According to this article, he plans to break the news to his players

Sources close to WFNY have informed us that Tom Izzo has told his players at Michigan State that he plans on taking the Cavaliers job.  Our sources have heard directly from players on the MSU team that Izzo informed them this week that he is planning on making the move up to the NBA level under the ownership of MSU grad Dan Gilbert.  We have also heard from a separate source that Izzo is holding off on announcing this until the end of the week, when his kids finish up school in the Lansing area.  While Izzo could always change his mind, we are comfortable reporting that he has in fact informed his players at Michigan State that he will be taking the Cavaliers job.
Color me surprised. I didn't think anything would move Izzo away from Michigan State. I'm not a huge fan of bringing over college coaches to the NBA ranks, because, outside of Larry Brown, they all flop. Does this make James more or less likely to re-up in Cleveland?

If true, a little piece inside of me has died. Michigan State is one of my favorite college basketball programs and its in large part due to Tom Izzo. I really hope he ends up staying because he means more to MSU than to the Cavs. Also, as mentioned, college coaches + NBA = recipe for disaster. Don't tarnish the legacy Tom!

Michigan State's player believe he will leave-

On Tuesday night, Tom Izzo called a meeting to let his players know that he had, in fact, been offered the head coaching job in Cleveland.

Though he did not notify them of any decision, Michigan State players left that meeting believing that Izzo was going to leave to accept the Cavs' position.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Izzo still had not made a final decision.

I'm a big fan of Izzo and hes a great college coach and really build up that MSU program I'd hate to see him give that all up for a run in the NBA.  It can be done, but very few have pulled it off. If it makes him happy go for it.

Izzo Turns Down Cavs, Staying At MSU-
Tom Izzo has turned down an offer from the Cleveland Cavaliers to become their new head coach and will remain at Michigan State University.

Izzo reportedly tried to reach LeBron James to get a sense of where he stands on his upcoming free agency but James was unwilling to become involved in the process with Izzo.

"There was a lot of information to gather and consider and some of it wasn't easily obtainable," Izzo said in a statement.

The Cavaliers had an offer on the table that would have doubled Izzo's yearly salary to approximately $6 million.

Glad to here. His heart and legacy is at Michigan State and that's where he'll hopefully retire

The problem with JJ remains the same at the 4 or 5 he is just not a good enough defender. Milsap and especially Smith are good defenders. The also both offer more on the offensive side than JJ does.

Exactamundo. Seriously though, both of you''ll are right. The blame should be placed on the attacker, not Lillard. That being said, Dame should have stepped in.

Sanders is 6''11" Cailin he is about 5 pounds lighter than LA so his size should not be an issue.

I completely agree. Pierce would bring a culture change. And we as a team really needed someone to help our young players through the tough times. Jeffires and Pavlovic were veterans who didn''t see much court time and from what I saw didn''t real...

Joakim Noah has had his injury troubles. His crazy game and high energy make him a constant injury threat. What separates him from Oden and Rose (I had to just mention him) is his willingness to play the way he loves.
