    What is the biggest need?
    Bench Scorer (3)
     21%
    3-Point Specialist (9)
     64%
    Bruising Backup 4 (2)
     14%
    Nothing (0)

Now that we have seen Portland go one and done in the playoffs for the second straight season, some team needs still need to be addressed. The biggest difference between this year and last has to do with the plethora of veteran leadership provided by Andre Miller, Marcus Camby, and Juwan Howard, which allowed Portland to withstand the array of injuries as best as possible by winning 50 games again, and reaching the playoffs in the hotly contested Western Conference. Out of necessity, the trade which brought in Marcus Camby turned a couple of strengths into liabilities at times down the stretch of the 2010 season. Blake and Outlaw provided a solid, sturdy second unit for the Trail Blazers, as well as long-range accuracy, but those strong suits of the team had to be left by the wayside as Portland had bigger holes to fill, such as providing Aldridge and Howard with some help up front. No one questioned the trade for Camby then, nor do they now, but the voids left by Blake's steadiness and Outlaw's gunner mentality still have yet to be filled.

Here are a list of needs Pritchard and Co. can target this summer to help take Portland to the next step. >>>Continue
Personally, I think we could add either another bench scorer who can come in right away and light it up and it would be killer if said scorer was a marksman from 3 point range. Also, I would love to see us get a little meaner/tougher in the post in the form of a backup power forward.
There are a couple of options in the draft such as Avery Bradley, Patrick Patterson, Ekpe Udoh, James Anderson, but we also have our $5.8 million mid level exception to use.

Here's a list of potential Restricted and Unrestricted Free Agents for the upcoming summer: List Of Free Agents
Who stands out as someone who would fill a need and help us take the next step in advancing in the playoffs?

After taking a look at the Free Agent list, these players jumped out at me who I think would be attainable for the MLE and fit our team: Kyle Korver Roger Mason Jr Anthony Morrow (RFA) Mike Miller Rasual Butler Ray Allen Not too many good, menacing big men on the open market. We'd have to either draft one or deal. Either way, a lot of good shooters on the market though.

Definitely a 3 point shooter. No Blake or Outlaw means we lost a ton of our 3 pt shooting ability. I doubt Rudy returns plus he's too streaky for my liking. Korver is the guy I want most, but I'm not sure if he's going to leave Utah or not. A bench unit of Bayless, Webster, Korver, Cunningham, Camby is tops in the league.

I vote none of the above.... Jerryd brings scoring off the bench. Martell is supposed to be a 3 pt shooter off the bench,  the need for a back up 4 was taken are of this season. With everyone healthy, youre adding Joel and Greg next season to Marcus ( who can play the 4) and LA.  Dante and Jeff are also bangers. I like Howard, but his age shows, and I don't think he comes back, unless it's as a coach. Jeff and Dante need minutes. My choice for improvement is defense.   As far as the free agent list, I want to see an updated one. That one has Blake in Portland and Bell in Charlotte still.  Those are the 2 players I want to add to the roster next season, in place of Mills and junior,  they would cover bench, 3 point scoring, and are good defenders.

Is ANYBODY paying attention?!  Just wondering.  The expectation(s) of this team now, and in the immediate future are, to not only MAKE the playoffs, but to win division, conference and eventually...the championship.  NONE of the above will EVER be accomplished without post presence at BOTH ends.  Yes, I am fully aware that Greg is coming back.  Someone once said, "those who do not learn from the past are destined to repeat it."  I feel that way too much pressure was put on GO from the time we drafted him.  Was this pressure the cause of his injury?  No.  A contributor...possibly, but indirectly.  Those of you out there that answer this post need with Oden and Oden alone need to check yourselves.  Seriously.  The guy can barely walk and who knows about his future health, not to mention that ONE guy isn't enough in the post...in the event that he DOES stay healthy and become the beast that I think he will be.  To win and go deep in the playoffs takes post play, pure and simple.  This isn't rocket science guys.  If the Clyde teams had had a dominant post player, we would be chasing the 3rd or 4th title in Portland right now, not the second.  Why?  Because we had Buck at the 4, a legitimate scoring threat in the paint.  I am standing by my theory that we need to go out and get a STARTING 4 to compliment Greg, sliding LA to the 3.  Field goal percentage AND defense wins championships.  LA is the shooter you are looking for and his skill set is that of a 3.  He shot almost 50% from the field this season and we all know where the majority of those shots came from.  We need a Boozer type player in the starting lineup.  With that kind of length, athleticism, and added toughness and strength, this team would be scary.  Batum would be first off the bench and spell both Brandon and possibly even LA.  His minutes would be there because of his versatility.  Adding him to the second unit takes care of the bolstering there that we all know the team needs.  If LA doesn't move to the 3, look for alot more disappointment and failure in the playoffs and eventually a trade sending him out of town...too late.  By then, BRoy's knees will be shot.  Either move him now or slide him to the 3.  He is NOT nor ever will be a POWER player...rebounding and defending, dunking and shooting layups.  He is a finess player and jumpshooter with great hands and can run the break...A THREE!  Look to the Lakers for a perfect example.  With what I call "Thunder (Bynum) and Lightning (Gasol)", two 7 footers on the floor TOGETHER, their offense NEVER sputters for long.  Both players are very adept at scoring inside, and both in very different ways.  How nice it must be to have not only one, but TWO inside options for the high percentage score.  The Lakers for this reason, forgetting about Kobe, have a HUGE advantage every time the purple and gold take the floor.  It's percentages, pure and simple.  Defensively, it would be nice to have some more interior presence than just Greg...with only 6 fouls too.  Just a thought.  The Lakers for this reason, without unforseen injury or suspensions, will win it all.  In short, my vote goes to a starting power 4, which was none of the options listed.

New uniforms. New team, new Blazers, tweak the logo and get our superheroes some new costumes! We had guys like JR Rider, Wells, and Qyntel wearing these jerseys. It's been long enough, time for a change.

I feel that way too much pressure was put on GO from the time we drafted him.
For the most hyped big man to come into the draft since Tim Duncan, of course there will be pressure. Outside of LeBron James, the 07 Draft Lottery was the one to win. EVERYONE wanted Greg and esp now in a league not fertile with 7 ft centers, he was seen as a game changer and championship winner. I mean, there is pressure on all #1 picks, but more so in Oden's case because of the caliber of player he was. It comes with the territory.

Really? We already changed our court in 07-08, got a new jumbotron and a Rose Garden makeover. I think that's sufficient change enough from the tail end of the Jail Blazer era. Also, I just really like our uniforms, esp the red ones. I don't think an NBA team can do any better.

I would really like to see us make some trades (players or picks) for like Shannon Brown, Ray Allen, JJ Redick. Any of them would fit nicely. All outside shooters and Shannon would be a very good backup for B-Roy. Getting just 1 of them would be beautiful.

Keep the jerseys, including the Rip City ones and throw in a throwback every now and then. From a players standpoint, I don't really like Shannon Brown, because we already have Bayless at the point, but Ray Ray would be a nice free agent signing, not sure if JJ is a free agent or not, but I think he's finally found a home in Orlando. I would stay away from Q-Rich, just because he is about as inconsistent as his head-boppin partner D-Miles.

As much as I really don't like him, the guy I keep coming back to time and time again as the perfect fit is Kyle Korver. Not only would be come in for Nico off the bench, but he heats up instantly. Also, it'd be a pretty big blow to Utah losing him to a divisional rival. He is currently making 5.1 million, so a raise to start off at 5.8 isn't out of the question.

Two things real quick everybody.  I know by now I have probably overstated my feeling that a strong, starting power forward would be the first need on MY wish list...keeping LA and sliding him to the 3.  However, one position I haven't seen alot of talk about is the PG spot.  Best case scenario, this team makes a finals push in three or four years.  At that time, who is our starting "quarterback"?  In fact, who is our BACKUP?  Seriously guys, this is really a huge issue when you think about how important that position is to a top tier team and, in particular, a CHAMPION.  I was the first to back Dre, and consider myself still to be one of his strongest supporters.  However, realistically, is he still going to be able to start with the kind of production he had this season, in four years?  The answer is...no.  So, do you think it prudent to try to get that piece sooner rather than later, as it will take time for acclimation.  Give me a shout out and tell me what you think.

I don't think this is the year to find your point guard. The draft is a very weak point guard class and there's not many lead guards who are on the market right now. I would cross that bridge when we come to in. Also, not sure about LMA as a full-time 3. LA is a good perimeter, but I would not want to see him guard the likes of Durant, James, and Anthony on a nightly basis.

To be completely honest I say none of the above. I think they need to look deeply into the rash of health issues over the last two seasons. I also think they need to work on helping these guys with some of the "smarts" of the basketball game. These guys need to be able to read which direction the ball is going to bounce off the rim before it gets there, they need to be able to read the defense and move their feet without the ball, there are just little things like that really needing to be addressed. You then take Patty Mills and set up a skills course in the court and have him go at it everyday. You then sit him down in a dark room and point a lazer at the wall that he should follow with his eyes only and help improve his court vision. Jumpshots, jumpshots, jumpshots. Don't start warmups by shooting the three, you'll develop bad form. Always start with layups and progressively work out from the inside. Heads and hands up, knees bent, don't let your feet cross. Watch the opponent's chest, not their eyes, not their hands, use your periphery. Finally, always go straight up for a block until you've developed a super defender reputation. That is what needs to happen this off season.

Scorer. Why limit scoring to the 3 pt? Bring in someone who can shoot the three, but is deadly everywhere else. Mike Miller!

After seeing what the likes of Dragic and Korver did for their respective teams during the playoffs off the bench, I want that for our team. Camby can defend/rebound, Dante can be our hustle player, Marty with energy/perimeter defense, and Bayless running the show/providing a spark. We need that one bench player who locks and loads and scores in bunches. Maybe Trav will sign with us for a home-town discount :) ?
