*RUMOR* Trail Blazers Adding A Lead Assistant?

    Rumors out of 95.5 The Game are speculating that Portland is going to hire Bernie Bickerstaff as a lead assistant and it has nothing to do with Monty Williams. Meaning, if Monty ends up staying, Bernie would come regardless. Apparently he is going to be an "offensive coordinator" to Nate's coach. Think of Tex Winter being the X's and O's guy for Phil Jackson. That is what this type of lead assistant would do. Leaving the motivational/leadership duties up to Nate. This would make some sense considering when Nate took the job back in 2005, his offensive coach back in Seattle, Dwayne Casey, left for the vacant T'Wolves job at the time.

    Coach McMillan is denying the rumors of the hiring of Bernie Bickerstaff. Only time will tell.

    Although this story has been quiet, with Monty gone and maybe taking some assistants and now it is being rumored that Joe Prunty could be headed to the Nets with Avery Johnson-
     ArtGarcia_NBA: Possibles for Avery Johnson's staff in New Jersey include Blazers asst Joe Prunty & Mavs asst Popeye Jones.
    I bet the Blazers will hire a pretty big named assistant coach sometime this summer with all the shakeups happening on the coaching staff.
