his speed and attack in space ... Finishes extremely well in traffic, able to contort his body and get shots off at odd angles ... CONTINUE READING>>>

Weaknesses: Despite a good looking jumper, is not comfortable with his shot yet ... Shot 25% from three and 50% from the stripe as a frosh ... Not a catch-and-shoot guy, preferring to walk into his shot with a few habit dribbles ... Shoots a layup or three pointer with very little in between - has not put his midrange game to much use ... Williams was rated as the 2nd best 1st round sleeper by NBADraft.Net
Rated as the 2nd best shooting guard prospect behind Evan Turner according to DX

Some more information about his game from DX-

Elliot Williams does a number of things exceptionally well, and has the potential to be an efficient scorer if he improves some of his scoring tools.

Ranking right around average in terms of usage at 17.4 possessions per-game and slightly above average at 0.961 PPP overall, Williams’ best asset in comparison to his peers is his ability to use his quickness to get to the line. He was fouled on an impressive 14.2% of his overall shots, leading our sample of prospects by more than 3%.

Despite ranking right around average in terms of half court field goal percentage (42.2%), Williams scores on a higher percentage (45.4%) of his non-fast break possessions than any other player. Clearly, his first step plays a major role in his ability to create contact at the rim. His role for Memphis certainly helped as well.

Although he spent nearly twice as many of his possessions playing off the ball in spot up situations than Evan Turner (17.2% vs. 9.5%), Williams got some 43% of his offense operating one-on-one or working off a pick. A capable jump shooter when left open (42.9%), but limited when defended (27.3%), the Duke transfer has the resume of a guard capable of sliding over to handle the ball next to a shooting point guard or remaining off the ball and slashing to the rim.

Williams only shot 1.9 pull up jumpers per-game last season, preferring to drive all the way to the rim where he shot an average 51.3%. Given his lack of physical strength, Williams will need to continue to hone his shooting ability in the mid-range area to become a more complete offensive threat at the shooting guard position.

The more I watch him and read up about him, I like. I think he's going to being the Jerryd Bayless type of aggressiveness to the team. A player who'll attack the hoop at will. From the report, he is comfortable playing off the ball, which is a must on this team.

Great athletic potential. One of the top athletes in the draft and has a future on the defensive end. WE traded away Marty's defensive prowess, but Elliot could get to that level soon. I also like what I hear in the scouting reports that he loves taking it to the basket, which means he can actually dribble and doesn't settle for jump shots. That was a huge need this offseason, getting players who go hard to the hoop. He has enormous upside and will get a chance to learn from Dre, Bayless, and Roy.

Now that I saw him, I remember.  He's Bayless with a wing span.  He is alreasdy missing games from banging a knee, he was meant to be a Blazer.  I look forward to seeing him both minutes Nate plays him.  ;)

Love the pick. However, I don't know if he can contribute immediately...much like Jerryd Bayless his first year, but unlike Bayless I do believe he will get time his rookie season by how our team looks like RIGHT now.

In college, he was extremely explosive and had some pretty stifling defense. I don't know how well he fits into our offensive system that runs at a slower pace than what he is used to.

He's a shooting guard so it would be more like
    Webster/Roy/Rudy

I'd love it if he followed that track record :D

Proven at college and international level. I'd go with untried at NBA level.

Bayless with a longer wing span, and it appears the jury is still out on Bayless with the Blazers.  But how will he play with Roy is the important question ??

Elliot Williams is as much of a point guard as Dante Cunningham is a small forward. He may be able to play some point in dire situations, but he is going to be a straight 2 guard. I really wish I could see him play in Summer League, because of all of our new rookies, he has the least amount of video on the web of them all.

Yeah It would be a good deal for them but who Olshey isnt reading this haha. If we can do this trade to start our off season we would be in great shape.

Noel was playing at around 220 so I doubt the added weight will slow him down too much the guy just needs to continue his rehab and hit the weight room and he will be fine.

As long as he stops pulling the ball down in the post I will be happy nothing more annoying than watching that happen several times a game
