    Jeff Pendergraph
    Position: F
    Height/Weight: 6-9/240
    NBA experience: 1 season
    2009-10 salary: $457,588
Contract status: Jeff Pendergraph was acquired by the Trail Blazers from the Sacramento Kings for Sergio Rodriguez, the draft rights to Jon Brockman (38th pick overall) and cash considerations on June 25, 2009. Pendergraph, who was originally selected by the Sacramento Kings with the first pick of the second round (31st pick overall) in the 2009 NBA Draft, is under contract through 2010-11 with the Blazers.

2009-10: Pendergraph finished his rookie season with averages of 2.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 10.4 minutes in 39 games (four starts) ... Shot a team-high 66.2 percent (43-65) from the field ... Grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds Dec. 30 vs. L.A. Clippers ... Posted 11 points (4-for-5 FG) Dec. 28 vs. Philadelphia ... Scored two points in four minutes in his NBA debut Dec. 22 at Dallas ... Led Portland's 2009 NBA Summer League entry in rebounding (7.6) and blocked shots (1.2) to go with 10.8 points in five games (all starts) ... Underwent surgery to correct left hip impingement on Sept. 9, 2009.

Jeff Pendergraph is a little quirky, very unique, extremely likable, genuinely funny and all heart. After participating in last year's NBA Draft workout alongside college standouts Tyler Hansbrough and Darren Collison, Pendergraph left an impression on the Blazers' staff with his hustle, grit and intelligence.

After returning from hip surgery, Pendergraph quickly endeared himself to his Portland teammates, becoming the hype man in the middle, firing up his teammates before the opening tip.

Pendergraph assured himself a second season with the Blazers by appearing in at least 10 games this season. His most memorable performance of the year came in the season finale, when Pendergraph posted a career-high 23 points (on repeated thunderous dunks) in a 122-116 loss to Golden State.

A 240-pound ball of energy, Pendergraph not only describes himself as "always turned up" but makes sure to point out: "I don't back down from nobody."

Does JP have a future role with the Trail Blazers? He looked good in the action he got, including his 14 rebound performance against the Clippers, but as often with most rookies, he got lost on defense quite a bit and didn't really get much meaningful playing time, so it's hard to evaluate his season. I was impressed with his mid-range jump shot though, something I wasn't aware he possessed in his game. I think it boils down to Jeff finding a position in the league, either at power forward or center. We already know he's a great personality, very charismatic, and gets the team fired up. I think we will get to know a lot more about Pendergraph during Summer League and see the strides he made to his game.

Stay, at least for one more season to see what we have got. I wouldn't be opposed to trading him if some other team was dying to acquire him, but with Juwan taking a lesser role next year, we should see what JP's got before we move on so quickly.

Undecided again, depends on Joels progress.  He needs a new nickname if he stays.

Hmm, don't think that is his nickname. Mike and Mike tried to dub him that for one game, but Jeff found out and wasn't really feeling it. I think he goes by "Lil' Bit" because according to Tone, he's a lil bit crazy, goofy, funny, etc

Do you think his position in the NBA is PF or C Tobyus?

That lable is insignificant, he is a POST player. To run the half court set as much as the Blazers do, it's nice to incorporate 2 post positons, not 1 and a half, or just 1 post guy. It's a rebounding thang. Jeff can play either, if you want me to be more specific.

I think all positions are significant in the NBA. Personally, I think 6-9 is too short to be a center and think of JP more as a power forward. He matches up physically, both in height and weight, better with the 4's of the league than the 5's.

I would take JP over Joel this is a defiant keeper. With Joels career being next to over we need a new tough guy. and I can see that in JP. KEEP!

I think it may come down to Dante vs. Jeff for playing time next year and my money is on Dante. He's a better shooter, rebounder, and defender. If Jeff were only 6-11....

Pendergraph is a more physically abusive player then Dante. He's a perfect guy to use if you want to inflict damage to the opponents inside guys, while going after rebounds n' stuff. We got plenty of tall skinny guys, but take look at the teams that are fighting for the championship this season.
    Orlando - Superman = ouch
Phoenix - Stoudamire = we all saw what he did
Fakers - Artest, Bynum, Odom = Thats a lotta burgers
Celtics - Big baby, Perkins, Sheed, and Garnett's pointy elbows
All the teams have some serious ground and pound. We obviously can't just rely on Oden to do all the heavy lifting yet. Camby can board and block shots, but you won't see him leveling a guy with a good, hard screen. If you want to win it all this league, it's cearly obvious you gotta play a little rough. That's where Pendergraph's game can be most effective.

Juwan's career is winding down and marcus is in probably the final two years of his career, so i think there is very much a future for Jeff. he was aggressive and fought hard in the limited time he got on the floor. had we not been banged up as a team, we may not have found out how much potential he has. he's definitely worth keeping around.

I would probably guess the league is hot for Dante right now, over JP. Dante has that all around game and gives good production for his minutes be it long or short. JP just needs more playing time. He puts the "power" in power forward for this team.
