The first few picks of the 2nd round are some of the best values. The contracts are NOT guaranteed and in such a deep draft, someone is going to slip and we'll be right there to nab them up. Last year it was Blair who slipped and now the Spurs are reaping those rewards.

In my personal opinion, we worked out somebody, fell in love with that player, and figured he'd be an early 2nd round guy and made the move to grab him. Early guesses include Craig Brackins, the PF from Iowa St, and Jerome Randle, point guard and PAC-10 Player of the Year from California.

Or, there is the possibility someone like Larry Sanders or Dominique Jones slips to #34 and you don't hesitate twice to pick them up, due to the insane nature of the value.

I personally believe it is all about increasing the value of their playing hand. Atleast I hope that's the case. This is by no means an earth shattering, job saving, transaction. It's too early. The Blazers aren't showing their playbook until draft day.

    Draft Express Twitter-
Portland moves up to #34 in exchange for cash. My guess is they're going after either Gani Lawal or Trevor Booker at that spot.

It's very nice having one of the richest owners on your side! 10 spots in this deep of a draft is a huge win for the Blazers. The talent kind of drops off around pick 40, so to move up in the thick of things int he 2nd round is awesome. I think we end up trading the #22 + a player for a higher pick and just keeping #34 as well. Too much value is in the 1st few picks of the 2nd round. I mean, Kevin Seraphin could drop to round 2 because of his knee and with a 2nd round pick to use on him, his contract won't be guaranteed.

I'd like to think that Terrico White from Ole Miss or Dominique Jones from South Florida are the targets are we interested in!

Folks, as someone who has played the sport for 20 years, I can tell you this. The blazers are a better team then the playoffs showed. We need to stop being so jumpy to make  move in this draft.  I don't see any player that screams out to me that we cannot live without.  The best results on our roster have come from trades and free agency. I mean van clavor is still in europe, we just don't have the need. Granted freakish things happen with injuries such as this past season but the reality of it is we have a very solid roster from top to bottom. Rudy, buddy, we were all pullin for ya including me, who wouldn't want to have an olympic silver medalist on your team? Unfortunatly for rudy, the pro game in the states is very different. I say trade rudy away and get what you can for him.   We gotta get back to basics this year folks.  I think Marcus Canby provides some terrific leadership and presence on the floor. Bayless has arrived and the playoffs proved that, I belive he has MORE then earned his spot. L.A. come playoff time when the team leans on you, you gotta be able to handle the pressure.  We    HAVE to find that mental toughness that we lacked during the playoffs. Getting to the playoffs alone is no longer considered a success. We have to make it count when we get there. There is no such thing as an easy play off team in the western conference, we're going to have to accept that. Batum, it's gut check time pal. You need to toughen up, and toughen up now! Living on the perimiter isn't gonna cut it. It shows the opposition that your afraid of them. We've got no room for fear here folks.  There is NO team in this league that you are not capable of beating.  Get tough over the summer guys, and watch those injuries!

While there may not be a player at #34 who ends up being a Hall of Famer, let alone an All-Star, we can find someone who can fit the puzzle.

Not two months. It wasn''t a major injury, X rays came back positive. I know he played because we had no one who could replace him, and that was admirable, but it simply does not take that long. When he had a good game, he said my wrist felt good....

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...

I think what Stotts is doing is superb. His plays are great. I remember the only play he ever called for Meyers Leonard, against the Bobcats. Great movement, got LMA a good mid range look, got Batum a decent three look and the got Meyers way down ...
