I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Lakers.....
I was glad to see the Mavs choke again. I'm sick of hearing about Durunt,  Lebron and Timmy.
I can't stand Utah or Denver.
The team that is going to beat them all is the Lakers.

Tough question, the way LA let OKC make it a series tells you the west is really up for grabs and almost any team can beat anyone. Spurs are playing some really good ball, as much as I hate Utah their showing some real fight and taking it to Denver. If both teams can keep it together it would make for a interesting #5 vs #7 WCF, that would be a crazy!

San Antonio. I can't ever go with the Lakers, and I don't want OKC to do better than Portland. The young up and coming team is supposed to be us - I'm sick of hearing about them. I know some people like to root for the team that beats them, but Phoenix was so dirty and cried so much throughout this entire series that they leave me hoping San Antonio sweeps them. Go Spurs I guess. I'm looking forward to October already.

... out of the east I would LOVE to see Orlando. So many people already have the Cavs penciled in as the Eastern Conference Champions. I like to see arrogant people (Lebron) fail. Orlando vs. San Antonio would be cool, but the chances of that happening are prob pretty slim.

I agree, I cant ever go with the Lakers either.. with 1 exception this season when they played OKC or Spurs nearing the end, so we could move up a seed :) Other than that, I do hope the Spurs do some damage to the Suns.  Spurs are playing some great ball right now.  I would like to see Orlando do some damage in the East as well.  The Cavs are a good team though, not just LeBron.  Just PLEASE, NO KOBE!!!! I dont know if I can watch him win, he makes me crazy (in a bad way!!).

I need to take a break from the nba, when Kobe makes me less nauseous than Lebron, Timmy and Durunt, it says something.  I wouldn't mind seeing Orlando win it all.
I must need to " clear my head " too, see you in October  ;)

Not the L*akers. Yeah, even though other fans say that the SAS are boring . . and I know they didn't have a strong season in terms of record, being the 7th seed, they have the rings and I would love to see them put down the Suns and go all the way. I am sick of hearing about LBJ and even Superman.

Phoenix. They beat us fair and square, and the better they do, makes us look better in the long run. They play a fun style to watch and this could be their last hurrah with Nash really beat up right now. Amare and Dudley also showed the fans of Portland a lot of love via twitter.

I wrote my comment before I saw the Amar'e tweet - that was nice of him. Haven't seen the Dudley one yet. So yeah, props to them for that. Still, it would be cool to see the Spurs get back to the Finals, but yes, there is that theme that if the team that beat you does well, then yes, it makes it look like we had a tough challenge.

Man! Did you see how close OKC was to winning?? That must have been heart-breaking to go out that way! They sure gave a great effort against LAL, overall and in Game 6. For their first year - those fans have to be really proud of how the Thunder fared in their first series, against the champs (I know I hate to say this word, sorry) no less.

I wish OKC would have taken the Lakers, that was such a close one!  I cant believe that the Lakers have not had a home loss in 8 playoff games... They are a playoff contender for sure.. just dont want them to be the champs at the end.

Although I really don't like them from their prior teams, this Jazz team reminds me of us this year. They had a couple key injuries but are still trucking along. Deron Williams has been phenomenal to watch this season and I love their ball movement to the point where I am jealous we don't pass the ball that quickly and precisely.

I feel a little bit the same about the Jazz.  I think Deron Williams is great... I rooted for them against Denver and now the Lakers.. Just not a fan of Boozer though, although Ill admit he is good!  Something about his face drives me nuts, i know.... stupid.. but I hate to look at him!

Boozer definitely is the villain on that Jazz team,  but how can you not pull for a team that starts Kyrelo Fessenko at center? Watching him shoot free throws is good enough to tune in!

It's a hierarchy for me, listed in order of importance:

    1) Anyone winning the title but the Cavs. I love to see Lebron lose.

    2) Anyone winning the title but the Celtics. KG, nuff said.

    3) Here is when it gets a little tricky. I'm pretty sure I would prefer any team from the West winning the title over any team from the East. I've got no problem either way with the Magic or Hawks (like that's going to happen), but I'd still rather see the Lakers win it.

    4) The Spurs winning the title. In my dealings with then, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker are good guys to work with. Never had to talk to Pop, so I won't hold his prickliness with the media against him.

    5) Lakers winning the title. Pau is one of the league's nicest people. That's enough for me.

    6) Suns winning the title. The wound is too sore to really root for Los Suns for me at this point. 7) Jazz winning the title. My least fav remaining Western Conference team.

So that leaves pretty much the Orlando/ATL winner Casey? Anyways, the better the Suns look, the better I feel about our post-season. I felt good after Houston took LA to 7 without Yao, knowing we had lost to a great team. As bad as losing feels, you want to lose to the best, or at least a superior team. No one likes dropping a series to a team they should have beat or gave it away. Phoenix looks like they are on a collision course for the WCF against LA, and we almost took them to 7 and did so with a very beat up squad. Things are looking up in the Rose City!

Wow, I thought the Spurs would have given a the Suns a run, but down 3-0, looks like they are finished (I know people write off the Spurs prematurely, but I think this actually it). I think Lakers vs. Suns would be interesting - meaning that the Suns could beat them - that would be cool, to say the least. I am guessing we are going to see a rematch of last years ECF with ORL vs. CLE. Sorry, this is only a WC thread - Suns over Lakers (not sure Utah can do much, but we'll see) in 6 in the WCF.

Interesting to see Casey's picks. hah, its funny about many don't like LeBron winning . . that would be kinda funny if he had all these records, hype, athletic plays, etc and never won a title, but I could be speaking too soon of course.

Glad to see Phoenix do well, esp against perennial nemesis San Antonio. I can say I am surprised they are up 3-0 though, but it makes our 6 game series that much more impressive and did so all dinged up.

WOW, just WOW. A Tim Duncan-led team gets swept out of the playoffs! Well, I guess we look REALLY GOOD now, that we got two games off of the team that reached the WCF (not to mention stealing game 1 on the road).  Some nice story lines here - Grant Hill, after never making it past the 1st Rd is now in the conference finals and I think there are plenty of us who still have a kind spot for C. Frye in us as he too, has gotten that far and maybe these two will be the team that ousts the L*akers - wouldn't that be something!?

Anyways, would like to know what you guys think.

    Peace.

Could this be the nail in the coffin for the Spurs? They really remind me of the 80's Celtics who slowly decline but finish their careers with their teams without being traded. Unless they deal one of Hill/Parker for another piece, it could be 7-8th seed for them again.

No its not the nail in the coffin. They will still never be contenders again, but they have too much pride to go the lottery route. They'll stay around 6-8 for the next 2-3 years before we can officially bury them.

Also, am I the only one would watch an Orlando/Phoenix Finals? I haven't been into the NBA since Portland was out, but I could get behind that series.
