Sources- Williams To Become Hornets Coach:

After pulling an offer to Tom Thibodeau, the New Orleans Hornets and Portland Trail Blazers assistant Monty Williams have agreed to the framework of a three-year contract for him to become the team’s head coach, a source briefed on the talks told Yahoo! Sports.

Hornets GM Jeff Bower abandoned his courtship of Thibodeau, a Boston Celtics assistant, on Friday afternoon, and entered into discussions with Williams to take the job. The source says the three years of the contract are guaranteed and the team will hold a fourth-year option.

Hornets star Chris Paul was a strong advocate for Williams’ hire, and sources say he was hoping Bower would turn to the Blazers’ respected assistant.

Thibodeau was the Hornets’ top candidate for the job, but had always preferred to fill the Chicago Bulls’ vacancy. He met with Bulls officials in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, and is now waiting on an offer from the team. The New Jersey Nets also have spoken with Thibodeau, but aren’t expected to hire a coach until after the NBA Finals.

    From Twitter-
WojYahooNBA To be correct: The Hornets coaching agreement with Monty Williams is three guaranteed years, with a team option for fourth, source says.
Best of luck Monty! Although, I don't think you'll enjoy the Hornets as much as you did the Trail Blazers. Their fans can't hold a candle to ours :D !

Congrats to Monty! Hate to see him leave but it was bound to happen sooner or later. I think the Hornets job will be very challenging but its a good opportunity for him. Our fans will give him a warm welcome when he returns next season.

Agree, Congrats Monty! I don't think NO is the most stable of situations to go to though.

A thought just occurred to me. Travis Outlaw should  sign with the New Orleans Hornets. He is very close with Coach Monty and the Hornets desperately need a scorer from the small forward. Not to mention, its in the South, close enough to his home in Starkville, MS and he'd have the green light to shoot at will and coming off of an injury, good become a great bargain as well!

Yea, I hadn't thought of that. It's an ideal situation for Travis. He can be a starter, which he has always wanted, because there's no way Posey, Wright, or Peja stand in his way, he'd be playing with the best point guard in the league which would give him a plethora of open jump shots, and he'd probably be able to shoot at will. Also, the Hornets are a penny pinching franchise, so if they could get a steal this summer, he would be their guy.

I agree Hawes, as much as I miss Travis, him being close to home makes me feel better.
I really like Jay Allen, but yesterday morning on 95.5, he really pissed me off with his comments about Travis riding the short bus, and wearing a helmet, when they discussed this.
Not good karma to put out there Jay, and it was NOT funny.
Travis is one of the nicest people you could ever meet !!!

That is one of the reasons why I DON'T listen to 95.5's local shows. They are pretty over the top and just overall mean. Travis isn't dumb because he talks a little slower, that's just country..two completely different things. What really was the breaking point for me stop listening to them was CIP when he was being very inhumane and not compassionate to a fellow co-worker who spent quite a bit of money on surgery for their dog and he got a ton of negative feedback for it but was hardly suspended. Say what you what about The Fan guys, but at least they keep it clean.

The problem with JJ remains the same at the 4 or 5 he is just not a good enough defender. Milsap and especially Smith are good defenders. The also both offer more on the offensive side than JJ does.

Exactamundo. Seriously though, both of you''ll are right. The blame should be placed on the attacker, not Lillard. That being said, Dame should have stepped in.

I completely agree. Pierce would bring a culture change. And we as a team really needed someone to help our young players through the tough times. Jeffires and Pavlovic were veterans who didn''t see much court time and from what I saw didn''t real...

Joakim Noah has had his injury troubles. His crazy game and high energy make him a constant injury threat. What separates him from Oden and Rose (I had to just mention him) is his willingness to play the way he loves.
