    According to this report-
The Hornets are back in luxury tax territory heading into the 2010-11 season and Marc Stein of ESPN.com writes that they will likely be active on the trade market.

Rival teams will try to convince New Orleans to trade Chris Paul, but it's much more likely that they'll part with promising backup point guard Darren Collison.

Stein writes that the Hornets will likely ask any team interested in Collison to also take one of their cap-clogging contracts -- Emeka Okafor, James Posey or Peja Stojakovic.
Collison put up some phenomenal stats when Paul went down, but he didn't really help them win. Personally, I have to even wonder what his price tag is. I'm not sure he's the best fit for our team. What do you think?

I've been saying all along.  Do what it takes to get Chris Paul here.  The Hornets as you've reported, are in financial trouble.  I was under the impression that Collison was there "PG of the future", and that Paul wanted out.  Surely Chris Paul, with all of his desire to win, understands the prospects of that in New Orleans, even under Monty, will not be good for quite some time...likely after his prime.  He will not win a ring there.  They are in need of bigs, something we seem to have alot of.  Expiring contracts are also something attactive to the Hornets now...and we have that.  We do not have a PG who will be playing at a championship level in three years.  Much was made of the stagnant offense last season.  Still stagnant will Paul?  Off the court, Paul more than fits our culture here.  Get it done.

For PDX to trade for CP3, I guarantee they would demand either Roy or Oden, would you pull the trigger on either of those guys for the best point guard in the league?

Point taken.  However, I don't think the Hornets are going to be competitive in the near future.  Getting expiring contracts in exchange for a player that they will get NOTHING for if they wait another year wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.  Their window is much different than the Blazer window, agree?  I think the two teams could potentially help each other out.  Don't think I would give up on either BadKneeBlazers just yet.  Obviously with Oden though, it's now or never.  If we wait and he goes down again...that's it, NO VALUE.  If we wait and he DOESN'T go down again, the Lakers will be handing over their Western Conference dominance and stepping aside.  GO is a huge crapshoot right now. Dominant big men are few and far between in this league.  Greg would have been an all-star this year without the injury...who the heck is Chris Caiman?:)  Bottom line I guess, I wouldn't deal either for Paul.

Cap clogging for sure... safe to say if they deal Collison, Peja is going with.

    2010-2011 Salaries:
    Peja Stojakovic: $14,256,000
    Emeka Okafor: $11,540,375
    James Posey: $6,478,000

    Chris Paul: $14,940,153

I think Peja is expiring so although he makes more than he should, there's no point in trading him because you have to take that salary back, unless they deal him for someone who has a ton of cap room. But I doubt, a team with MAX money in cap space will spend it on Peja just to get Collison.

I would trade Greg for Paul but not Roy (too much of a lateral move and Roy is already the face of the franchise, not worth it)

As much as I love G.O. and think he can still be a beast, there is still a great chance he will never be able to play for long periods of time. What did we hope for when we drafted Greg? A Hall of Fame player? Yes. Well, if you have a chance to trade for a 26 yo future Hall of Famer, you do it and you don't look back.

What was the best thing that came from picking Sam Bowie? Trading him to NJ for Buck Williams who nearly put us over the top. It was 100% the right call as we didn't hold out any more hope for Bowie and decided to move forward. I'm not saying Portland should cut ties with Greg and actively put him out on the trading blocks, but hypothetically, if we were in talks for CP3 and they wanted ODen for him, I'd do it.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
