    Jerryd Bayless: Stay or Go?
    Stay (15)
     88%
    Go (2)
     12%
Piggybacking off of Oregonlive's annual "You Be The GM" series, I figured why not get a gauge on our reader's feelings towards the players.

    Jerryd Bayless
    Position: PG
    2009-10 salary: $2,143,080
Contract status: Entering third season of rookie contract. Bayless is set to make $2,292,600 in 2010-11, and the Blazers hold a team option for the 2011-12 season.

2009-10: Posted averages of 8.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 17.6 minutes in 74 games (11 starts) ... Scored double figures 29 times, including eight straight appearances (1/20-2/3) for the first time in his career ... Made more free throws (201) than field goals (200).

Trail Blazers guard Jerryd Bayless saw increases across the board in his second season with Portland. With a larger role, Bayless made progress in many areas, improving his points per game, field goal percentage, three pointers attempted, three point percentage, free throws attempted, free throw percentage, assists, etc.

The athletic combo guard scored in double figures in five of the six first round playoff games against the Phoenix Suns, averaging 13.5 points in 28 minutes per game. In Game 1 alone Bayless surpassed his playoff totals from last season, 3.0 points, 0.5 rebounds and 5.5 minutes in two games.

He's a tireless worker with the hunger and drive to improve. Is he the future at the point guard position for the Blazers or just the backup to Brandon Roy?

With Travis gone, Bayless slid into favorite player territory, therefore he's got to stay! One reason why I wasn't upset with losing to the Suns was the fact he and Batum, tow of our youngest players, really stepped up to the challenge and showed their worth. For the next two years at least, I envision a 3 guard rotation of Miller, Roy, and Bayless being extremely  effective. Not to mention, the draft, outside of Wall, is not point guard heavy and there aren't any young point guards I'd rather have then Bayless who would even be on the market this summer. We've put in 2 years development on JB and I like his progress, his attitude, and his ability to relish the big-game atmosphere. Keeper!

100 % keeper.  I'd like to see the team give Roy more rest next season.

That's a great point Kim. We may want to start treating Roy how the Spurs do their big 3, and monitor their minutes through the regular season, so they can have fresher legs down the stretch. Brandon's had to do a lot of heavy lifting during his tenure in PDX and all the help he can get would be welcomed.

Stay. His post-season play has cemented him as a fixture on this team for a long time. We could use more guys who are fearless and just attack the basket at will.

Stay. We let him go, it's going to be another one of those Jermaine O'Neal things. He showed his stuff in the post season, and he has shown flashes of point guardesque play...this will develop with more playing time. Look at Westbrook and early in Chauncey Billups career.

Stay. 100% Stay. Jerryd's proven himself this year and has really stepped up to the plate when he had to. I completely agree with Clyde that his post season play is what will really keep him here. He proved he was a threat and played consistently.

I am a big fan of Jerryd but i just expect more out of him. I vote yes but I would like to see him be even more productive. with veterans like Andre miller there to teach him a thing or two bayless needs to be improving.

I watched Shabazz at the combine and he was a poor shooter.  In fact he did  so bad he did not even show up for drills in day two.  He may be a scorer not a shooter.  If he throws up enough shots he scores.  If someone looks a...

I would agree LMA is a decent defender but his help defense and team defense needs a lot of work. It is in these areas that Bosh really separates himself from LMA and it is because of that he is a better player than LMA despite not putting the sam...

I was looking at some shooting stats and came across a very very alarming stat. LMA was the league leader in FGA from 16-23 feet. Not only was he the leader he was lead by a mile. His 7.3 attempts from this distance easily outpaced Demar Derozan w...

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.

His defense was decent last year but not that good as he is either too weak or just unwil...
